La Cocina Jalisciense

I love their steak flautas and the customer service is always pleasant. I've ordered online and dined in and the service is always swift.

La Cocina Jalisciense is located in a small shopping center at a busy intersection, 95th and Kedzie, in Evergreen Park. I've driven by for years and decided to add it to this year's goal of sitting down in the establishment and checking out the menu. The menu has the typical affairs: tacos, taquitos, tortas, tostada, fajitas, quesadillas, etc. Both the hubby and I set our eyes on the steak taco dinner. I'm glad we made that choice, as I knew if they made a great steak taco, the rest of the food would be good too. I wasn't disappointed. The steak was perfectly seasoned as well as the rice and refried beans. I've visited some restaurants where the rice is mushy. No, at Jalisciense, the rice was perfectly fluffy and the refried beans had a nice flavor - good for dipping the chips. Speaking of chips, those were fried fresh with a nice tomatillo and spicy salsa. I'll definitely make a trip again to this restaurant and try out the rest of the menu.

We decided to try something new when our favorite breakfast spot was an hour wait. La Cocina Jalisciense was pretty good. They didn't have too many options for pescatarians but I ordered 3 shrimp tacos and my bf ordered a shrimp burrito. I like that they have give you the choice of grilled or fried shrimp. The flavor was tasty. Nothing over the top. The drinks were really tasty, I only needed one since it was so large. The service was nice. We were greeted right away and checked on frequently. The ambiance was colorful. They had Christmas decorations and Mexican flair. They also have an cute little integrated bar/to go area.

This is my favorite place to get tacos on the south side. It is casual, and always consistent with great service and even better prices. And the owner is SO nice with great energy. Getting tamales on the weekend is always a treat, as well.

Found this hidden gem and I will definitely be returning. First thing that caught my eye was how clean this place was, and they also offer outdoor seating which is nice. It's self seating, & staff is very welcoming. There's a variety of food options, and they have a pretty nice selection of alcoholic beverages if that's your style. They also offer authentic drinks too. Unto the food!!! I tried the Birria dinner and let me tell you, this was bomb!!! I've tried Birria before, but I love how this was plated & served. The meat, sauce, and flavor was everything & I'm not being dramatic. The meat was tender, and juicy and the red sauce added a extra hint heat which was nice. This was the best Birria I had, and added with the extra seasonings was yummy! Overall I had a great experience, and would recommend anyone to try.

After a busy Sunday of running errands I couldn't resist the urge to get something to eat, tacos are always a quick go to food. I pulled into the parking lot and noticed the indoor and outdoor seating options. I chose to eat inside but it didn't disappoint. There was lots of seating and beautiful music playing to compliment the ambiance. My party and I started the meal with shake and mango Margarita. We tired the cheese tamale with the green sauce for added flavor and it was delicious both ways. The barria and chicken tacos were very tasty and extremely flavorful. I was so happy the chicken wasn't dry!!!! The Keylime strawberry parfait were the happiest ending to such a beautiful meal. The nachos were like some people, nice to look at but cold inside and no substance. I like my nachos hot and messy. These nachos were too clean.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Evergreen Park area. Service is fast and friendly, the food is fantastic and the menu has something for everyone. They put freshly sliced avocado on the burritos and you have to try it for yourself to see how great it tastes.

Stopped in for lunch and tried the Birria Dinner. They have nice dining area, a little stuffy warm for my liking but still nice. The waitress was very helpful with recommendations when I was stuck between getting something I know is hard to mess up or something I haven't had in a while. They serve chips and salsa while you wait as well. The Birria had good taste, the rice and beans could've used a little more love aka flavoring. The corn tortillas were also a little bland but the Birria saved the day. Overall a nice place if you're from the area for a quick bite, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here.

Great spot. Great service and authentic cuisine. Very fresh. My wife had great shrimp tacos and I had huarache for the first time. It was very good. The guac was great and our margaritas were for real. We will definitely return.
