Chong's Chinese Restaurant

There are few businesses left on Flagler Street in Little Havana that have been there as long as Chong's. Predating the days of Google, Amazon, and Yelp, this little spot has seen Miami grow in leaps and bounds...Way back then, when the old Firestone Service Center was on Flagler and 12th Avenue, Chong's was a busy little place. Constantly plating out special fried rice in combination platters for the working men and women of Little Havana and keeping families fed every weekend. Fast forward to this modern digital age, and you will find that time stood still in this little corner of life. The combination plates still come with special fried rice and those homemade shrimp and pork eggrolls that make your mouth water are deliciously greasy. Prices have kept up with inflation, but remain affordable, and the portions are enough for two hungry people. This is that little hole in the wall eatery that is perfect for those trips down memory lane over a cold beer and no-frills comfort food. Park in the back, sit at the big picture window in the front, and just watch life walk by over a plate of sweet and sour chicken. This one is going on the BBB (Bueno, Bonito, y Barato) list for old time's sake.....

I ordered carry out tonight from this restaurant. I was really craving Chinese food and based on all the reviews I read for the Chinese restaurants in the area, I wasn't expecting much. I also find it interesting how the Chinese food restaurants have such hit or miss reviews. I couldn't find a single restaurant with consistently good or bad reviews. Frustrating! I decided to take a leap of faith and try this one. Glad I did as I was pleasantly satisfied. This restaurant, like many of the others in the area, serves a variety of both Chinese and Latin food. If you want to sip a cortadito with your General Tso's chicken, there ya go ( not that I would ever combine the two).. Anyway, I digress.. The woman who answered the phone was very nice. She didn't speak much English but we were able to get by with my Spanglish. I ordered a quart of the roast pork fried rice ($7.29) and the chicken with broccoli ($8.99). I ordered carry out so I can't comment on the delivery service. I was told that it would take 15 minutes and sure enough it was ready by the time I got there. The pork fried rice was delicious. It could've used a few more pieces of pork but it was very tasty. The chicken and broccoli was also very good. The broccoli was crunchy fresh, there were many pieces of chicken, and the portion was huge. This was a win for me! I look forward to trying more dishes at this establishment.

This was my first time trying this place from my usual Chinese spots. Only getting 1 star because my honey garlic chicken and shrimp fried rice was ok. But their wings are terrible. Usually wings at Chinese places are fully fried and crispy, but the wings here are disgusting & pretty much raw! Wont be ordering from here again.

Not my fave. Looking for a take out in little Havana, the place we used to go to closed this place smells pretty bad when you walk in... and it's pretty dirty (I feel like most Chinese spots are though)... -Special fried rice was so so.... -Honey garlic chicken, had way too much garlic-Vegetable lo mein had lots of veggies but they didn't look appetizingOur search will continue!

I order pepper steak that was the worst pepper steak I ever ate first of all vegetables cut too big of a piece has no taste the sauce no flavor I never had pepper steak like that only order from this restaurant because the restaurant where I always order from was closed today but this food was terrible I would never order again.

This place is really good overall. The fried rice is loaded with ham, shrimp, chicken, pork, bean sprouts, scallions and is absolutely delicious. I was really surprised that it comes with combination plates. Most other places just gives you fried rice with pork or chicken. The ribs were delicious. Moist, tender and not too sweet. The egg roll was ok. Not the best. The fan tail shrimp were a little overcooked and too crunchy. I still loved the food overall. Definitely a quick good lunch spot to visit. Prices are very reasonable.

Yummy Chinese food in the heart of little Havana! I would definitely recommend only take out as the place is not well lit and the atmosphere isn't great. The food is fantastic. My favorites off their menu are the crispy wontons with cream cheese and their dipping sauce. The Chinese fried drive with all the proteins. Chicken wings are bomb.com! Everything on the menu is affordable and delicious. Love this place when I'm craving some good Chinese food. Enjoy!

I order beef and broccoli, lo mei, special fried rice, chicken wings, and some ribs. When I received the order the beef and broccoli was sad amount of beef. This was 13$ so I called them to tell them what was going on. The lady that took my order number and asked for my phone number, name, and description on the driver that delivery food. After 5 mins another lady called me which I'm guessing was the owner since I really don't think any one would want to hire this lady called tell me that she packed my order and she added EQUAL amounts of steak to broccoli. We can both see ain't no EQUAL amounts here. She processed to scream on the top of her lungs that she is here to help customers but she made no mistake this time and I was lying. I asked her if I should send her pictures but she just processed to repeat over and over she made no mistake, not acknowledging me now once after I asked if she needed a picture. I would've never taken my time to write this if they just apologize or returned my money but the way they decided to handle the situation got us here.

Called to place an order the lady that answered was screaming at someone while I was on the phone. Two of the items I wanted to order the lady said they where out. Stay away the food is horrible

The One star is for the Wong tong cream cheese. Customer service is horrible. They hung up on me after I was patiently waiting for 30 minutes then they block my number when I tried to call back . It's Highly requested that there needs to be new management ASAP. Focus on hiring a whole new team because what this place has is a bad reputation. Which is takes away from the cookers making great food, just to have ridiculous Server/Waitress destroying the business success. If your business is losing money that's 100% Guarantee the reason why !
