Review for Monday Steak Night CASH ONLY Parking is limited, you can park on street in front Cecil's Pub sign.If you don't eat steak, you can walk over to Pink pizza to order pizza while others eat steak. I'm not really a steak kind of person but the ribeye was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The jalapeño made her potatoes was really good. Plating was a better presentation than going to a steak house. The pasta was good. My friends really enjoyed the lamb chop and steak as well. The sauce that came with it was really good, I believe it was the ninja. I've been to a few steak night in the past, by far this one is the winner worth the $20. Just a heads up bar can be slow & a waitress takes your order for food & drinks. Check out the chefs Instagram page meatmojo for more info where he serves steak night throughout the week.

Divey but a great chill place for pool, darts, books, patio, real jukebox etc. When I was there, great rock n roll tracks really enhancing the dingey, divey, rock n roll vibe. Great happy hours, $2.50 gin n tonic by surprise when I was there. Sat 1-8pm.Summary : that divey smokey bar you love without the smoke.

Came to this pub, because a friend recommended it for steak night on Monday. The steaks were great! They were a good size (12 ounces ), they were seasoned well, and the side of mashed potatoes were flavorful. I ordered my steak medium, and it came out medium well. However, I didn't return it because I was extremely hungry and didn't want to wait for another one to be cooked. The steak was after all, really tasty, so I didn't mind it as much as I would have. The downside was that the bar didn't take card for the food, and didn't have an atm inside. We had to leave and go to a corner store in order to withdraw cash, what a drag. The bar has a good variety of beers on tap, as well cocktails and mixed drinks. Staff was friendly, and our waitress was so kind and attentive. The place has a juke box with a good selection of music, and pool tables. They also have a large patio, and private parking lot, which I a plus. Will definitely be returning for the steaks !

The drinks here are pretty cheap . I enjoy the Chill environment here to hang out with friends. It is not too loud. They also have a nice patio to sit outside. The reason why I came is because of the Meat Mojo Steak night on Monday. His steaks are always on point!

Just another local dive bar where you can pop in to chat with friends or try some good selections. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, and it was slow, but it was nice to try an old school bar. They are in the process of some renovations, but this bar has been a nice little hangout place for years. We were told that the wood used to make the bar was taken from the bowling alley in the Bellaire area by the railroad tracks. The bartender was also nice to remind us about some drink specials, other bars which hosted theme nights, and some other history about the owner. There were some drink specials when I visited, such as $2 Bloody Mary's and $2 mimosas. I had to try a mimosa because it was my first time. Basically champagne mixed with orange juice, this drink was a hit. It is sweet because of the champagne, but the orange juice adds that extra flavor which makes it a fruity drink. The sweetness is not all that bad once the juice is added. There is a patio outside, but most of the seating is just at the bar. There are some small tables along the walls for small groups, and a couple of pool tables. There's also a bookshelf with lots of novels if that interests anyone. I'm glad that someone cares about this classic bar, hence the renovations that are taking place. I would definitely come back on a more busy day, and I really enjoyed trying my first mimosa.

Came here only for the steak night. Nothing special then a regular old dive bar. Service was slow with no waiter so you have to line up and order at the bar.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon. Place was fairly empty. Then we realized most people were on the big covered deck smoking. So they have a big covered deck for smokers. They also had a ton of drink specials. $2 bloody Mary's, mimosas, well drink specials, etc. It was super relaxed inside and we plopped down at one of the little tables for a couple cocktails and to watch some of the Astros game on one of their two TVs.Bartender was quick and had a nice pour. So it reminded me of the Montrose clubs we used to go to on Sunday afternoon to get a good buzz. Music...but not so loud that you couldn't chat or watch the game. The bar itself is kinda cool. We were told it's the bowling lanes from the old bowling alley off Bellaire at the railroad tracks. So that's kinda a cool thing. The owner loves Scotch, so if you are a Scotch drinker they have a great selection for a neighborhood place in the Montrose. Most of the seating is at the bar or the patio. There are some small tables for two or three folks along the wall. They are in the process of some remodeling. New flooring and bathrooms. Someone cares for this place and it shows.

Its a friendly neighborhood bar. Nice patio. Pool tables. Chances are you will have a nice conversation if you want to. Not too loud usually.

Do you enjoy exhausted bartenders that don't understand that "put it on my tab" doesn't mean "also put it on my friend's tab because we just love double dipping with double the pay for half the alcohol"? Then I've got the dive bar for you!Cecil's was a standard back in the day for inner loop workers looking to knock a few back before heading home, but its fallen from grace since COVID. The drinks are weak as hell and I am running 3 for 3 for being overcharged on my tab assuming my friends I covered one or two rounds for may have had their tabs ended up on mine, only to find we've been either double or triple charged per drink. No good deed goes unpunished I guess and at the very least this isn't a bar you should treat friends at if the point of sales system is so complicated that this has been a repeated issue. Try Lola's if you need to stick to the Montrose or Lil' Danny's up in the Heights for similar vibe if you want a dive bar that's also run competently.

If you love neighborhood bars with a unique feel this is a great place to visit. The staff is beyond great, very knowledgable and easy going. A great place to either start or end your night. Parking is easy and also walkable to nearby bars too. Massive patio to enjoy those breezy nights as well. Highly recommend this bar if you're in the midtown/montrose area.
