We got the mixed Shawarma wrap which included chicken and beef. It was very flavorful. We also got the beef shawarma fries which were unique because the fries had tzatziki sauce on top. The shawarma meat here doesn't taste the same as other places. It shreds more and is very flavorful. The guy at the window was very friendly. We called ahead and placed the order so we wouldn't have to wait.

What can I say? It's freaking delicious. I got the beef shawarma and that's what I recommend. I got the plate which came with some veggies and rice and a delicious garlic sauce. I also tried the hubby's chicken shawarma, which was also delish! The hummus was good too, but they didn't provide any bread or naan to go with....boo! And this was weird, they served eggrolls. They were good too, ha! But definitely a very weird option to have on the menu. Anyway, the food is amazing and well priced! Talk about eating a very tasty meal for under $10!Follow me on my way to Foodietown! http://britneygfoodie.yelp.com

Chef on the Run Halal is a middle eastern style food truck located near NRG in the Hotel Ylem Parking lot. Owner, Muhammad, hails from Egypt where he told me if worked for decades in various restaurants. Moving to US 5 year ago, he decided to take his experience and passion for good food and open a food truck to bring Houstonians halal friendly delicious meals! My husband and I went there on a Friday night. We did not order ahead so we had to wait about 15-20 minutes for our food. All the food they cook is made to order so you may end up waiting but your meat will be fresh and juicy. Trust me, its worth the wait. But if you're in a rush, I recommend calling ahead of time and placing your order. We ordered the fresh lemonade with mint which was honestly one of the most amazing lemonades that I have ever had. Much more like a slushy, it was blended with ice and there was a LOT of mint. It was super refreshing for the Texas heat. We ordered Chicken Shwarma Fries. These fries are loaded with chicken, cheese, garlic and hot sauces. They are listed as an appetizer but one serving is more than enough of a meal for 2 people. Its HUGE. My only complaint was that the cheese was a bit overcooked (not burnt) on the loaded fries and became hard. But lets be real, cheese is always delicious. We had the chicken quesadilla which was served with a side of pickled vegetables. Be sure to ask for more garlic and hot sauce on the side. The chicken platter which came with 2 giant grilled chicken breasts served over rice with garlic sauce and pickled vegetables which was perfectly grilled and moist. And finally, the highlight of our meal was the mixed grill platter which came with rice, pickled veggies, chicken and lamb. Hands down, the lamb at Chef on the Run Halal is worth every minute of the drive to this food truck!

I don't recall ever having to throw food away before, but this was just so awful!I ordered a Chicken Shawarma wrap and fries. The gentlemen taking my order seemed distracted and had to ask me to repeat myself a few times. I showed him the 5% off offer from checking in on yelp and he seemed confused. There were no prices on the side of the truck. I paid what I thought was a little high for a wrap but didn't complain. I selected to have my receipt emailed to me. When I later checked it I was charged for the platter which is more expensive.I noticed in the truck there were two spits (not sure if that is what you call the grills) of meat. One was turned off with meat that was nearly black and looked like it had been burnt, and another going of some better looking meat. I just assumed they would not be serving the burnt meat one...After about 15 minutes (there was no one waiting ahead of us) we got our meal and left. When we got home I took a bite and had to spit it out. It was very hard and burnt. The wrap was cut in half so i thought maybe i just got a bad piece or something. I tried the other half and it was just as bad. I threw the wrap away and went looking for something to take the awful taste out of my mouth. I munched on the fries a little but they were old tasting and soggy. I really wanted to like this place because they had such great reviews but in the end I got over charged for a meal that took a long time to come out and was inedible. I'm hoping maybe it was just an off day for them but I will not be trying them again.

When it comes to chicken shawarma I already have my faves in Houston (Fadis, Gyro King, and Shawarma King). However, I'm always up for trying new places and since the truck is nearby, I went and checked it out. Ordered the chicken shawarma plate with a side of baba ganoush. Chicken shawarma plate comes with pickled veggies (carrots, cauliflower and red bell peppers), garlic sauce, and basmati rice. Pickled veggies were on the salty end, but a nice palate cleanser. Garlic sauce was good as well. Now the chicken shawarma was really the highlight! Very different from all the other chicken shawarma places I've had here, but flavor is definitely on point! The basmati rice was also super fragrant and flavorful - I couldn't stop eating . Chicken is also very moist. However, the overall dish is on the greasy side, albeit delicious.Baba Ganoush was not very good, I do not recommend. It was really watery, like they had forgotten to drain the eggplants after roasting, so instead of a thick dip it was more like eggplants in a soup. The flavor wasn't that great either. I would recommend Fadis (Meyerland location) baba ganoush if you are looking for a good one. Also, they gave me complimentary pita bread, but it was dry and stale. I couldn't finish the baba ganoush nor the pita bread. Nevertheless, chicken shawarma is definitely worth getting!

When my friend pointed out that Houston seems to have this weird thing with food trucks in sketch gas station parking lots, I joked that it's the sketch places that have the most authentic food. This is what I thought of when I was looking for a quick take-out place that's close by on a weekday night and decided to give this truck a go. I regret not trying this truck sooner. They're so so so so good!!I tried the beef kebob wrap and I'm almost tempted to say that it's the best I've had yet (to be fair I'm no kebob connoisseur). The grilled beef chunks were perfectly tender and flavorful. The grilled vegs were standard. The combo of everything with the tahini sauce and pita bread was just perf!!For $7, I did not expect to get this almost foot-long wrap. I call this a steal! Will def be back!

We catered our Easter party through chefs on the run. Both the chicken and gyro (over rice) were fantastic. The garlic sauce was perfectly creamy and the spicy sauce had just enough kick. The food was loved by all and so many people asked where it was from! Will definitely order from here again! Thank you chef!

I would give this place 10 stars if I could, not only for the quality and flavor of the food, but also for the kindness and generosity of the people who run this business. We arrived at the food truck late at the Festival of Eid outside of the Asia society, they are wrapping up for the evening and is about to close. When we approached the truck to order, they offered us two meals free of charge if we would like, instead of ordering and paying for two orders. When we offered to pay regardless, they kindly said the best payment is to "spread the generosity and kindness to someone else who are in need". How heartwarming is that! I love to support small businesses, especially a business that is run by people with good heart and kindness. The food itself is amazing. We got the chicken shawarma wrap and the lamb quesadilla, both came with picked vegetables, fries and garlic sauce. The meat is perfectly seasoned, fragrant and juicy, paired with the sides, both combos are satisfying and perfect. Love the food, and love this business with all my heart!

We had their shawarma wraps at a friends party and decided to cater the shawarma rice for a party yesterday and I can't say enough good things. Firstly the food was AMAZING. Everybody was asking where it was from. Second the service was the soo good. The owner was soo kind and professional and helped with setup too. He is sooo generous with portions and gives such a large quantity of food, sauces and salad. We will definitely cater from them again!
