We came here because of the hype and it was real. We loved the cast iron pancakes the most. It soaks in an amazing syrup with the biggest scoop of butter on top. The French toast was tasty and they use a brioche bread, so it is flaky. Not my favorite but still a great option! Another top contender was the American Cuban sandwich - all the fillings were cooked, which was great for my pregnant self. I was in love with the sandwich but the fries were to die for! The seasoning and the cook on them were perfect. Loved the ambiance and would highly recommend for anyone to come to eat here!!The server was super friendly and food came out within 10-15 minutes despite it being busy. We only waited for 30 minutes for a table of 3 but there's so much to walk around and do that it didn't feel like a wait at all. I'm really not sure why Chug's has such a low rating on Yelp because I wouldn't be surprised if it had a 4.5 or higher.

An absolute banger of the meal! Cuban but fun and new and interesting. We had so much fun picking out our orders. We tried the malanga latkes and the buffalo chicken croquetas - both great but small portions if you're sharing. The sandwich sizes vary. The Cuban American is good for one but the pan con bistec can definitely be shared. Both had great flavors. For a busy Sunday the service was quick and friendly. Can't leave without a cafecito to go!

Why have I never been to Chugs before? I came today for their Miami Spice lunch and boy it did not disappoint. The interior is understated, kinda old fashioned and like a homely diner. I loved it. The service was super friendly and efficient. This place is wonder by the same establishment as the Michelin star Ariete, and it shows. This place also has a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Well deserved. My only grip - it was very hot inside. I don't think their air con was working properly.I sampled the following from Their Miami Spice lunch menu - Appetizer - Buffalo Chicken Croquetas served with Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Hot Sauce, Saltines and pickle. These were very good. An interesting flavour and the blue cheese made them pop.Main - Abuela's Plate which is White Rice, Black Beans, Banana and a choice of: Lechón, Pollo a la Plancha, or Chicharron. I opted for the Chicharron. This was a hearted plate, filled with love. A modern take on a Cuban classic.Dessert - Seasonal Flan. Baked Custard. This is basically a creme caramel. This is where the word basic is lost. This dessert is anything but BASIC, it was phenomenal. I also overheard another patron tell his lunch buddy, "I do not like flan, but when I tell you, their flan is fxxxxing fantastic! (THEY SAID IT, AND I AGREE)Because the food was so good, I also opted to sample one of their milkshakes. I tried a mamey and mango one. It was excellent. It was definitely Cuban style.I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Ariete's flan and this flan are the best I have ever had. According to my server, he told me the pastry chef makes both of them. This guy needs a pay rise. His flans are decadent, smooth. silky and just heavenly.

I took my wife and daughter to Chug's for Sunday Brunch. (Note that we had Brunch but they serve breakfast/brunch all day til closing). We all liked this place a lot! "Diner meets casual breakfast restaurant feel" to this place. We all shared the "Beltran's Bacon" - steak-cut Bacon with a smoked maple glaze (yum!). My wife had the "Pan con Croqueta" - egg, ham, Swiss sandwich with cuban croquettes on a toasted brioche bun - it was great! I had the Breakfast Sandwich (taylor ham, egg, cheese on Cuban Bread), very good also. My daughter had the "Cast Iron Pancake"- huge 2" high, cake-style pancake with clarified butter and maple syrup - wow! I think that was the star of the show! FYI- It's easily big enough to share. She only got through about 1/3 of it. I was curious about the "Lechon Hash" (roast pork, mojo onions, diced potatoes and a fried egg) so we took one of those to go. i warmed it and had it for breakfast at home the next two days! My wife had a Sangria which she liked and I had a couple of their signature "Miami Mimosas" (Mimosa with pineapple and mango juices). This place was great! Everything we ordered was delicious, portions are very good and prices are reasonable. We were seated right away, the service was good and everything came out quick and hot. Only thing was we paid about $15 to park but that's the Grove for you!

