Our family is lucky enough to live nearby and we can walk to George's, which we do every week. On Fridays he cooks racks and racks of the most delicious ribs I've ever eaten. He does a Texas style brisket that is to die for. Call him if you want to know what's on the menu for a particular day, because their menu is different by the day. I have never had anything from George's that is not the best food imaginable. Sometimes he has cracklins, and you can sometimes catch some different soul food or something on special. George is a staple in the community, is very kind and supportive, my kids love him and we continue to enjoy going there as frequently as possible.

George catered my daughter's wedding on Oct. 6th and the pulled BBQ was wonderful. The guests at the reception commented on the quality of the food. We had a very happy wedding reception!

George hosted us for a neighborhood meeting, and the food was great! Nice tangy bbq sauce on the chicken, creamy potatoes, and perfectly seasoned sauteed squash. The fresh rolls were a treat!

There is an EFFORTLESSNESS kind of cooking going on in a small shop by NCCU. Southern soulfood that is vanishing from the dining scene quietly onto the night. In rediscovering Intown living and dining, don't by pass some very consistent delicious food from George. They come in early and stay late to make some absolutely delicious hot fried chicken and crispy fried fish that hangs off the sides of your to-go container. Generous portions of gooey Mac and cheese with real corn bread and collards. I like that they don't over salt their food and the veggies don't have pork in it. Today's health restrictions are understood by George and his family so you can ask with confidence what makes their sides so tasty. Go and enjoy a vanishing piece of the American dining scene.

If you are looking for some good down home cooking, there are two great places located right near NCCU and this is one of them.. The chicken here and the greens are very good, and of course George is always fun to talk to.....Definitely a place I would recommend....

07/29/22 called -no answer. Drove to location. Signage and name/info on window removed. Appears as though renovations for a new business are taking place. CLOSED

Great food and service. George is an amazing cook with a heart for serving the people. If you want that good stick to your stomach soul food or miss your mom's or grandmother's good cooking come check them out! Reasonable prices and clean facility with nice size eat in dining area with TV.

George is restaurant owner who cares about Durham community and has excellent food. Thanks for serving your community well.
