Thinking about this place always makes my mouth water, and I always make it a point to stop by when I'm in Philly. The cart is small and unassuming, but the food is delicious. The only thing I've tried, and the thing I keep coming back for, is the chicken Bahn mi!! The chicken is always moist and tender, and the mayo-based sauce ties the pickled vegetables and bread together beautifully with the chicken. The owners are nice, and are as efficient as possible with getting orders out. I recommend bringing cash to pay if possible.

They only take cash and venmo but the bahn mi here is banging. Highly reccomend if you need a quick sandwich on the go. The meat tastes delicious, the bread is delighfully crusty, and the vegetables are fresh and crisp. Careful though, the oil that drips out of this sandwich is hard to get out of your clothes. Not... that I would have ever experienced such a thing. Just something I heard or something.

This review is more like 4-1/2 stars. I have passed by this food truck very often, and have know people loving this food. Pre-pandemic times there used to be a long line around lunchtime. Since this is on Univ of Pa campus, when the students did not return to campus due to the pandemic this food truck also did not come back. Fortunately, once the spring semester welcomed back the students the truck also returned. I was relieved to see them back. During this difficult economic time esp in the food industry I am trying my best to support smaller businesses. This food truck is operated by two older women, and they are super nice. Due to the cost increase from their purveyors they had to also increase the cost of their food. I ordered lemongrass pork with rice ($8), and lemongrass pork banh mi ($7). You also get a free bottle of water with your order. Pork is seasoned and cooked just right, and everything else tasted like I was eating home cooked meal at a friend's house prepared by their mother. Will definitely go back!

Delicious and super flavorful tofu banh mi for 7 which id say is a very price effective option in the area. The tofu is seasoned super well and cooked fresh to order and the bread is soft with a nice crisp on the outside. The only thing is i wish there were more veggies bc ours only came with tofu and pickled carrots!

Can Tho City is a food cart on the south side of Spruce, just west of 36th Street.I've tried the lemongrass pork and rice platter, which is very good. The meat is flavourful, with some pieces cooked to a crisp. The platter also comes with a fried egg, a cup of sweet sauce to go with everything & a bit of salad with pickled carrots, etc. $6Service is good and efficient.

Been eating here ever since they were still a Fruits Salad cart. Their Banh Mi & Rice Platters are super authentic & delicious. The #2 Banh Mi are limited each day, so grab them at asap since they sell out quick. My go-to orders are: Chicken Platter + 1 fried egg and #2 Banh Mi. The ladies there doesn't speak much English, but they are super nice & accommodating - so be PATIENCE. You just have to tell them what you want & don't want in your food; don't assume.Another tip: don't wander too far after you ordered your food. If they call out the order, and you're not there, chances are someone else will step up and take your order (happened to me). So if you need to buy other food or drinks (they only sell water), do so before you place your order. They make their food pretty fast, so it's not a long wait at all.

This is a relatively new Vietnamese food truck on Spruce St. They didn't even get a name until sometime this week. Their selection includes banh mi, rice platters, mango salad and udon noodles and is between $5-$6. I wanted to try their #2 viet ham (thit nguoi) banh mi but they only had the #1 pork (thit nuong) banh mi so I just went with the flow. The banh mi was fresh, warm and delicious. I was impressed with the flavors of the pork and the amount of included toppings. Looking forward to coming back here and seeing what else they have to offer!

Solid option when craving a banh mi on campus. Can Tho City offers the classic campus food truck experience - order the food, wait a couple of minutes (more or less depending on how busy it is, with peak hours being around lunch), pay for your food in cash, then find your own place to eat it. They had a notice that as of Feb 1st 2020, they had to raise the price of all the items by $1 because of rising food costs (which is actually similar occurrence every few years among many food trucks nearby). So the banh mi are $6 and platters are $7 (platters come with water bottle). So the prices are still decent but it starts being comparable with Chipotle, which is my benchmark for all meals. The banh mi is delicious and flavorful! Slightly smaller than I had been anticipating but I was still full at the end of my meal. One final quick note that I've been noticing more lately regarding hygiene is that the lady preparing the food only uses one glove, and occasionally touches bread etc with the un-gloved hand. If you're particular about that stuff, might want to consider when you visit here.

Great addition to the limited Viet food options in UC! Lemongrass pork & rice was very tasty, authentic, and plentiful for the price! Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
