Chalupas Mexican Grill

Stopped by this new place that opened near me to try them out. The reviews looked good, so I wanted to try for myself. Everyone is correct about the service. They are so kind and very helpful when you have questions.So to start, I ordered a frozen pomegranate margarita and it tasted great! It wasn't too sweet and had the perfect amount of tequila. The chips and salsa were oh so tasty! I even got seconds of the salsa cause the waiter could see how much I enjoyed!The menu had so many options to choose from. I received a few recommendations that I plan to try the next time I come, but for now, I ordered the Cadillac Platter and the Shrimp Cocktail. Figured I could take one home, which I ended up doing. The platter contained chicken flautas, chicken quesadillas, stuffed jalapenos, beef and chicken nachos with sour cream, guacamole, jalapenos and tomato. I enjoyed the quesadillas the most. My next visit, I will order just those. The other selections were good, but the quesadillas were the best.The cocktail was delicious! I only ate a little bit and it's what I took home. The sauce had the flavor that every Mexican shrimp cocktail should have. I might have added more Valentina, which is what I'm going to do later when I get home, but if you like Mexican cocktails, this one will hit the spot.I ordered flan to go, but snuck a quick taste. It was so creamy and had a hint of a coffee flavor, which surprised me, but it worked! So delicious! Can't wait to finish off the rest!The atmosphere was delightful. Granted it was a Tuesday and it was barely lunchtime, but I enjoyed looking around at all the televisions and wall art. The music was my kind of music! It was like a 90s Tejano mix that took me back to my childhood. I am definitely returning! Hope to see some of you reading this there! Let me know how your visit goes!!

This place is great. I can definitely see this becoming a regular dinner place for us. The food was great. It came out pretty fast and was so well made and delicious. The salsa was unique, really flavorful. The service was quick and super friendly. The restaurant is bigger inside than it looks and they have several TV's over the bar. Seems like a good place to watch a game and have a drink. Really happy with our dinner tonight and I know I'll be back.

This is a new Mexican food restaurant on Mason Road near Franz Road. I have gone 3 times and each meal I have ordered has been excellent. They will customized to suit your taste by adding onions, sour cream, extra Mexican sauce, jalapeños etc. to their menu selections. Speaking of the menu, it is vast with every TexMex favorite plus quail and fresh seafood with so many combinations you will want to return to try something else. The interior is colorful and cheery with many TVs that would rival a sports bar. The wait staff is wonderful and friendly. I would encourage you to try it out for a great meal.

Walked into the restaurant and it was bigger then I thought it would be. Got seated right away, very nice Ambiance. I ordered the stuffed chicken and also some queso to go with the chips. Everything was really good. The kids meals were good and well portioned. The service was good and quick. Will definitely be back

Newly opened I decided to try this out for lunch. Was surprised when I walked in, big restaurant with a nice decor. Huge bar with televisions all around the whole restaurant. The waitstaff was very attentive. Food came out hot and yummy. My son had the fajita chimichanga and he enjoyed it. I had the lunch Tampico especial and it was good. Another good Tex mex restaurant. Will need to come back and have dinner and drinks 1 night.

Just couldn't resist coming back!!We tried the Cadillac Platter this time and it came out hotttt. Everything was yummy, I was very happy with the Flautas. Sometimes the filling can be a bit dry and lifeless coming from restaurants, but these were far from it. Stuffed generously too. Great service again as well, I'm convinced this place may be my newest obsession. :)

Place is HUGE. Very spacious. Unfortunately had a sewer smell right when you walk in. Was very put off. We went on a Tuesday night so it was very dead. Service was a little meh. But not terrible. Large frozen house margaritas were . So good. We started with the fried shredded chicken avocado and that was so good. Fried to perfection. Hubs and I shared fajitas for 2 with Chalupas toppings which were jalapeno, tomato, onions, cilantro and the were so good! I subbed my charro beans for refried but they were in the salty side. The rice was good and tortillas could absolutely pass for homemade. We will 100% be visiting this spot frequently!

After seeing some good posts about this place on one of my Facebook foodie pages, I decided to give them a try. Walked in and was greeted with a smile and seated right away. I opted for the Baja Shrimp Tacos and sadly, I was disappointed. Menu said that shrimp was sautéed in red butter, however, they didn't look or tasted like they were sautéed in butter. Shrimp were decent sized, not at allFlavorful and I didn't really cares for the chipotle aioli. Wish they would have paired it with a sweeter sauce. Was not impressed with the guacamole, beans, chips and salsa either. The corn tortillas were good.There was only one other table with maybe 4-6 people when I got there and another of maybe 6-8 when I left. Staff was attentive enough and that's why I gave them 3 stars.

We had a family gathering here recently and everyone agreed that Chalupas food was the most excellent in Houston!! Such great flavors & freshness that we plan to make this restaurant our go-to spot! Not one dish was boring or plain, but exceptional in taste!Our server was great, courteous & helpful! The inside is nicely decorated and much larger than its outside appearance. This is the best kept secret treasure in Houston!

Wow - what a surprise, this place was not what we were expecting. Great decor, fabulous service and great food and awesome margaritas. We will be back.
