Chef Rose Jamaican Cuisine

We dined at Chef Rose today and had a mixed experience. The BBQ Jerk chicken, Curry Goat and sweet plantain were excellent, but we were disappointed by the rice and peas. It seemed excessively seasoned with black pepper, overpowering the other flavors on the plate.However, the most disappointing aspect of our visit was the abysmal customer service. the lack of attention from the staff significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. Between the fact that there was ZERO acknowledgement...not a "hello", or "I'll be right with you", even though we were the only customers there, and the long wait times (it appears they cook one plate at a time.. it took nearly an hour to get our 2 meals)- customer service clearly is just not a priority.Lastly, this is not a dine-in restaurant- it's really a take out spot that you should call and place the order an hour ahead. Inside there are no tables, just one long table facing the parking lot with 4 or 5 stools and 2 tables outside.I strive to give fair reviews and will not base on food or customer service alone, but an average of the overall experience .... 3 stars seems almost too high for what we experienced and for the price of over $50, but it's an honest review, that's what is most important.

Bang for your buck! Saw the reviews and had to try! We also suggest like everyone else to order early via phone. Depending on your order size it may take 30mins-1hr as things are made fresh. Seating is limited so most likely it'll be a takeout order. Since everyone said they ate before taking pictures, I took on the personal mission to let my phone eat first and boy did the smell made it tempting! Portions were huge and we realized we ordered (3 orders) a lot for 2 people.Jerk chicken $7: is spicy! There are more veggies than meat but that's a healthy portion. Oxtail $30: this was deliciously marinated and textured as the meat was still juicy and tender and fell right off the bone. Would get again. Chef Ital stew lunch special $10: lots of veggies. Sweet but with a slight spicy/peppery kick. Quinoa, lentils, chickpeas, pumpkin, callaloo, sweet potatoes, & herbs.Sweet plantains: Yum! Could never go wrong with this!Creamy/coconut grits.Cabbage: I dislike cabbage but it they somehow made it taste good!Friendly service as they all greeted us when we came to pick up our order.

I have an abundance of praise for Chef Rose that I fear the Yelp word limit won't suffice. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by the cashier/waitress who is consistently amazing. She's always ready with stellar recommendations on what to order. A word of advice: calling in your order beforehand is wise, as all good things take time. Chef Rose ensures each plate is freshly made to order. I've frequented Chef Rose's establishment dozens of times, and without fail, every dish boasts outstanding freshness, consistency, and flavor.I've been let down by family, friends, employers, and colleagues, but Chef Rose remains unwavering in excellence. Today, I indulged in the steamed vegetables and jerk tofu, along with a lunch special of brown stew chicken. Hours later, my taste buds are still in a state of ecstasy, a testament to the exceptional meal.The tofu and vegetables were seasoned to perfection, cooked thoroughly, and served piping hot--each bite prompted a little happy dance. And the brown stew chicken, goodness gracious! That's how chicken should be served. I'm certain Chef Rose marinates his chicken for at least 24 hours; it was tender, juicy, and practically melted off the bone with each bite. The plantains accompanying the meal were flawless, each bite a nod to my Caribbean ancestors rejoicing in the afterlife.To wash it all down, I enjoyed Chef Rose's signature homemade pineapple and ginger lemonade--a tear-jerking experience of pure joy. I couldn't be happier. Chef Rose, you are a true gift to this earth. Some spend their entire lives searching for their purpose, but I'm grateful you found yours. Thank you for making my year, and I eagerly anticipate my return. If I could, I'd give this place 10 stars out of 5, because it's just that exceptional. A must-try for anyone seeking culinary bliss. 100000% recommended.

I was visiting Ft Lauderdale and ran into this gem. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas and boiled dumplings. I was a bit surprised to hear the food was "made to order" and that it would take 35 mins to prepare as I was starving! Unfortunately it took 1 hour and 15 mins to prepare, but I have to say the chef put his heart and soul into this dish. It was fresh and delicious and made this Jamaican proud! I highly recommend this restaurant, just be sure to plan ahead and call in your order before you go. They do have a small counter space for you to eat, but most of their business seems to be take out. I also want to add that the owner was kind enough to offer a beverage for the long wait. I had the homemade fruit punch and that was also awesome. If you're looking for amazing Jamaican cuisine, give this place a try!

100% halal, chef rose is great in communicating and taking care of customers. I ordered curry chicken and jerk chicken with brown rice and fried dumplings on the side and we loved it. My mom tried her first ever Jamaican food she liked it too. The place is mostly carry out food and ambiance is good.

***Chef Rose***I came in today and had your Snapper dish. It was a culinary artistic expression of your passion for food design and delivery...Needless to say I was very impressed. Your dish tasted amazing with flavors that danced across my taste buds...You used the spices and garnish like a artist palate to paint errrr cook up a master peice...It was prepared and packaged with care. Thank you also for your customer service.The sorrel drink was also very tasty with a beautiful balance of sorrel and ginger.Tip--order in advance as each dish is prepared fresh to your likings.Thanks Chef!!

Was greeted by Chef Rose and has some fun interaction as we decided what to order to bring back to our hotel to eat. Food was amazing and well worth the 20 or so minutes I took to prepare it. Highly recommend!!

Was referred to this restaurant and I'm happy I was. I called during the afternoon to inquire about the hours and location. Spoke to a gentleman and he was very pleasant and helpful providing the information i needed. I got there around 9:20 to place my order and was greeted with a lady who wasn't the most helpful. Being my first time there, i asked questions regarding items, in which she pointed me to the menu. I asked if the bbq jerk was spicy in which she told me, she's never tried because she doesn't eat spicy food. That wasn't my question LOL. We asked about another item, and again the answer was almost like we were aggravating her. We proceeded to place an order for Jerk Chicken with festival, and BBQ Jerk with fried dumplin and rice & peas. She advised it will take 30 minutes, which it took a little over 45. The festival and fried dumplin were both fresh and tasty. The rice & peas were ok, not bad, or great. The BBQ Jerk was amazing. It's literally seasoned to the bone underneath the skin, exactly the way I would like it. Could've been a little more spicy but I was afraid to ask the cashier when ordering LOL. All in all I will definitely come back again. Food is fresh so my only suggestion to customers would be ordering in advance before arrival. My suggestion to management is to train your staff to know customer service is still important to businesses.

Great food, considerate service, would 100 percent recommend. You can smell how fresh the food is just walking in.
