I have been holding back for several months before posting this review and giving the new owners a chance. I initially visited this establishment in April when I discovered that it was under new ownership. We were disappointed that sister Fatima was gone. Over the past years as a loyal customer of China king our entire family upset but wishful. I ordered a chicken corn soup to go. At no point did they mention the change in management. Upon arrival and seeing everything I simply proceeded to make payment and collect my order. To my surprise had gone up, I asked about the prices to which the owner, Faisal, stated that after the change in management they were using higher quality ingredients, and that was the cause. I proceeded to suggest that the new prices and menu should be updated to yelp and other pages that showcase their restaurant. He was very rude and refused to listen to what I was saying. I collected myself and left with my order. I was honestly going to post then as his manner was appalling but I decided to let it go.This evening my husband and I decided to give them another chance. We attempted to order on the phone but they said the payment had to be made on card however we were a minutes time away so simply paid cash. Upon arrival our food was ready. We had an order of chicken wings (10 pieces), special, fried rice, chicken with garlic sauce, and steamed rice and beef pepper steak with fried rice. The bill was about $75 for these items which again very high in prices in comparison to before. I have to say that the taste is not what it was and it was a really disappointing experience. The management stated that the chefs were the same but when you are a frequent customer you end up at the restaurant at closing time often and do see the chefs, I had never seen them before. The garlic sauce in the chicken was garlic soup. The taste was extremely underdeveloped. I could taste the vinegar and soy sauce separately and not a taste of garlic! Prior to this experience our order of chicken and garlic sauce consisted of at least 2/3 of it being chicken and 1/3 vegetables, where as this time around we were primarily served vegetables with a side of chicken. Disappointing! The beef pepper steak was undercooked and the strips of beef had a heavy fat content and seemed that all the pieces were just fat. The wings would fall of the bone before and this time it was difficult and tasteless. The special fried rice was OK, again not happy about the lack of taste. This time around the new owners were nicer. Faisal came out and offered to make a new beef pepper steak dish, I refused and after much insisting they did so and gave us fresh rice to go with it. I don't want to impose my experience on anyone but this was my experience. I think they're better off turning it into a Pakistani Chinese restaurant because American Chinese flavor is gone. China king was our one solid halal Chinese food place that was always good halal Chinese after moving from NYC. It is disappointing to say but we will probably not be returning. Good luck to the new owners and the people trying this place for the first time.

Subject: Unpleasant Experience at China King Sugar Land I recently dined at China King Sugar Land and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.The service I received during my visit was exceptionally poor, and it left a lasting negative impression. To exacerbate matters, I was charged a 18% gratuity upfront prior to the arrival. We had a party of about 30 people so I went 2/3 hours ahead of time and placed the order and paid in full along with the gratuity charges. I was speaking to the person there at the counter to ensure how the tables will be set. After collecting the full payment, she stated that the chef needs to know the exact time of serving the food. We went ahead and gave her the exact time. The tables were dirty, the salt and pepper shakers were sticky. When we arrived at the pre set time nothing was prepped. No plates, napkins, water-NOTHING. Unfortunately, they were not able to bring the food out at the given times, and the guests stayed waiting when the food was finally served. Most of it was cold. Also, keep in mind that they had no waiters actually serving the food on the tables rather they were just bringing it out and my family was serving the food to the guest on the table Yet we were charged an 18% gratuity ahead of time which I paid when I paid for the original order. I have never seen such incompetence and lack of service. It was beyond unacceptable.As a customer, I value transparency and fair treatment, and my recent encounter at China King has left me disappointed. I believe constructive feedback is essential for business improvement, and I hope you take this as an opportunity to address these issues. I have tried to get a hold of the owners before posting this review so I could speak to them but I don't think they are interested in fixing any of the issues. Regrettably, based on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I honestly have received better service at a fast food spot!

Old owner was very good.Bad food and typically subcontinent mentality.Do not recommend.

Food and service were great. We ordered beef, chicken, and shrimp dishes and thought we would have taken the leftovers but we ended up finishing all up. It was quiet for Saturday afternoon.

HORRIBLE. New owner has jacked up prices by double. I ordered $45 of pot stickers and my 12 year old daughter got 1 fortune cookie. We've been long, loyal customers- but this owner has lost our service.He is super shady.

For so many years, we've been ordering from halal china king , appreciating their consistently high-quality good food, with the old management fatima was here , and reasonable prices. However, upon under new management recently, very disappointment when i order pickup for the first time. I think this would be my last time.They gave me the wrong order and refused to give me the credit for the next time. Well no more ordering from Halal China King.

However, upon revisiting recently, we were met with great disappointment as the restaurant had undergone a change in management. The experience was disorganized, with the staff appearing bewildered and unable to provide proper service. To add to our frustrations, when we ordered soup, it arrived without any bowls, and the appetizers were served simultaneously with the entrees, defeating the purpose of having appetizers altogether. Moreover, we only received one glass of water, which was never refilled throughout our meal.Now, onto the food itself--this was perhaps the most significant letdown. The taste had undeniably changed, lacking any semblance of authentic Chinese flavors. It seemed as though all the dishes were now prepared using a Pakistani or Indian curry base. The soup bore no resemblance to what it should be, and the Kung Pao dish was utterly devoid of any flavor. If you were a fan of their previous offerings, prepare yourself for a massive disappointment. It's also worth mentioning that the prices have nearly doubled.Given this experience, I have no intention of returning to the restaurant, and I strongly advise against doing so.
