This truck is my favorite way to enjoy bulgogi. I get so excited about variety, and I love hitting Korea, Vietnam, and China in one combo. I prefer the tacos to the buns, as my pork belly bun was not as rendered and crispy as it could be, but the Korean BBQ / bulgogi taco MORE than made up for any concerns I might have.Like Jennifer P. said, they have excellent combos to try everything and it works out to a good value. I also enjoy the Asian slaw, it was a nice light crispy accompaniment to the rich and juicy meat tacos.I definitely recommend, I'm only sad they don't come around my office more often.

I expected just average multicultural food from a truck that advertises that it offers it all, but they still managed to underwhelm me. I ordered three items and even though I didn't pay for it, I regretted wasting the space in my stomach.Korean TacoThis was probably the best out of the 3 items I ordered. Comes wrapped in tin foil and I understood why as the tortilla crumbled as I tried to pick it up. Decent flavor once I scooped out the meat filling with my fingers. Pork Belly BunNothing special here. the bao(bun) came prepacked and I saw the dump them out of a bag and heat the on the spot. The pork belly was slathered in hoisin sauce, which was probably a good thing because it made it somewhat edible. JapadogThis was nothing more than a cheap supermarket hot dog in a cheap bun coated in teriyaki sauce with some strip of seaweed and other sparse toppings. It is the saddest thing I've ever seen come out of a food truck. On top of the subpar food, it takes them a long time to fill your order. My wait was almost 1 hour after placing my order. Avoid this truck, save room in your stomach for something worth eating.

Last week Chai's truck happened to park outside Raleigh Brewing Co. So I had a chance to try out it's tasty menu.Everything is divided into three menus: tacos, (Chinese steamed) buns, and dogs (NO! Just because the menu is mostly Asian does not mean it's what you think! I meant hot dogs! geez)Being who I am, and my undying passion for all things street food, I made no hesitation when I told her I wanted the three items combo:1. Chino Latino taco - I'm sure the 'Chino' comes from Asian style marinated chicken, and the Sriracha salsa. Not bad2. "Five Spice" pork belly bun - Growing up this was a very classic food in our kitchen, so I maybe judging a bit harsh, but I like the fat in the pork belly rendered a little softer, and it needs something else to balance the pork marinate and Hoisin sauce; the bun tasted a bit too sweet for my taste.3. "Saigon" bun - which is really a Banh Mi in a Chinese steamed bun. The taste is spot on.Chai is a definitely a good addition to Triangle's already booming food truck scene. Any food truck that give out kimchee as side dish is great in my book. Cheers!

I had the pleasure of eating here while at Brewgaloo last Sunday and their food is soo amazing!! I had never heard of this truck (there's so many now in the triangle!) but I was attracted to it by the wonderful smells wafting from the truck. I tried the Five Spice Pork Belly Bun and the Korean BBQ Taco and both of them were absolutely heavenly. Both were perfectly flavored, the meat were absolutely tender and delicious, and the buns were so soft and perfect. These items were so much tastier than Kokyu's regular menu items so I would definitely recommend you check this place out if you like Kokyu. I'm surprised this truck isn't as well known. The only downside is that most small items are $4 which means if you're trying to get a full meal here it can be on the pricey side. I spent $16 + tax here for 4 items (2 buns and 2 tacos), but there's always a combo option available which is 2 items and a side for $9.

I'm from the SF Bay Area and was here on a business trip. Since there's not that many good foodie places to eat near RTP, I decided to do a little digging and hunt down a couple of food trucks nearby (tip: you can use www.truxie.com).The Hoorays+ The buns and tacos are to die for, especially the pork belly and Korean BBQ. The kimchi/Asian slaw sides are also pretty tasty. + There are good options to bundle your food (2 items + side for $9, 3 items + side for $11)+ Service is really fast.. I have no idea why this place does not have a bigger followingThings to Note...- If you don't bundle the purchase, things can get a little pricey. Each bun/taco/hot dog is $3.50 each. You might as well go for the combos- If you are looking for a meal and not a snack, please keep in mind that these buns/tacos are fairly small and you should be prepared to buy at least 2 (and likely 3)I'll be hitting this place up again when I return for my next trip!! Enjoy folks.