Cuban food with a modern twist in coconut grove. Definitely recommend a reservation as the place is pretty small & it takes a while if you are a walk in. Service is average, my friend and I each got iced coffees with different milks and the server said he didn't know which was which. I ordered a croqueta and the pan con bistec & both were delicious. I've been in the past & the food has never disappointed, including the breakfast sandwich & croqueta sandwich as well

This place is not your run of the mill cuban cafe. But you can definitely expect some cuban breakfast staples. I've come here twice, once with my sister and once with my boyfriend and they were both impressed with how good the food was!PLACE: Located in the heart of the grove, this is a small Cuban cafe with some indoor seating and some outdoor seating plus a community table. its a block away from Lulu's and Green Street Cafe, so expect most of the parking to be taken. However, there are some public lost nearby. The wait is never long which is good considering how popular this place has become. FOOD: As I said this is a modern take on a Cuban cafe, so they serve your regular cuban breakfast of eggs, potatoes and tostada. They also serve their takes on a croqueta preparada and a Cuban sandwich big enough for two! I got their Cuban breakfast and added cheese to my eggs which resulted in the best cheese pull ever! My boyfriend ordered the croqueta preparada which came with a croqueta right on top! The best thing about this place is that they make different styles of croquetas and pastelitos, but come early cause they run out quick! We tried their short rib and ham croquetas and they were both so good and creamy!SERVICE: The service is average in my opinion. We grabbed a table as soon as a couple has left because they have scarce outdoor seating, so we didn't give them a chance to clean the table before we sat down. However, once we did sit down, it took them about 10-15 minutes for them to clean our table and bring us water. The good thing is though that the food comes out very quick so you're not waiting long. So come down to the grove to check them out and I promise you won't be sorry!

This diner was so cute. When we asked what is good on the menu the server said "everything is good". The atmosphere was really calm and enjoyable. The food was good too.

Honestly very consistent food, have gone from brunch and dinner the most and never disappoints. Their high traffic hours are morning -3 pm on weekends ! I've gotten most things on the menu & I always lean towards several items because they are JUST that good. Restaurant is good vibes, has indoor and outdoor seating ! Food items : - iced cafe con leche - quiche - burger - breakfast sandwich- turkey club - cast iron pancake - french fries- bacon - croquetas - ham (tastes like deli ham - so good), spinach is good, short rib is amazing & my favorite is bacon egg and cheese (I was so suspicious about this one and it's EVERYTHING - a Cuban breakfast in a bite )

Don't let the word "diner" fool you into thinking this is ordinary food. This gourmet eatery offers creatives twists on Cuban and diner staples. I expected regular Cuban food and instead was wowed by all the details into each dish i tried:Malanga latkes: at first they seem like your usual latkes, with a subtle flavor difference through the malanga (a root veggie similar to potato), but then you top it with their guava applesauce and it takes it to another level. That applesauce could be eaten in its own as a snack--subtly sweet, tropical and refreshing. Duck croquetas: 10/10 simply amazing. The duck croquette on its own is an experience--the duck was not fatty, it was condimented with herbs and whole grain mustard without being by overpowering but then there's the mustard orange jam to go with it, and this elevated it from great to superior. As strange as the flavors sound the jam has the right balance of citrus from the orange peel and just a touch of mustard seed to make it interesting. BEC croquetas: bacon egg and cheese croquetas taste like an entire breakfast meal in one bite. I would absolutely buy this for rushed breakfast in the go.Rice pudding blintz: subbing the usual custard for rice pudding made from broken rice it was wonderfully comforting. Though it was under the breakfast section it very well makes a good dessert--sweet, with a fruit compote to balance out the creaminess of the filling. Banana carajillo: a delicious twist on the classic carajillo, in line with all the trending banana lattes, this boozy option has a mild banana to give it just a unique twist on the classic cocktail. Comes in a small espresso shot glass. They serve Jojo tea and the chamomile was perfect to balance out the richness of the meal.Definitely coming back to try more!

I had high expectations for chugs diner due to the fact it has been featured and tagged countless times on social media. The food was average, and our sandwiches were on the dry side plus the meat was overcooked. To add to not being that impressed by the food the service was also subpar. Our server took 15 minutes to acknowledge us and never brought the table water. My overall impression is that since it's a trendy place people flock to it. But, Chugs just did not live up to the hype for me.
