Champ Burger

This was a really good burger. I had a cheeseburger with bacon and jalapeño. Made to order. All toppings, bread and meat were really fresh. I didn't have to wait long I visited on a Friday probably after the lunch rush. They are not open on the weekends. It seems like it's the same staff so that's understandable. Breaks are needed for greatness. They have outdoor seating only with umbrellas. You can order from a pick up window or by calling it in. I guess this is beneficial if it's particularly busy. It was not when I went. It's a burger that definitely needs to be tried.

If you're driving by, and you notice this place -- you should stop in for a meal. This place has been there longer than any other place in the vicinity. That along should tell you how great it is!Burger and fry combo stacks up against any other I've had (in Houston or elsewhere).Do yourself a favor and try it out!

Nothing to say that hasn't been said, after 60+ years of happy customers. To put it simply, Houstonians & visitors alike owe it to themselves & this great establishment to enjoy yourself some classic American fare!

Popular local burger stand located in east downtown. Reminded me of a stall at a state fair or amusement park. It was very busy during lunch, a lot of workers were coming by during their lunch break to grab a burger. Ordered the mushroom swiss burger at the counter. The burger was huge, plenty to keep you full for most of the day and it was only $8. They have some tables outside to eat as well.

No gimmicks. Just great burgers. This is a staple on the East side and for good reason. I feel like I want to gatekeep but cant. Nothing fancy at all but damn delicious.Order at the window and they call you when it's ready. There's some seating that is covered but if it's busy you might be standing for a bit.I thought the burger had a great char to it and was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a medium with a bit of pink in the middle. The fixings were good as well with a healthy chunk of tomato. Fries are good. They give you a LOT of them, so I'd recommend sharing.

Champ Burger is a gem of an establishment in 2nd Ward that you should definitely visit! The employees are so nice and the burgers have a delicious classic taste that will keep you coming back. They're open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays and sometimes open on weekends every once in a while. The restaurant is counter service with outdoor seating, it's a great option for a nice weather day. There is a good lunch rush every day but the line goes quickly, the staff have their operation down to a science. If you want to cut down on the wait you can order ahead and skip the line, but the food comes out pretty quickly. different burger orders and the steak sandwich so far

This spot had been on my list for a while now. I waited so long that the anticipation really built up. Once I finally tried it, I was not disappointed. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich and a side of onion rings. The sandwich was good 3.5/5, not great. The onion rings were great 5/5. I went at about 2:30 pm, there was a line, not long, but longer than I expected for the time of day. I will definitely try a burger the next time I stop by, definitely recommend.

Hear me out! This burger spot is top tier. There needs to be 10 stars available to rate this place because they delivered a quality burger and it was stacked! As an LA native home of the best burger joints on the west coast. Argue with your mama not me! Champ Burger takes the lead of the closest thing to home. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and loaded.I got the champ burger with cheese, bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, tomatoes and lettuce. No need for a double patty, this is not your in n out size burger the one patty will do just fine. I thought my cousin was exaggerating after the first bite until I tried mine and she wasn't. It was the real deal! All I'm going to say is if you are in second ward stop by and give champ burger a try. Not only is their food good but the prices are great, give good portions and the staff are nice. This is a burger stand vibe so whether you want to eat in the outdoor seating area or take your meal home the Champ Burger team got you! See for yourself and support this business!
