Such a cute little hole in the wall! I came in and this older lady helped me sit at the bar, order my food, make my tacos, and serve me. She was so sweet and nice!! I ordered an Al pastor taco and carne asada taco, both of which were a good size for a taco that was $3. The corn tortilla was a little soggy unfortunately but the meat was not dry and tender! I'd come back to maybe try a burrito on a flour tortilla next time! All in all a good experience. I do wish they had other meats such as lengua or cabeza but it seems as if their menudo is great so hoping to also try that (served only on the weekends).Tip: it is cash only! So bring enough cash

I love this place!! This to me is exactly what I look for in a small family owned Mexican restaurant. You walk in and all it is is 4 to 5 barstools and a counter, and the rest is all her kitchen. And that her that I referred to is the sweet little lady grilling up some of the best Mexican food ever. By food, I mean, my torta. I get a torta at every the Mexican restaurant I can. This might be hands-down the best Torta I have ever had. Now this was only the first time being here and I will be back, but I stand by my statement. She makes her own salsa and it's hot and flavorful. She uses only fresh ingredients and you can watch her make it the whole time.I hope to be back very soon.

We passed by this place often until it occurred to us to check it out. Cash only. Parking can be challenging but it just is in the area. The place is tiny, 5 stools to be exact. The cook/waitress, same person. I was a bit worried about the freshness of the food given the size of the place. We ordered chicken tacos and steak tacos. Our food was up and ready in no time. My crew gave the tacos a 5 out of 5. Trust me, my crew knows steak tacos so they must be extremely delicious. Chicken tacos can be tricky because unless is grilled chicken, one is up for disappointment. My chicken taco was really tasty and big!!! One was all I needed. Tacos are $2.50. If you are looking for a date spot, this is NOT the place. If you are hungry and want delicious and fresh food, then go for it. I couldn't help to notice the family pictures on the fridge. This is a small family owned business and it felt really good to contribute to their success. It almost felt like being at home while your mom prepares dinner. A true experience.

The food here is so delicious, I had a plate of menudo and my boyfriend had tacos al pastor and carne asada. Them menudo came with so much meat and the lady who cooked it kept offering me as many warm tortillas as I wanted! She was also incredibly sweet and talked to my boyfriend and I the whole time we were there. This place is truly a hidden gem, and it's 100% authentic.

Small restaurant, big bite. SOOO good! I have been up and down Pilsen in search of the best tacos. I've tried numerous places. For me, this was absolutely the best. For quick "come in and leave right after you eat" meals, come to Tacos Palas. Let me just describe it: four chairs, one grandma in the kitchen cooking, no decor, just love poured into each taco made. She was so cute, sweet and listened to exactly what we wanted. It was delicious. Their al pastor, yum! Chorizo, yum! I asked for extra cheese, no problem. Overall, can't wait to go back :) GO!

Tiny and mighty. This is a wonderful hole in the wall spot to stop for a really good, no nonsense taco. Definitely recommend eating in (if there aren't a lot of you), as the tortillas wilt a little when they travel. The asada tacos are juicy and with a good char on them.On the weekends, the soup options (aka the best hangover remedies you've ever had)--menudo, caldo, pozole are incredible. Those travel really well, so you can call it in and eat it in the blissful quiet of your home.

I'm pretty mixed on the place. On one hand, the tacos were good. I have to give the lady that credit. On the other hand, I was not fond of the physical place itself. I was expecting something completely different and when you walk in, it looks like an old school kitchen where older Mexican abuelitas go to throw down which is exactly what the lady that runs the place does. I'm not normally a sucker for ambience, and vibes but this place lacked that. What it does offer is straight up good food. So take this review for what it's worth. Feel free to check it out if you decide.

Food was good, but the way they charge is crazy. Out of a 26.75 dollar bill i was charged $10 for taxes making the total amount 37.75. Gratuity was not included but seemed like they slipped it in there. I will never come here again. Getting ripped off at places for the amount of meat or items I guess sucks but it becomes the norm but when it comes to ppl charging and ripping you off by saying that taxes are the reason the bill is high. That is crazy.
