My girlfriend and I were visiting Houston and came here with a couple of friends for brunch last Wednesday. Being our first time we were excited to give Citizens of Montrose a try. The restaurant is in a pretty nice location around other shops and restaurants. As you walk in you're greeted with warm smiles and a cute layout. The food was really good and everything came out pretty quick for the most part. I really enjoyed the chili and the big brekkie is def a safe bet for anyone struggling to choose from their fantastic choices. The menu is stacked with options and you cannot go wrong with their coffees/teas. If you like Matcha they have a very flavorful not overly sweet matcha latte. We all enjoyed our food very much making Citizens of Montrose a safe option for brunch on any occasion. I really want to call out the service here because aside from the warm smiles, every single individual here was very friendly and made the experience much more worthwhile. Our 2nd server was kind enough to let us try their fluffy juices on the house and I really enjoyed the pineapple juice and the orange juice. Don't expect a sweet juice on these, they taste very natural which I personally enjoyed. Again, the service here was spectacular and we were very grateful to handled with such care from the staff. Come to Citizens of Montrose if you're in the area, you won't regret it!

Loved Citizens of Montrose! My hubby and I enjoyed our brunch here. We got their Barbie Bowl, blueberry pancakes, and their salmon avocado toast. For drinks we got their turmeric latte and dragon fruit mimosa. Everything we ordered was very fresh-tasting and so colorful! Our faves were their pancakes and Barbie Bowl. The pancakes were the fluffiest ever and the Barbie Bowl was very refreshing and not overly sweet. Service was very attentive and friendly. The interior lets in a lot of natural lighting. There's a small shared parking lot to the side. Will definitely return to try their espresso martini happy hour!

Came here to celebrate my birthday today. The booth for reservations up to 6 would definitely be tight if you have men in your party. The waitress was lovely. She was super polite. A bit delayed on some items but it was busy. We started off with a round of cocktails. The fluffy is great. The margaritas definitely had a nice kick. I also had the caramel cold brew which was really good. Small for the price. My meal was the avocado eggs benefit. Omg I cleaned my plate. It was so good and not overly much. As my birthday dessert we had banana bread French toast. I'd recommend this has a shared item more than an entree because it is definitely on the sweeter side.

The food is amazing. Environment during weekend brunch time is crowded and loud (phone measured about 95 dB), but if you are ok with that, give this place a try!Order wisely. The burger, banana bread French toast, and pulled pork Benedict were amazing, but the avocado toast was boring. The person in our group who ordered regretted it.Service could have been better. It wasn't bad, but often times we were left searching for our waiter for water, drink orders, and bill. At one point, a waitress from another area ended up helping us.Parking lot was jammed packed. There were cars going in and leaving because no vacancy. I also heard an argument shouting in the lot because of parking space.Bathroom wasn't kept to the same high standard as the rest of the restaurant. Could have used a little bit of cleaning and paper towel refill.Overall I recommend because of the food. Make a reservation.

Sunday brunch--ordered the pulled pork benny and it was absolutely delightful. My mom got the fried chicken sandwich, which was also excellent. The citizens are here and they are LOUD. Quiet, quaint brunch spot, it is not. The hostesses was incredibly friendly, but the service is pretty slow.

Editing to add in a few photos and to contribute my recent experience. It is still hard to navigate if you have a dietary restriction because many components are pre-mixed. Example from this time: I cant do cheese/milk/yogurt, so I asked for no feta on the avocado toast. That couldn't be removed... :(. The waiter offered to sub fresh avocado instead, but then it wouldn't have the other components of the avo mixture that make it taste delicious (cilantro, lime, seasoning). Not ideal. So I changed up my order by getting a benny on sourdough toast instead of the cheddar biscuit - this was an easy fix! However, one waiter did joke when I mentioned "butter is fine for me" (referring to the hollandaise having dairy) where he said, "She just chooses when she's being difficult!" I think this was a joke, but I really just love the food here and wish it was easier to navigate. See previous review for the other experience I had with no cheese/milk/yogurt. Anyway I really love the food and vibes here so I definitely won't change my rating, especially because - despite the joke the waiter made - our primary waiter was incredibly attentive and checked in with me about the ingredients to ensure what they had fit my restrictions.

Parking is limited, so plan ahead. Quite busy during brunch time. Reservation recommended, but we were able to be seated fairly quickly. Chill vibes from the staff, but no lack of service. Golden French Toast was hella good, but the brittle is an unnecessary touch and doesn't add to it. Recommend splitting if you don't want something too rich.

Citizens of Montrose is a cute little brunch spot in the Montrose area. They're advertised as serving Australian cuisine with an American twist. We came during a weekday so we were seated right away but I read a lot of reviews recommending making reservations. It's quite small inside and the tables are arranged really close to one another. It makes it really awkward going in and out if you're seated at the booth. The tables are also small that we barely had any room for our plates once the food was served. I'm not sure if they were understaffed that day but there was only one server for the entire half of the restaurant. When we were served he was great and attentive. It took a while to get his attention though and he missed getting a few of our requests like hot sauce and extra napkins. I was still very patient with him though because I could tell he was working nonstop. My friend and I each started off with coffee. I ordered the cappuccino which was delicious and my friend got the velvet latte which is blended with beetroot. If there's one thing you need to order it would be the banana bread french toast. It wasn't too sweet and the bread was nice and moist. Another interesting thing we tried was the vegemite flight. This was my first time having vegemite and it's very salty and bitter. The flight paired the vegemite with other spreads like avocado and cheese to cut through the bitterness but it still was not for me. My friend loved her harissa bowl. It's actually a pretty big serving. I liked the biscuit on my breakfast sandwich because it was nicely seasoned but that was about it. I like the unique offerings they have on their menu. Overall it's a solid brunch spot and worth a visit if you're in the area.

They were pretty busy but the host let us sit at the bar. For all the troubles they let us try a shot of the frozen margarita, but unfortunately it wasn't frozen but it was still good. Everybody there was so helpful we got so many suggestions on what to try, what to get, what to mix. I ended up ordering the sausage and cheddar biscuit sandwhich which was so delicious I expected the sausage to be a patty but it was still delicious. We also ordered and split the mimosa flight. The flavors were NOT the greatest. I only liked the dragonfruit one and the original but we it also came with grapefruit and a rosé mimosa which was very strong but flavor wise not good. 10/10 I liked Citizen it's a nice cute spot. Will have to come back next time I'm in Houston

Ate here four or five times. Food is generally good. But I am disappointed they charge 1.75 extra for hash browns and they serve something that looks like was frozen and overfried. Looked worse than from a fast food place.I mentioned the server, and they paid for my coffee. Staff is youg and friendly. Posting so they can take out of the menu. I am sure other customers feel the same.
