Cafe Hai Van

Food made fresh, good service, fresh raw vegetables, tea was very fragrant, not a long wait for the food, reasonably price. Come support small business. They specialize in banh cuon, a lot of people were asking for that item. Their bun mam, com ga and mi quang were good. Come support local small business.

I'm between three and four stars.Going with Four because the bread on the bánh mì was really fresh and good. That's a huge component.Ordered two banh mi . Grilled pork and house special.The house special was solid. Solid four stars. Good Vietnamese ham. Great Bread. Good homemade butter. Better/more pate would be the only improvement needed. Maybe a little more jalapeño. Really good pickled daikon and carrot. The grilled pork was more along the three Starline. Same comments on the toppings. The grilled pork itself was well cooked and not gristly or Fatty at all which was good. But the sauce they put on there was not something I liked. It was coated in some kind of artificial tasting mildly sweet sauce that I didn't really like. Less grilled, and more cooked in an oven with a grilling sauce on it if i were to guess. They cooked behind the window so I couldn't really see. Pleased to see that they have Miquang on the menu. Most people don't offer that. That said I can't get it here. It would be sacrilege to go anywhere other than my main spot for that perfect bowl of soup. It doesn't look as perfect when I saw someone eating it here anyway...but I'm sure it's good.Overall a good spot and convenient/worthwhile if you're going to be shopping at Oregon market across the hall.

I received a half cup of soup when I do a phone call order. So disappointed !!! Worsted

I wanted to try this place. Walked in to order a hoagie for lunch. Greeted by an unfriendly and loud male. Upon paying, the unfriendly worker stated they don't take credit cards despite the stickers on the storefront (door) Visa, Mastercard, American Express. There's also a sign that says cash preferred but doesn't say cash only. The place had 3 tables occupied by locals. I had to wait 10 minutes for my hoagie. Never mind the wait and the attitude; what's the worst thing that could happen: I received the wrong order. As much as I want to support this local business, this experience was a complete failure. I will go somewhere else for a Vietnamese hoagie.

Tried this place because it was suggested on UberEats. Ordered a few Bánh Mì. Regular & bbq pork. Both delicious. Def recommend this spot

The banh mis are pretty affordable and great. It also has a lot more filling than banh mis I've had from other viet cafes. All of it tasted homemade, especially the butter and pate. I highly recommend it and the new renovations look great.

Heard from a friend that I should check out this place out, and let me tell you: best decision ever. The food was amazing, the place was clean, and the staff was so nice. I haven't been back in Philly for a while and was craving Viet food. Cafe Hai Van reminded me of home, it gave me the taste of home that I was craving when I was in college. Can't wait to bring my friends and family to this place. Y'all should check it out too, you won't regret it

The food here is satisfying. Portions are enough to keep you satisfied until dinner. The best things here are the Mi Quang and the Banh Mi, but the other options still have a lot of quality if you're looking to change things up. Cafe Hai Van doesn't have a lot of options, but the few things that they do have are good.

Had the banh mi and the special made tasted really good and will definitely eat again. They include three different types of pork as well as a lot of filling for a good price. I can't wait to try more because they offer a wide variety of Banh Mi.

I was in a rush, so I got a couple of BBQ Pork banh mi's to go. They were excellent. I'll definitely come back and try some noodle soups next time.
