This place is legit. Spicy, but they nail the spice level exactly what I wanted (your mileage may vary). Fast service, nothing special but very polite. The dining room has a college area vibe, stripped down and simple but clean. It's all about really good, fresh, well-executed, spicy Sichuan food. I'm a fan!

The Chengdu Ignite Noodles are 10/10! Similar to Dan Dan noodles but the noodles itself were thinner and had some peanut flavor to them. The Master's Dry Chili Pepper Diced Chicken is quite spicy. We got both dishes at the "Spicy" level which I thought was the max I would go to enjoy the heat without compromising on the flavor - they do have two more levels above it if you are the daring kind. The service was super quick. They are not known for their customer service for good reason because they don't really smile at you or greet you. The interactions felt very detached. Some people may not like it but I was totally fine with it - I was there for food not to make friends.

A no frills spot near Drexel and UPenn. Good spot for a quick Chengdu Chinese if you can't make it to Chinatown for whatever reason. The food was good, just a little on the sour side. Spices were good though.Quick service and helpful.

Cozy mom and pop style restaurant whipping out Chinese & Sichuan food. Think of a take out Chinese restaurant spot, sans the ugly plexiglass barrier, now add a place to sit and there you have Chengdu! The food is far from your usual Chinese takeout spot though. The flavors are wayyyy more elevated. And if you like spice, you'll be very pleased. It's not tamed down American spice level, it's the real deal! My food favorites were the pork lo mein, stir fried string beans and the spicy chili oil dumplings. The service is nothing to write home about. I actually had a reservation but there was no true check in, and tons of empty tables, so after establishing eye contact with the girl running the cash register, we just sat ourselves. Level set your expectations and enjoy the food!

Overall: really tasty, authentic Szechuan food with plenty of seating and good serviceThis is a great spot in Philly for tasty, authentic Szechuan food. We ordered the Master's Special Diced Chicken, which was like a kung pao fried chicken. We also got the mala dry pot with lotus roots, wood ear fungus, bok choy, and tofu. The food is delicious, but be warned that it is extremely spicy. There are five spicy settings and we picked the middle one, but it was still extremely spicy. Rice has to be ordered separate. The restaurant interior is spacious and clean. There were plenty of open tables on a Saturday night. Service was fast and friendly.

The best Mongolian beef I've ever had. There was so much flavor it was very very delicious. When you come in you're seated and the menu is online and you also place your order online so there isn't much interaction with the host. It was quite packed when I went on a random weekday but I understand why cuz it was so so good! Will def recommend

Ordered takeout from here. Casual atmosphere, and seemed pretty busy. My order was not ready when I arrived, and I was told it would be another 10 minutes. I do like that this restaurant gives you the option if you want rice or not. I ordered the fish dry pot and scallion pancake. The texture of the fish was very dry and seemed overcooked, but the málà was SERIOUS!! I ordered extra spicy, and my mouth was numb! Definitely loved the spice level on this dish. Scallion pancakes could have used more scallion, in my opinion, but were very flaky and delicious otherwise. I would come back here for the peppercorn numbing again.. Strongest of anywhere I've had in the area.

I've never really visited China so I can't really call myself an expert. But over time, Sichuan food has become comfort food, even though I'm always reaching for the spiciest options and sweating/burning (aka loving it). Chengdu has been a staple favorite ever since I set foot in Philadelphia in 2019. I've tried many of the popular, more famous joints in the city and kept coming back here. Even after moving out of Philly and finding favorites in NJ (which in my opinion has some of the best Sichuan food, way better than NYC), Chengdu holds a special place in my heart. We came to Philly after a year and had to make a pit stop here despite being quite full. The Master's Special Diced Chicken (T5) is something I've not found anywhere else (or as good, at least) - crispy, filled with spice, has you sweating soon (even with regular spice levels), and something we tend to order on most visits here. We paired it with the Red dragon wonton (W4) this time, which has a sweet/tingly broth and is delicious yet light. I packed a large side of rice after wrapping up the leftover chicken and the person didn't even charge me for it. I don't know if I could not love this place, ever. Other favorites include the Dan Dan noodles, fish in chili oil, dry pot, scallion pancakes...Okay, have to visit Philly more often.

Get the Chengdu Ignite Noodles. As Thanos would say, Rain Fire!Hadn't been here in a few years, prices have increased and portion sizes for takeout are small. Keep that in mind. I've only ordered protein dishes here once and those are more expensive now too. For comparison, it's about $3 more per dish than Han Dynasty, at least for the noodles. But Chengdu also has some interesting dishes I can't find at Han.This trip we had the following for takeout: Chengdu Ignite Noodle - Spicy chili oil, ground pork, peanuts, noodles. My mouth waters thinking of this. One of their standout dishes. I've had that dish each time here, you can request different spice levels when ordering but it's still spicy even when "mild" spice is ordered. It's really tasty. Didn't see this at Han. Dan Dan Noodle - A lot of ground pork, some sesame sauce and bok choi, not as peanutty as Han's, but still spicy. Wonton with Garlic Sauce - OK, garlic sauce was not overwhelming compared to the chili oil version (Red Dragon). Get this if you have folks who don't like spice. Didn't see this at Han. 10 pieces. A smaller dish than the first two. Chengdu Liangfen Jelly Noodle - Cold, wiggly, mung bean jelly noodles in chili oil. A smaller dish than the first two. Spicy even though the chili oil had dissipated a bit when travelling for takeout. Han has two versions of this now for comparison. Tofu or chicken would go well with this sauce. Ordering online was simple. Apparently onsite ordering is interesting since they have a QR code you scan, or use a touch screen. Had to wait a few minutes when I got there but did get a notification by email when ready. Paid Street Parking with parking apps or kiosks mid-block. Would definitely return.

Philly has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to szechuan restaurants. Would totally try the chilled fungus dish and vegetarian Dan Dan noodles again! Medium spice was spicy for me and I'm accustomed to spice.
