Doing family-style Chinese food here is a treat! We went here for a friend's birthday (his family is from China). They give them points for authenticity and I give them points for delicious, large serving dishes. The staff expertly served our group of 10, bringing out food when it was ready for us to share. The tables and decor are nice as well. Our meal split evenly came to roughly $25 a person, including taxes and tips.I will definitely come back or do a takeout order in the future.

After living for 12 years in China, my standard for Chinese food has gone up and is impossibly high now. I'll admit this restaurant is definitely more American-Chinese cuisine, but my preferences still apply. So take this as a disclaimer.I saw a lot of multigenerational Asian families in the restaurant, so I assumed it wouldn't be awful. My friend who grew up near Marietta told me this was his favorite place. We went to the Roswell location since it's more central between where all our friends live. He was determined to hear my opinion.Let me say that the food wasn't bad. But it wasn't good. It was just "okay". The portions are obviously huge. I got the pan fried beef chow fun and the mapo tofu. I also tried the wonton soup my friend got as a side for their combo meal. I had hoped the leftovers would taste fine, but the noodles turned a weird consistency. The mapo tofu may have been better than the noodles. I'd rank the wonton soup #3 of what I tried. The beef in the chow fun was way too chewy. But overall, the environment of a traditional American Chinese restaurant can't be matched. It doesn't have to have new furnishings, just people who love Chinese food around a table.

I wish I had given Canton Cooks a try earlier, their food is fantastic and easily more authentic than other nearby establishments. This place is always super busy whenever I visit, and for good reason! I typically find it difficult to visit places that will serve traditional Chinese fare in the Sandy Springs area, but it wasn't until I noticed that Canton Cooks served salt and pepper squid that I decided to visit. The menu has a nice blend of Americanized and traditional options, with sesame chicken and lobster in black bean sauce on the same menu. On my first visit, I order the beef chow ho fun and the much desired salt and pepper squid. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but upon receiving the food, my world was rocked. The salt and pepper squid surpassed my expectations. The squid was tender, and fried to perfection, with a crispy outside. The seasoning was strong, lots of salt and pepper, just the way I like it. There was also a little bit of spice to round out the entire dish, it was absolutely delicious. The beef chow fun was savory and aromatic. The beef was also very tender and the noodles had a great bite to it. The bean sprouts and green onions gave the dish some great color and bite to the dish. It's a little on the oily side, but nonetheless, a very very good dish. Even their fried rice is special in my eyes. Most places have just chicken, beef, shrimp or combo fried rice. Canton Cooks had a tender chicken and salted fish fried rice, and it was a well put together fried rice. The rice itself was seasoned and the proteins gave the fried rice complexity and great flavor. It is definitely one of the more unique and traditional fried rices in the area! The food is a bit on the pricy end, but it is super worth it (rare coming from me). Their portion sizes make it so that you can easily turn a dish into multiple meals, and the overall quality is simply worth it. All the employees that work there are very nice and takeout orders are prepared quickly. Canton Cooks is easily one of the best Chinese restaurants in Sandy Springs, and if I wasn't moving soon, I'd be here so often!

The food is very tasteful but the price is kind of high. If you're willing to spend $30 on yourself to eat this is a very tasteful restaurant to try

This is the real deal for Chinese food! Went here with my buddy from Taiwan and both of us loved our food. We both ordered the Kung Pao shrimp lunch special which came with Soup (Hot & Sour or Egg Drop), fried rice, and egg roll. See pic. Large generous portion and had leftovers for the next day. FYI My choice was egg drop soup which was better than my friend's hot and sour soup. Many other options on the menu. Fast attentive service. Pay for your order at the cash register on the way out. Located just off Roswell Road near the Whole Foods Supermarket (which is easier to spot). Lots of free parking.Enjoy!

My all time favorite Cantonese restaurant! Featuring many variety of Chinese and Cantonese dishes, which caters towards everyone. The food is top notch here and has been consistently great over the years. I highly recommend the Salt and Pepper Squid, Hong Kong Style Steak, dou miao vegetable, and pan fried sea bass. Can't go wrong with the fried chicken wings either. Service is quick even when the restaurant is busy. If I lived closer, I'd go all the time!

We come here at least once every few months which is a lot for us since we like to try so many new places We always get the dragon soup, Peking pork, salt and pepper squid and fried sea bass We also ordered mapo tofu and snow pea leaves this time With hot tea, total came around $250 which seems like a lot in my opinion but the food is still good enough that well be back The dragon soup has crab in it and its tasty but it's kinda pricey for a soup. I love the fried sea bass but I think it's like $40 or $60 alone so will probably skip it next time. It is a really nice and crunchy texture and comes with a ginger sauce though. The noodles are good and worth their price and have a ton of toppings. Their mapo isn't very spicy but it's a good size portion and consistently delicious, making it one of my favorite things to order here Peking pork is worth it with tons of pork & sweetness. It's a sweet, sour, savory dish & texture is kinda crispy with the sauce on it and tender on the inside. This one is located in the Petco / whole foods shopping center so there's a ton of parking

We've been going to Canton Cooks almost every Thursday night for over 20 yrs. We were shocked when we walked in to find Tom and Cathy had sold the restaurant. Our server was quite rude and the food was just plain awful. What had been a place like "cheers" is no longer there. We will not be returning and wonder how long the restaurant can survive!

After being a regular patron for over 20 years, I was shocked to go there last night to find that the original owners Tom and Kathy have sold the restaurant. The change is dramatic and sadly not in a good way. The friendly service and great food are gone.It is like the loss of an old friend.
