This place is so cute cozy, kiosk accessible and clean. I have a peanut allergy, and they have it on the kiosk that there is peanuts in one of the sauces. So we talked to the owner there and told him about my peanut allergy, and he said it's okay, and gave me the dishes that i could order. Well i guess you can put together what happened. The plain katsu also had peanuts anyways. When we asked him later where are the peanuts, he said it's in the whole thing-- but i already was having an allergic reaction. I'm really upset because this place looks so good, i just wish that they were more conscious of allergies and give options to those with allergies. There is soup which was good, but they're known for the donkatsu-- one of my faves. I know a lot of korean spots tend to use peanut products with fried things like peanut oil or putting crushed peanuts on top of korean fried chicken-- but a lot of the places stopped doing that. Choongmans chicken used to use peanut flour and peanut oil for their korean fried chicken, then changed their menu so that it didn't include peanuts anymore. Hoping one day this spot does that too because-- damn it looks so good! I know my family enjoyed their meal. The size and proportions are generous and the combo meals are a good deal. just wish i could i talk about the taste

I've been wanting to try this place out because I love a good tonkatsu. I was surprised to find a place that serves just that dish. I love that it's located in a small strip mall which means plenty of parking spaces. There is a kiosk where you can place your order. Even though the kiosk is a convenient way to order, I wished that they would configure it to show the full names of the dishes instead of having it cut off towards the end. Because of this, you should pay more attention to what you're ordering or else you can order the wrong item. There's a self service water station and a tray rack for you to put your finished meal.I got the garlic tonkatsu with the udon. I wasn't a fan of the udon but I really liked my tonkatsu dish. The inside of the place was very big so plenty of seats to go around. I would definitely come back and try the other tonkatsu flavors next time.

Clean space, self service kiosk but there is someone behind the counter to assist you if needed. The katsu was fried well with juicy pork and crisp breading, the only downside was the breading fell apart everytime in the sauce.Sauces were either a bit too sweet or a bit too salty but not overwhelming. Would recommend asking for it on the side if possible.

Stopped by for a quick bite. The portion is large, and the food was delicious. I prefer katsu to be thick and juicy. Theirs is thinner but still very tender and flavorful. The cold spicy noodles were also in delicious broth. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a "homemade" meal.

This spot resides in the former home of Korean Fly Chicken (the sign at the entrance to the parking lot still says Korean Fly Chicken so don't get confused) which I will miss. This whole strip mall seems to change businesses a lot so let's hope this new spot breaks the cycle. FYI, look for the corner spot that says "The Best Cutlet".It's another kiosk system place, which I'm not a big fan of, but the kiosk itself was easier to use than others I've seen in the past. The menu is on the small side with mostly cutlets to order and a few sides and drinks. I love a good garlic anything so I went with the garlic cutlet. It comes with some rice and coleslaw as well as a few pickled vegetables so it's a pretty solid plate of food. My order came out after just a few minutes and was promptly brought to my table by the only man working (possibly the owner?). He informed me that they offer all guests complimentary miso soup as a self serve option so I went ahead and grabbed some and as well as some complimentary water. I like this water machine by the way, it's convenient and even offers hot water if your so inclined.I was given chopsticks which I'm not very good at yet and the man saw me struggling and kindly brought me a fork, so just let them know right away you need one and avoid the potential embarrassment. The cutlet was pretty good but a few pieces were a bit tough in my opinion. The breading was great but fell off in chunks while I was eating. Both of these issues could possibly be resolved with a meat mallet which could make the meat more tender and apply some more texture to help the breading stick. The sides were a nice way to bring some balance to the meal, especially the pickles. The acidity was very welcome to cut the heavy and salty cutlet. The miso soup was a nice touch, it's not too rich and adds another bit of depth to the experience. I was thinking the rating for this spot was about a 3 but the flavors were exceptional! I loved the garlic on the cutlet and the ginger sauce they served on the side was amazing! I'll want an extra saucer of that next time, or maybe just add a ginger cutlet to the menu and cover it in the sauce from the start? If they bottled that I'd buy it in bulk. The flavors took this spot up half of a star, the service brought it up another half. The man was friendly and helpful and genuinely seemed happy to have customers and get feedback. He cleaned my tray as well, so remember that your getting some actual service at the kiosk and tip accordingly. I left full and satisfied. I'll be back in the near future and if they can cook the cutlet to a better tenderness I'll likely change this review to 5 stars.

I have a weakness for donkatsu (tonkatsu) and curry so when I found out that there was a spot devoted to cutlets, I could not rest until I tried it. FOMO is real! There's plenty of parking in this strip mall but where is Choigodang, I don't see a sign? Look instead for the neon "The Best Cutlet" and you've come to the right place. The restaurant is super clean, spartan almost, with accents of bubblegum pink. I ordered curry cutlet at the kiosk and I also ordered rice as a side because the menu didn't list rice as included. The counter person gave me cash back when he confirmed it was included. There is complimentary miso soup on the counter (serve yourself).I was the only customer in the restaurant this evening, which is a shame. My order was delivered to me on a tray with chopsticks and a spoon (I presume for the gravy). My (pork) cutlet was super crispy yet tender and easy to chew. It sat atop the rice, the curry gravy and a garnish of green onions and fried shallots. The cutlet was large, filled the width of the plate, and I kept thinking, I'll take half home, but before I could stop myself, it was gone! The curry could have been hotter, both in temperature and spice, though I loved the super crunchy cutlet. I would like to try the rose cutlet in future.I kept hoping more customers would walk through the door because I was enjoying my donkatsu and I know others would enjoy it as well. I told my future self to bring a few friends along next time. Future Karyn M says hi!