I tried Chai's at the downtown Raleigh food truck rodeo and was pretty underwhelmed. I ordered the korean bbq taco and the pork belly bun. For a $5 single taco and $4 single bun, I expected more in both quality and quantity. The pork belly was decent, but definitely NOT the melt-in-your-mouth goodness I've had before. What really annoyed me is that they taxed the order. So instead of an even $8, I ended up having to give $9 and received change in coins. This was the first time a food truck has charged me for the tax. It was off-putting that they weren't willing to take the minuscule hit per order for the convenience of the customer. Keep the payment quick, fast and easy for your patrons and eliminate having to fiddle around for an extra 38-cents, or whatever. Service wasn't particularly fast, either.

This food truck comes to our office all the time. So far, I tried the Korean Taco, Moo Shu Pork Taco, Chino Latino Taco, Japa-Dog Hot Dog, & Mexicali Dog Hotdog.. They are all VERY good. I rather the hot dogs over the Tacos because you get more food, but everything is very yummy. Also, the Asian Slaw & the Shrimp Crisps are delicious. Try both if you can.The truck is a tad bit pricey so try to get the combo because you'll save more money that way.I will eat here again & again so I can try everything they have.

So torn because I really like the food and the flavors (of the various Asian food truck options, I think these guys do it best)... but they mess something up nearly every time I see them! Sighting #1Spring Durham Food Truck Rodeo: I eagerly jumped in a short line early on, excited to try this new truck, having earlier researched their menu and Kuanyu's review. Then I waited. And waited. And the line grew longer. And we all waited. The truck never opened. They were having some kind of equipment difficulties, that wasn't really conveyed to those of us waiting in line. My husband had to drag me away a half-hour later, half assuming the wait was a lost cause, and half reasoning he didn't want to order food from them after watching them covered in sweat from tinkering in the tiny truck trying to resolve their mechanical issue.Sighting #2This was the charmed sighting, as nothing went awry. They were parked outside of Fullsteam, and I picked up a Banh Mi and a combo of two buns and shrimp crisps. The price of the banh mi had risen from $7 (advertised online) to $8.50. It's a shame these sandwiches are skyrocketing in cost at nearly every purveyor in the Triangle. I think Chai's has one of the best banh mi I've had locally -- good crusty bread; plenty of nicely seasoned meat; crisp veggies -- but the price is a premium... particularly when you can get a comparable banh mi that comes with seating and far less sticker shock at Parts & Labor. Shrimp crisps are a yummy and nostalgic note from my childhood, and they fry them up perfectly here!Sighting #3Summer Durham Food Truck Rodeo: I hit them up first, and once again, they were facing some sort of unknown issue that prevented them from opening. I revisited a couple of hours later to find them up and running, but with an incredibly abbreviated menu -- just a few things on offer, and no opportunity for combos. I skipped out, disappointed.Sighting #4A friend alerted me that they were serving lunch near my office. I drove out and placed my combo order. They were not serving the shrimp crisps (despite having them listed on their truckside menu), so I ended up asking for the kimchi side, along with the Korean BBQ Taco, Pork Belly Bun, and Saigon Bun. Alas. I arrived back at the office and unwrapped my food to reveal the kimchi was not packaged with my order. Way to go, guys. The taco was my favorite of the three items -- truly marinated meat, fresh cilantro, and a smattering of kimchi. The Saigon Bun was my least favorite... especially given how much I like their Banh Mi, I was surprised at how lackluster this was. The Viet pork sausage was flavorless, and it came topped with a few shavings of carrot and daikon. It looked wimpy, and tasted just as sad. The Pork Belly bun is far better; they use a meatier/less fatty type of pork, which I personally prefer. It's tender and spiked with hoisin. Prices for the tacos and buns are about ~4 apiece. The combo is the most cost effective way to order (especially since you need a few items to constitute a full meal) ASSUMING they remember to actually give you the side you order.

This is what a food truck should be! In my mind, food trucks should be serving delicious, flavorful, creative, quality food, and Chai's always exceeds my expectations. Just the aromas wafting from the truck should tell you that place has something good going on. The items are reasonably priced, especially if you get a combo. I love the Korean BBQ taco and the Five Spice Pork Belly Bun. They make everything fresh to order so be prepared to wait while they cook your food, but boy is it worth the wait! Be sure to check them out the next time you're at a triangle food truck rodeo!
