Ok, after a long absence I gave this place another try. Incredibly disappointed. Lunch menu. Why. Hot and sour soup although very good in taste is a very small portion. See pic. General Tso Chicken - decent portion but lukewarm warm at best. Not spicy at all. Fried rice - luke warm at bestEgg roll - nothing worse than a cold egg roll. To say I was disappointed is an understatement as I really wanted to enjoy this meal. I guessed "if" I wanted to take it home and reheat it I could have but this was supposed very a in house seated meal. I mentioned all of this to the staff and was given the bill with no apologies or offer to even heat it up. Plus, $3.00 for "A Can" of Diet Coke .. seriously???

Today, I dined in at Chef Chan's Original Restaurant located at the Indian Springs location. This was my first time eating there. My benchmark meal in comparison of Chinese cuisine is by trying their General TSO's Chicken, egg drop soup, and egg roll with unsweetened ice tea. The TSO's Chicken was prepared with a sweet and sour sauce that included peppers but the sweetness of the sauce was not typical for the traditional General TSO's Chicken sauce which is normally more spicy than sweet and is presented in a savory brownish colored sauce. This dish included a sauce that was typically served on sweet and sour pork or chicken. Deep red in color. The chicken was cooked delightfully and crispy and was tender. The sweetness of the sauce took away from the flavor of the chicken and the sauce sweetness dominated any spices that were added such as the red peppers. The egg roll was fresh and crispy but it was primarily filled with cabbage and little else. I only took one bite and found it lacking in flavor other than cabbage. The fried rice was unremarkable, the iced tea was fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent and the restaurant was very clean, friendly, and comfortable. I tipped 20%. If I return again I will have to try some other dish. I have to pass on the General TSO's Chicken.

This might be the best Chinese food outside of Chinatown in Houston. The egg drop soup with corn is worth the drive alone.Real flavor. Great service. Chef Chan has been there every time I have gone, no matter the time. I highly reccomend.

Why 4 stars? Because this was one of the better Chinese spots in the area that we've tried. --- --- --- We moved to the area about a year and a half ago and have yet to find a Chinese restaurant as good as the one we used to visit frequently when we lived in Tampa. While one visit here definitely did not make us forget about the Tampa spot, I definitely think Chef Chan's has the potential to become our go-to for Chinese. My wife was nearby, so I placed a pickup order that she brought home. Despite that, our beef lo mein, pork fried rice and meat stuffed fried wonton curry were all enjoyable, but probably a step or so down from the aforementioned mecca. There are tons of appealing menu items that I want to try here and we will definitely return in the future to make our way through the menu.

Have heard a lot about the original Chef Chan's in foodie groups, so when I heard the original owner was opening his own place after a few years absence, I knew I had to hurry in. We dropped by today for lunch and found a small establishment sandwiched in between crepes and a Mexican place. We were greeted immediately as we entered and guided to a corner table. The service here was outstanding with everything from menus to drinks and entrees brought quickly to the table. And the entrees, well just yum! I had Chef Chan's beef and it was crispy and made to order. When I had a few morsels left, a takeout box miraculously appeared along with sage advice from Lily, Chef Chan's daughter that I consider reheating with a toaster oven rather than a microwave to maintain the yummy crisp. The quality of product here is just better than your typical Chinese takeout, fresh and made to order with first class ingredients, you just can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Can't wait to go back. So glad you returned to The Woodlands dining scene

We were at Chef Chan's in Grogans Mill. No ambiance whatsoever, gray/black walls empty of decoration, food - not good! Hot & Sour soup was good, egg roll not bad but main, General Tso's chicken was bland if you can believe it!! Hubby had beef with mushrooms and bean sprouts, I tasted some of his but encountered a flour lump, very pasty piece of beef, sprouts were salty and I like salt but this was too much. Even the presentation of the meal was not good. Black plates, soup bowl and cutlery. Overall perhaps a good place for after a funeral meal.

We wanted to try a new place for Chinese and Chef Chan's did not disappoint. We had fried rice, sesame chicken and wonton soup. That's kind of our litmus test..they need to be able to do those things right. Everything was hot and very flavorful. We will certainly go back and try some more stuff off the menu. Totally recommend this place.

Horrible. a short year ago we would order dinner to go after a long two day drive getting into town and feel refreshed. the last six months have been incredibly disappointing. if you order vegetable fried rice be prepared to dig for the slivers of egg and vegetables in there. You will pay dearly for a serving of rice dotted with a few peas, one sliver of carrot,a single bite of egg, and snow pea. Incredibly disappointing. This is our last experience with this establishment.

We had the Chicken and Vegetables and Mo Go Gai Pan. Generous portions but both had a very bitter almost vinegar taste.
