Chunky's Hot Chicken

Man. Let me tell you about this catfish platter. I was in Houston for the day from Dallas & finally had time to go by & try them! The staff was knowledgeable & super friendly & helped me decide what to get --bc everything on the menu looked good. I landed on the catfish & fries. It is soooo much food! No way I could even finish it before my flight! & the grilled cheese bread it comes with?! Oooommmmgggg! It's so tasty. I like my fish crispy so I asked for it to be fried hard & it was perfection. The fries were well seasoned & the side sauce--kinda like a remoulade sauce--BANGING. Gave my mom some --bc one basket was enough for 2 people, & I STILL had leftovers. If you haven't been, you need to go!

So I came to Houston for 24 hours, I was on Almeda getting my hair braided. I needed something to eat before I headed back to Dallas. I had a hard time deciding on the chicken wings or fish. I thought the fish would be easy to eat while I drive so I ordered the fish and fries. Can I just tell you I was a little hesitant about having my fish dipped in a hot sauce, but this had to be the best DAMN catfish I have ever had. Point blank in my life, I had to pull over so I could look at this fish to figure out why was it so good. I also got the strawberry lemonade should've grabbed two. Let's just say it took me longer than I anticipated getting back to Dallas because of me pulling over to really concentrate on the fish. Hands-down can't wait to get back to the H make sure you stop by the food truck on Almeda.

Decided to try it today instead of the vegan food truck. I got the fried catfish with fries. Now I must say the crunchiness was perfect BUTTTTTTT, they lost me at making it sweet. It's like they added sugar into the batter. Not a fan. I was highly disappointed. When I bite into a fried catfish I do not Expect it to be sweet. Idk if this is a thing, but it's not for me.Don't think I'll return

Drove all the way from San Antonio to try the food because it kept popping up on my feed on Instagram I get there waited hours and they never opened. We ended up at the Turkey leg hut.

They stole money from me. They ran out of fries which is fine but don't charge me for fries and tell the person behind me that y'all ran out of fries and not me. Why did I pay $15.00 for a chicken sandwich? Just a chicken sandwich? And will not give me a discount on my food. Just lost a frequent customer.

Food was heat hot but not seasoned very well. Seasoned just on top. French fried the same. Wings are extra large and not very tender. Takes work to eat the chicken wings. Not what I expected at all. The staff was very nice I must say. And apologized for it taking so long to get our food.

My favorite place when I am in 3rd ward. Best catfish in town. It is a lil sweet to some liking but it's delicious to me.

Last week the truck was closed. I know its closed on Monday but its was Tuesday -Friday it was closed. On Wednesday went there 4x and its still was closed. Please put the correct hours and days . Add a phone number so people will know.

Chunky hot chicken got good reviews on google so we decided to check them out. We were highly dissatisfied.We came on a Thursday evening and no one was in line which should have signaled us to go to another truck which had customers , but we were craving chicken.There was about a 15 minute wait as the chicken is made to order. It smelt good and looked delicious but it definitely looked better than it tasted. The chicken lacked flavor and heat, and was not properly cleaned feathers still on chicken with strings. How can it be hot chicken when there is no hotness. The bread was put under the greasy chicken and it was pure Grease. What's worse was the chicken was underdone on the inside so the Grease was either top hot or had not been changed in awhile. The only good thing was the seasoned fries which were also greasy, but that would not bring us back.I definitely would not recommend or come back. Wish I could have taken it back for a refund.

From the nachos, wings with toast and fries this food was full of flavor and didn't disappoint.Plan on trying the chicken salad next.
