Chaat Wala

Chaat Wala is a new local Indian snack, drink & ice cream place in Ambler that never ceases to surprise! The staff are kind and attentive. The tables are clean and the décor is at once nostalgically attractive and unpretentious.The shop's uniqueness in terms of menu variety is its biggest strength. There's really nowhere else you can find puris and rose lassi and a dozen other niche Indian street food & drink menu items unless you find yourself all the way in NYC. The portions are great and the quality is always better than you would expect: especially the goat curry!I would especially recommend the pistachio ice cream which is absolutely chock-full of nuts! Though my absolute favorite is the Kheer (rice milk pudding) that is unlike any I've ever had before: dramatically deeper in flavor than anywhere else I've tried. Simmered for hours and with a caramel unctuousness that really fills your whole soul with sweetness. You can really tell there is a lot of love and care put into this wonderful little place.

Owner seemed nice but the chaat had no flavor (they used tortilla chips instead of papri). The ice cream selection is decent though!

Samosas are great; samosa chaat is even better. They 100% understand what "vegan" means, too! They've kept the coffee and ice cream from the previous tenants, and added kulfi.

This restaurant is just okay. The food seemed like it was frozen and then just heated up. Much better Indian food other places

Great Indian food place in the location that was Toto's Gelateria for years. Very friendly, accommodating owner and staff. Take and and eat in. There are tables--they did not remodel, so the ambiance is Italian sandwich and gelato shop, serving Indian street food. :)Large portions -- one meal takes care of lunch/dinner today and lunch tomorrow. Well priced, and they kept the ice cream from the prior shop.Highly recommended.
