Carolina Coffee Shop not a bad place for breakfast. The shop is a little dark and the seats are small but the food is good.We were seated immediately to a booth it was pretty tight and the lamp on the wall gave little light, only the front was shaded the rest was exposed bulb.Emily was our server she was quiet. The menu had a lot of options- I got the CCS omelette with feta -somehow I didn't get a biscuit and was charged extra for the rye bread?I traded the bread with my husband and the top of the biscuit was good (bottom over cooked) the omelette was good it had ham, feta, onions and peppers. Served with really Creamy grits.Bathroom was messy.

An average American brunch experience. We sat down fairly quickly (at 11 am on a Saturday) since we were a party of two. We only waited 5-10 minutes. I enjoyed looking at the large menu with many breakfast options. I chose the grilled chicken wrap and my friend got the eggs Jennifer. The service was alright, and the wait for the food was pretty long. But I understand they were busy. Our food was plated nicely when it arrived, and it looked pretty good! The taste however was pretty subpar. It was lacking some meat, the cheese was not melted at all, and it was overall missing some seasoning to it. The wrap was a good size, but the tortilla itself was super oily. Pretty mid level experience: I probably won't come back but it was nice to try.

Carolina Coffee Shop is a cute spot to grab a tasty coffee or tea and catch up with a friend or get some work done. Located on the main drag in Chapel Hill, it has to be a popular spot for UNC students. The coffee came out quickly and tasted delicious!

A solid option on Franklin St for those who want to be part of the Carolina community without being part of game-day chaos. I've had sandwiches and brunch entrees here and haven't been disappointed. The staff is also always happy to recommend something to try and will give their personal favorite modifications. I love the variety of dishes available for everyone, whether you have dietary preferences or restrictions. Their coffee is Carrboro Roasters (at least when I was there, not sure if it rotates!), which is cool to keep local.

Overall excellent experience! Waited about 15 minutes for a table, busy Sunday morning. Waitress was very friendly and meals were excellent. Got an omelet which was stuffed full, homefries were very good too! Gluten free toast was average but not a huge deal. Very rustic inside and clean!

I learned that this was a staple when visiting UNC which meant I had to come by for Sunday brunch. My friend and I came here around 11am and it was absolutely packed. There was no seating inside and we were told it would be approx. a 30 min wait. We put our names down, but then asked if we could sit outside at one of the empty tables and then after the staff cleaned the table, we were promptly seated. We both ordered the Chicken and Waffles and I also ordered a Cold Fashioned. I liked that the menu had more coffee cocktails than just an espresso martini. The chicken and waffles tasted good, but I do wish it was hotter in temperature. My side of collard greens was good too. My cold fashioned came out after I had already received my food, but it was really good! The service was a bit slow, but otherwise the food was worth it. I'd probably wait to sit inside if I came next time to get a better feel for the restaurant

Carolina Coffee Shop is my go to restaurant on Franklin for breakfast and for lunch! I have eaten there more times than I can count. I love to eat outdoors when the weather is nice, and indoors, the old wooden booths are dimly lit by lanterns, making for a really neat environment. They have a diverse menu of both food and drink, and I have never ordered anything bad. The drip coffee is some of the best I have ever had! Sometimes the service is a bit slow and it seems like they have high turnover of their waitstaff (which probably explains the speed). The food and the environment are well worth the wait, though!

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. This is a college town. Still, I was stunned at how reasonable the prices were. The quantity and the quality of the food were not sacrificed. So happy I walked in the rain to try this very friendly venue.

This is a great place located in the heart of Franklin Avenue and downtown Chapel Hill. Busy with locals, visitors and students, it is a small, bustling cafe. I love the history reflected on the wall through old pictures. We sat in a booth along the wall which fits 4-6 people. The service was great. We started off with coffee both hot and iced. Then our mains were the chicken & waffle and the "eye opener" which was two eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. Both mains came out hot and satisfied our taste buds. Coffee did not disappoint either. This is a great local place to catch up with friends. Check out their website for a variety of menus and hours.