Got to try this place out after seeing it around for a while! This spot used to be where Korean Fly Chicken was (kind of sad because that place was pretty good) and I think was empty for a while before they took over.We met up with some friends here who had already tried it a few times and enjoyed it. Got there around 5:30 and we were the only ones there for a while, but a few groups showed up not long afterwards. Interior is very spacious with ample seating and some K-pop playing (some older songs too, surprisingly). They have a kiosk that you order on and a soup and water station on the side. The water dispenser provided both hot and cold water, which my always-cold wife appreciated. There was no one at the counter when we came in and the kiosk was having some technical difficulties so we couldn't use it at the moment. We were still deciding what to get when a Mexican employee came from the back. He didn't speak English but I think he tried to help us order, but the owner (I think) came in around then and fixed the kiosk.I ordered the garlic cutlet + udong set and my wife ordered the cheese cutlet. At first she couldn't decide between the cheese cutlet or the curry cutlet, but she asked the owner if she could have some curry sauce on the side and he gave it to her. He's a really nice guy and also helped us take a group picture after our food came out! I really liked my garlic cutlet! It had great flavor and juiciness and the breading was light but satisfyingly crunchy. Udong noodles were also nicely cooked. Our friends ordered the garlic cutlet, curry cutlet, and the rose udong and they liked it, and my wife also enjoyed her meal. While the food was good, we all agreed that we were still a little hungry afterwards. I probably wouldn't come here if I were starving, but I guess they do have a "Double Cutlet" meal which costs the same as a set, so I might try that option next time. It also took us a while to figure out what we wanted since the menu only has the name and a picture of the cutlets, so if they're able to add some sort of description to each one that would be really helpful!Overall we really enjoyed our experience here and will definitely be coming back again!

I'm so happy that this opened in my neighborhood. This location has changed businesses a couple of times over the years and it has been empty for several months already. My kids and I were excited to try this place so we walked here both times that we've visited. We were greeted warmly by the owners. The place was spacious and clean. Ordering is done through the kiosk. It would have been helpful if there were short descriptions of each dish though. There was a water (hot and cold) dispenser and a warm miso soup counter which customers could help themselves with. We tried different dishes:The GARLIC CUTLET, SALAD CUTLET, HOMEMADE SIRLOIN CUTLET, and the RETRO CUTLET. They were all delicious, good portions, and they were not oily at all. The breading was crunchy on the cutlets, except for the ones with the sauce & gravy on top (GARLIC & RETRO). Next time, I will ask for the sauce/gravy to be served on the side so that I can still get the crunchiness of the cutlet. I also liked the two kinds of dipping sauces that came with the dishes. We ordered a couple of cutlets with UDONG. The Udong had a tasty broth and the noodles were cooked perfectly. My son ordered the SWEET POTATO FRIES and these were great. They were not salty nor oily. The owners checked on us a couple of times to make sure that we were happy with our meals. I asked the lady if they air-fried the cutlets and the fries, and she said that they have a special method of frying. Their method is why the cutlets and the fries were not oily at all, even if they were fried.Overall, I will come back here for sure. We really enjoyed our dishes and the laid-back atmosphere of the place. The service was fast and friendly, and even if I drive here, parking is easy. Stay strong!

New tonkatsu restaurant in Glenview. We loved it so much we went twice in one weekend. We tried almost everything on their menu. We absolutely loved the garlic tonkatsu and the cheese cutlet. Highly recommend those. We opted to go for the combo meals which includes a noodle dish and a cutlet. Our kids loved their udon. I also liked their spicy noodle bowl. To be honest the rose udon was not my favorite. I think it needed more sauce. But overall I'm glad I tried it. You can place your order on the kiosk and they will let you know once it's ready for you. I definitely think it's is one of the best Korean cutlet - tonkatsu you'll find in the suburbs. The owners were super friendly and helpful. Super glad to have this new restaurant near us. We definitely will be back for more.

If you're wanting a no frills fast donkatsu place this is perfect for a quick lunch spot. You can order via the kiosk and everything is self service (miso soup, water and soda to grab from the fridge if you bought a soda). We tried the garlic donkatsu set (one with udon and one with the spicy noodle aka "jjolmeon") and one retro donkatsu. The cutlets itself comes out crispy but none of the accompanied sauces hit the spot in our opinion. For the garlic cutlet the sauce is sweet (like teriyaki) with garlic chips and does have a garlic flavor but after the initial 2-3 bites it gets too sweet so I would ask for the sauce on the side and that way the cutlet stays crispy. The cutlet meat itself was juicy. The spicy noodle wasn't spicy and overly sweet- The self service area is easy but I would like the restaurant to offer ice. We bought a soda but we asked for ice and they didn't have any. The water is also from the machine so it's luke warm so no ice water option. Since the miso soup is self service I wish they also had spoons- the utensils come out with your meal so you can sip the miso soup bowl while waiting or ask for a spoon which defeats the self service area. They also didn't have the corn salad but on the menu so not sure if it's because they are still fairly new. I may come back to try some other cutlets and give it another try but most likely not. It's not a place unless it's for convenience that you'll be craving or think it's outstanding.
