Pretty good prices for a neighborhood liquor store. I like having something a few blocks away when I'm on borrowed time. Love the owners....very friendly. They carry the usual. Beer, wine, liquor, champagne, etc. Small amount of parking.

My wife and I were in town, Bourbon hunting and randomly stopped at this place. We encountered David who, immediately engaged and asked if he could be of any service. Since we were looking for certain bottles, we asked and of course, were told, "No, we're all out". However, we have X,Y,Z and perhaps you should consider this, or that, or maybe would you entertain this? That right there is why we will be back. We purchased about 3 bottles we had no intention of getting (Somewhat expensive) and had a 20 minute long conversation about what we liked and didn't like about bourbons. That's what we love about Bourbon hunting and this guy made it great. We cannot thank him enough and will be back to this store next time we make it to Houston.

This liquor store cracks me up. I've parked in the parking lot next to it and driven by it so many times on my way to Onion Creek. The other day, we were looking for a liquor store that was close by, so we stopped by here. It's really small and clearly a neighborhood stop. The guy behind the counter was talking all chummy with the guy ordering. It's pretty small but it's jam packed with stuff. All the good stuff is behind the counter, on the floor is more mixers and wine. The prices are like you would expect from a liquor store. I looked at wine and decided I would wait until I got to a grocery store, the bottles were about $3 more a piece. There are a lot of small liquor stores in the city, many of them are musky and old and have a bad selection, this location is a bit better than those place. It's not like Spec's with a wild range of options, but it's A-Ok for a in-a-pinch moment.

Here's the thing, I made a Yelp account JUST for Charlie Liquor. I'm not normally one to complain. I've worked in customer service, I get it. And yet, here I am. Thank you, Charlie Liquor.Let's face it, I only stopped by Charlie Liquor because it happened to be next door to some of Houston's most glorious breakfast tacos. I was in a gift giving mood and figured a nice bottle of scotch would suffice. I know absolutely nothing about scotch, so I casually asked the woman behind the counter what would work in my price range. The woman behind the counter grunted "Here's the scotch." Since I still knew nothing about scotch I pulled out my phone and looked up different kinds. Glenlivet vs. Dewars? Complete gibberish. I suppose I stood there a minute too long, because the woman behind the counter proceeded to harass me about my phone usage. "Get off your phone! Just buy something!" She then yelled this sentence about 37 times. I looked around the empty store and let her go on for awhile. When I had my fill of being yelled at, I asked her simply, "I'm sorry, what?" Another 37 rounds she went. I explained I was looking for a gift, but oh no that didn't seem to matter. I was on my phone for a solid three and a half minutes, which is a perfectly good reason to kick someone out of an establishment. Oh yes, that's right, she kicked me out. I thanked her for her wonderful customer service skills (no really I did) and left. So if you are looking to make your day just a little bit worse? Go to Charlie Liquor! Want a story to tell your friends about getting yelled at by a complete stranger for the smallest of reasons? Go to Charlie Liquor! Want to be treated like a child getting dismissed from the dinner table? Go to Charlie Liquor! Want to buy THREE bottles of scotch for the price of one? Go to Heights Liquor on 11th!
