Birrieria Patinos Ocotlán is a family tradition. A mini trip to Chicago is destined to start at Ocotlán. To many, goat meat is an acquired taste and that's what Ocotlán specializes in - though a limited menu, it's highlighted by mouth watering seasonings and a spicy red home made sauce that'll have you drowning your tacos in heat. Though I love the food, much of the staff's native language is Spanish - as a native speaker myself, I can see how the language barrier would prevent others from trying this restaurant. That, and there's never any parking on 26th St. They only accept cash, and throughout your dining experience you'll have vendors trying to sell you cheese or Mexican candies. I will admit that Covid 19 has enlightened me to how comfortable we used to be being jammed packed like a can of sardines. This time around, during the pandemic, having tables less than six ft from one another made me highly uncomfortable. Because the restaurant is always so busy (I've never seen it dead), it always seems dirtier than clean, though the staff is quick to pick up after their tables. The food is amazing. I would give JUST the food five stars, but a restaurant is much more than just food, it's the experience it provides, due to these minor details, Ocotlan is a 3/5. Hopefully in the future they're able to revamp the style of their restaurant and not simply keep their loyal fan base but garner even more.

little cute place specialized in lamb in little village. around lunch time there are a long line for take out, but if you wait for a bit, you can normally find a place for dining in.The lamb soup is amazing! liked both the one with bones or just the meat option. The tacos are great too, especially the lengua one, very tenderThe horchata is so so, a bit too sweet

A friend recommended this place to me. I was hoping they had hand made tortillas but they DON'T. Also, it is CASH ONLY. The birria is tasty. I've only ever had it one other place so I don't have much to compare it to, but it was flavorful, the meat tender and the broth spicy and robust. If you have never had goat, the flavor might be a bit off putting. If you have ever had goat CHEESE, you will find the meat has a similar, gamey flavor. This seems like the place everyone brings the family, so it felt quite awkward dining solo. There was about a 15 minute wait to be seated, and no menu at the table. A limited menu, but they seem to do it well. The cleanliness of the place is a bit alarming, though. It is rather dirty. the restroom was God awful, I wish I had never gone in there. Interestingly, some random guy was selling home made cheese. He offered me a sample and it was delicious, so I bought a wheel for $3 and it cooled my mouth after the spiciness of the birria and salsa.A small bowl of birria and a bottle of pop $13.I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, though I wouldn't refuse if someone invited me to go there with them.

I have been coming here ever since I was a little girl. I love that their flavors have remained consistent and have not changed because it is an amazing flavor that our Mexican community truly enjoys. Even though the place is a little small it's just something about it that makes it feel so comforting. Especially the waitresses who to this day still recognize me when I go enjoy a plate of consomé. I definitely recommend their maciza tacos for those who like myself do not enjoy fat in their meat. & it is also cash only for those who are visiting for the first time!

If there's one word to describe this place entirely it's this: marvelous! My family and I love coming here all the time; the waitresses here are very friendly and make you feel at home. Although they only serve one type of meat, goat birria, that's all they need to keep you satisfied. The cooks know what they're doing making sure it's cooked to perfection. I swear one bite of that taco and your mouth gonna get watery. They're so good that you can't just have one; you go for 3 or 4. And for all my horchata lovers, they got that too with the big 32 oz cups; they're horchatas in my opinion are top 5. Deliciousness all for a great price. So next time you trying to plan on getting tacos de birria , come to 26th street and get ready for your taste buds to go on another world; it's worth the drive
