Cali Antojos Colombian Food

Great colombian food. We love the Empanadas with rice!!!! We have also tried the place for dinner or lunch plates and they are good.

Today I went with my family to eat at this new location. The restaurant is nice with typical Colombian decor. Nothing fancy but I did notice that a few tables had not been clean. The restaurant counts with a full bar plus four televisions that stream different channels from Colombia. The young lady that waited on us was very attentive, and courteous. Since we went with my elderly parents, I can also say she was very patient. We ordered beef and cheese empanadas; the meat ones are made of cornmeal and the cheese is made of flour. We received our appetizers quickly however the meat empanadas had more potato filling then beef and the empanada crust was on the hard side. We also ordered Cazuela de Frijoles, rib soup and a traditional Bandeja. All the food was good however when my sister received her soup (sancocho) the rib was no where to be found, they substitute it with grill beef without even asking! When asked about the rib the waitress said "oh we ran out that's why we gave you grilled beef". Let me explain, most of the dishes come with a side dish of rice, maduro (fried sweet banana) and beans so they added the protein to the side plate. I recommend that the wait staff ask the customer first if that is an acceptable replacement as opposed to taking the liberty of making the substitution without even asking. I gave them two stars because of the service plus they had one of the televisions on the news. The news was showing pleasant scenes of a man being mauled by a crocodile and other graphic scenes while we ate. I am glad we didn't have little ones. The food is ok but I don't think I will be going back.

Good food and service is above and beyond. Best Colombian food I've had is all of Houston.
