Carletta's Hideaway

I wanted to fall in love with Carlotta's but it just wasn't meant to be. Neighborhood lounge that has seen a brighter day. The bathroom was disgusting. The interior needs attention. The drinks and food were so overpriced for basic fare. Not the friendliest crowd either. Luckily I was with great friends so it didn't really matter.

We went on a Saturday evening and the place was jumping. Pack your patience because there are only 2 bartenders and a bar back. We ordered the fried whiting sandwich and it was delicious! I'm not sure if they always have tarter sauce, but the hot sauce had flavor. I'm still tasting that fish

Love the servers and the drinks. Love this spot because it's an older crowd and it's safe. Food is good. Always a party.

Food is good,service is slow and ambiance is lacking. If you like to seat around on bar stools you would be fine because it is not a restaurant

First I just want to start by saying I enjoy this place. I've been here several times and have always loved the food and drinks. Even the older crowd is nice to be around.On Saturday October 10th I experienced discrimination. Not for being black but for who I love. Not once but twice. The first occurrence was by a patron of the establishment concerned with me using the woman's bathroom. The second occurrence involved the receipt. The waitress ,instead of labeling our table a number, labeled our table "dike". The waitress was addressed and could only use the phrase "i didn't know what else to put". She then apologized profusely. Still didn't feel sincere. Security addressed the situation after the waitress reached out to them. They assured us the situation would be handled. Unfortunately the next day I went to check my card and found that there was adjustment to to charge. The bill was 41.50 my card was charged with an adjustment for 49.30. This prompted a trip back to the bar Sunday morning at 11:30 am. The manager was addressed and we were given more assurance that the waitress would be disciplined. Not dismissed but disciplined. Not sure why this didn't happen at the end of her shift the previous night. We were also told there is no way the receipt or charge could be altered after the card is swiped. Explained they only take cash tip which I am familiar with. I was given a refund in cash for the "requested" amount of 41.50 and offered shots as a peace offering. Monday, columbus day, my card was adjusted back to the original "requested" charge. I wonder why. All in all that waitress needs to be dismissed or legal actions may be taken. It's already too much black on black gay hate. This needs to stop. This experience was hurtful. I find it difficult to want to patronize this business again.

Okay let's try this again. Security is awesome. They are gentlemen and always speak. They have signs to deter a particular crowd. It appears as if they prefer mature individuals which is a PLUS for me and makes the environment feel safe. Bartenders are very nice as well. There is one girl who screamed at me and hung the phone up on me over an order she failed to confirm. Extremely rude. Never experienced that kind of treatment from a waitress in my life! Took 2 stars off based on her poor attitude. All the other times though, the other younger ladies are always very nice. Like super nice. The food has been really good 6 out of the 7 times I've been and the prices are reasonable. I'd recommend.

The first time I came I had the Hideaway Fries and a friend had the chicken wings. The cooks know what they are doing. Another time I enjoyed the $1 shrimps. I'll try something different next time and will be sure to update you on my experience. Street parking. Service is good. Take cash - it's just easier.

I literally passed this place hundreds of times going over the bridge and I never knew it existed until my little brother told me about it!!! I'm glad he did!Pros: We went during Happy Hour. Good Drinks and a chill, neighborhood vibe. You could see the menu via a QR code which is much better than staring at the walls for the menu. Everything is made fresh. My Fried Chicken Wings were HUGGGEEE! Nice, hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. A lot of places around here need to take a couple of chicken lessons from this place! (Like Mr. Wings a couple of blocks away) but you didn't hear it from me!) My brother got a fish platter with veggies. The portions were huge! We ate and after 2 of their Long Island Iced Teas, I was like I love this place!!! They have Karaoke and always have a DJ going.Cons: The parking is tight. They do have a parking lot, but it fills up quickly, . You can park on the street, however, if the parking area is filled up, that means the inside is full. They aren't that big, just like a neighborhood bar. The only other con I have is a personal one. I'm short (5'3") and a beautiful BBW, so It was hard for me to try and hop up on one of the tall stools to sit on. All of the seats were full at the bar, so I just stood up. The Verdict? I LOVE IT! I would recommend it to anyone that wants to chill and get a couple of drinks with friends, as well as some good grub!

Love it here! Food is DELICIOUS! Older crowd. And Renee the barmaid is soo nice!! I get collards and potato salad!! Worth the drive from the mainline.

The food is absolutely excellent. The candy yams were like thanksgiving dancing in my mouth. The service was great . Music was nice, people nice. Being from new york living in south jersey past 3 years i was pleasantly surprised. I will take this ride and have multiple times. You will not be disappointed. I even took my 16 year old there for take out. He refused took a taste if my greens and placed a large order. Very very good. Ive trued a few things and its all good. That chicken was fried like my moms. The fish was good greens mac n cheese. You cant go wrong with anything you order including the potato salad.
