This place had no business being so satisfying, oh my goodness. Ghost pepper salt fries!? Burgers under $10? In this economy?Someone fix their ventilation though - we couldn't see the cooks for all the smoke and had to step outside to stop coughing. We survived (it's right by the lake so you can take your burger to the beach), but give your employees a break!

Burger was burnt to a crisp.... The meat crumbled... I do not recommend this place - it was pretty pricey and the food was awful

I've heard about this place so since I hadn't eaten lunch I thought I'd do dinner here.Wasn't very enthusiastic about this place.I went in to look at the menu options. Just a scant few. I was very hungry & didn't feel like going elsewhere. So I order the salt fries without peppers & two double cheeseburgers.I asked for extra mayo--she looked at me like I was completely crazy. And I saw why---they don't have mayo. My first time there, I had to figure it out because she said nothing to me.I said no tomatoes--she raised one eyebrow at me. The burger was smashed as flat as possible--fabulous (or so I thought). The taste was ruined because she flooded both burgers with this watery 1000 island dressing she squeezed out of a bottle. There was no ketchup or mustard at this joint. Just this nasty thin beige crap sprewing out of a bottle.I couldn't catch her quick enough, I was say no no. She scraped off some of it from both burgers. This dressing was icky thin. She squeezed on so much of it that it worked thru the paper wrapping on the burger. The salt fries...she loaded up the liquidy crap on the fries too. I had cheese on top of the fries but couldn't taste it, it was drowned in this crap.I gave up.I spent $22.65. Was not worth it. Two hours after trying to eat this, I'm still hungry & now it's bedtime. This is not a true burger place. What burger place do you know of that doesn't have mayo, ketchup and mustard? I thought I'd give it a chance. I should've walked my happy tail to McDonalds. At least there I KNOW what I'm paying for. I spent time literally washing the mess off the burger at the kitchen sink, to savage this for Thursday's lunch. If you want a good burger with different toppings, go ANYWHERE else, just bypass this place. If you like watery 1 island gunk from a squeeze bottle on top of everything you order, then come here. Now that's I've laundered the burger meat, I'll try to salvage them for tomorrow's lunch.

I was already a fan of the Salt on North Ave, and now I'm a fan of this one as well! The burger is a smash burger, super flavorful, with crispy edges! I got mine with everything, along with an order of Salt fries. My husband came with, and he got the double with Fuego onion rings. When they say Fuego, they mean it! The ghost pepper seasoning they use was really tasty, but had my lips burning for a little bit. The salt fries.... they come with cheese, salt sauce, grilled onions, and peppers & it was a great combination for their already really good shoestring fries. The burgers are thin, so while I traditionally order the single burgers at most places, I would go double here. Orders are taken on a kiosk in the front, while cooks smash fresh balls of beef & grill the burgers in front of you. The aromatic smell of onions grilling while you wait is maddening, especially if you come in hungry, but worth the wait nonetheless. the prices are affordable with a double costing about $8. I'd much rather spend the couple of extra dollars here and savor those crispy burger edges than to drop $5 on a sad fast food burger. This location is right off of the Loyola Red Line, and super accessible for Loyola students. Parking, not so much. If you're lucky you might snag some street parking on Sheridan, but a lot of the side streets in the area are permit parking.

Wow. Expensive, as has been mentioned; it was $26 for two burgers (double burgers, since they say the small is a kids size) and two sides. The self serve ordering machine wasn't working properly when I was in. It errored out on me twice before I could enter payment and I know a couple other folks before and after me had trouble too because we ordered with the employee. The screens on all of these were also really gross; it doesn't look like they clean them very often, even though when I arrived there was only one other person in here trying to use the self-serve.The food was good. I thought the portion sizes were adequate (in that I wasn't still hungry afterward), but it was overpriced. The burgers are of the smash variety so the patty will overhang the bun, so you've been warned if this annoys you. (I like that style of burger.) I don't love shredded lettuce but it wasn't overwhelming the burger, either. My biggest complaint would probably be that the don't sell a plain burger here; everything is a cheeseburger. Yes, of course you can get it without cheese--but every restaurant I've ever been to sells a cheeseburger at a higher cost than a hamburger. So when I order a burger without cheese for my SO, SALT is earning extra profit because they're selling me a hamburger at a cheeseburger price. The onion rings were good, and the fries were as well. I got the fuego fries and let me tell you, they truly are hot! They sprinkle ghost pepper on them and I don't know if I thought I was tough or they would be hot but manageable but they were really hot. I probably wouldn't buy them again just because the heat builds, so although I like the spiciness it gets hard for me to eat them as it continues to build. I'm glad I tried them though! And as I think about it, I should have tried them with some ranch or something. According to the menu board, their lemonade is fresh squeezed. But then they have Dole lemonade in the fountain, so... fresh squeezed?I don't know that I'll be back--or not very often--due to the cost and the irksome lack of hamburger situation. Parking is street only using the Park Chicago app, or you are right by the Loyola stop on the Red Line.

New location by Loyola university! Overall 7.5/10 on the burgers. A little be salty () and they felt like small portions (even the double cheeseburger) compared to other burger places. The sauce is nice and it was well compressed. Salt fries 6/10, could be thicker and crispier. The space is not too big and easily get overcrowded. I love the self service kiosks! I have seen this place on social media a lot so I expected more. Would come back if in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Salt was so unexpectedly good. It is very unassuming on the Loyola campus and when we stumbled upon it, the place was empty. I'm so glad that we found it though. The prices are so reasonable and the food is just so good. The fries were golden and crispy and although I didn't get a burger, my boyfriend was obsessed with his. I will definitely be coming back to try the burgers.

So I'm always looking for a good burger joint. It's unusual that's I find one I haven't heard of though. This one popped up tonight on a search and I thought it was a mistake. Taking up the old IDOF space on Sheridan, this newish place is a solid spot for burgers.Honestly the burger I had (a double with everything plus peppers) is one of the best I've had in forever. The patties were seasoned perfectly and it has the exact right amount of crisp on the edges. The bun at first seemed like it was going to be too small, but it actually worked perfect and the griddling gave it an awesome texture. We also got the ghost pepper onion rings, and they were great. Now be advised that this is real heat and not a tiny bit...but worth it. And this is a Coke restaurant, which is nice. The space is cute with a playful vibe. Love the astronaut painting. And the service was fast and super friendly. Had and shoulders above a place like Five Guys across the board. That is with one exception. The only thing I wasn't super happy with was my regular fries. For a place called SALT, there was none on the fried. That being said, textual they were absolutely bang on. Crispy outside with a soft inside. But I wish that there had just been some seasoning.Regardless of that misstep, this place is a banger for burgers.

Yay to new Salt burger location. A bit further from me compared to the wicker park location. Service was attentive and orders were made to order. The peppers are fantastic!! I enjoyed the burger but it was on the saltier side which I guess it's all in the name. Lemonade was really sweet and good.

Delicious food. Probably one of the best burgers I've had. The peppers can get really intense though so I play it safe and order without them.
