Different Cheesesteak #887. Guest Eaters Mike, Messy Pat, Quiet Mike and the Skin & bones. Cheesesteak guy hanging out with the fellas. Great neighborhood bar. Tommy is in the kitchen and he can cook. This is a slice of cheese and a touch more moisture in meat away from being top tier cheesesteak in the city.

Wow, where do I start? This place was dynamite. We just moved a block away and wanted to try Toms lunch special, we sat outside and Tom greeted us and let us know the special of the day which were cream of mushroom and eggplant parm. I asked if they had a soup and sandwich special and he said he would do it for me. I really wanted to try the mushroom soup so I had that and a BLT on a brioche roll. He brought me out a crostini that knocked the cream of mushroom out of the park. He said he makes everything from scratch minus a couple apps and you could tell. There wasn't anything my dish lacked. My fiancé got the 5 alarm burger which had major heat. The burger was definitely homemade and scrumptious. The the jalapeños were crisp, the onion were sautéed just right, and the hot sauce was for heat and not a just a "hot/spicy flavor." The crinkled cut fries were nothing I've had before. They were salted and crisp perfectly. We'll definitely be back for Tom's cooking!

Love this spot! Great local dive bar type feel with surprisingly great food (the bruschetta is my favorite so far). Good service, cold beers and a few board games for grabs. Would love to become more of a regular here.

This review is long overdue. A year or so ago, I first stopped by Callahan's and somehow lost my phone, but I didn't realize this until we were halfway home. Upon returning to Callahan's to see if they had seen my phone, Frank, one of the employees and perhaps owner, actually helped me look for my phone. And by "help", he walked with me and my friends up and down Schukyill Ave, searching the roads, sidewalks, tall overgrown grass until we found it. I wanted to leave Frank with some money as a thank you tip but he refused it. I couldn't believe how awesome Frank was that night. We really had a nice time at Callahan's from the laid back environment to their beers and food, and of course the fabulous people who work there. If you're ever walking down South or need a drink at all, definitely check out Callahan's.

Well, I arrived on a cold wintry Thursday for happy hour. Yesterday to be exact. The A Frame outside touted $4 draughts and food specials- it was going to be perfect for our work happy hour. ... Or was it? Cut to: ordering a #14 lagunitas IPA on the draught list and being asked for $6. Oh, the special isn't happening. Okay. (Secretly NOT OKAY!) We had a group of 8 and it was fine. I always think the main question is: would I go back? Maybe, not on purpose.

Full disclosure, I've only eaten here once for lunch, but if you can base a 5 star review on the best New England clam chowder - and friendly service - that you've had in 12 years, Callahan's certainly earns it. Tom, who took care of me and (I think) runs the kitchen, told me that everything is freshly homemade, and it certainly tasted it. A clean & comfortable pub with a friendly neighborhood feel, very reasonable prices ($11 for a nice pour of wine and a bowl of soup), and an absolutely gorgeous tin ceiling - I can't wait to stop back soon for more!

Best burger I ever had! The roll was incredible with hunks of salt on it. Had so many good specials to choose from. Healthy options too. New to the neighborhood and Donna & Tom made me feel welcome. Crowd is a good mix of ages. Everyone is friendly! Will be back to try more dishes!

Nice local watering hole. Good mix of locals of different ages. Had the pretzel bites and a few beers. The pretzel bites were good enough to make me want to come back and try something more substantial.
