The best Stromboli you'll ever eat! I know, that's a bold statement, but I will own it. The Pepperoni Stromboli is salty, a little spice from the pepperoni and cooked in a wood fired pizza oven to perfection. I first had this Stromboli in 2007 and again today, it was a walk down palate lane. The red sauce is excellent This time I also tried the meatballs. They weren't bad but not my favorite. The Lasagna was good but not as good as moms. If you're in Philly, swing by the Reading Terminal and give George's Stromboli a try.

Located in Reading Terminal, this cheesesteak and pasta place is pretty close to the convention center and the Marriott. I was in town for a short stay and would have tried a few cheesesteak spots if time had allowed. I overall the sandwich was good, nice savory beef flavor, a tad salty and the beef could have stayed a minute or two longer on the flat top to add a little crisp. The bread was actually pretty good and not an afterthought, nice and fluffy texture. I actually had to eat these over two meals because it was so huge. The crinkle cut fries were really crunchy and provided a nice contrast to the melty cheesy beef. I added mushrooms which was extra to add.The line at the stall, while marked out on the floor, is split between the deli and the pasta/cheesesteak ordering. Still was a little confusing for some visitors. The line was about five people or so ahead of me so not too long ago wait. The terminal itself is hustle and bustle busy and noisy, very few places to sit and eat, and was honestly difficult to order and hear the cashier with all the noise .

Summary: Located within Reading Terminal Market, By George is a shop that serves all sorts of carbs including cheesesteaks. It's a bit pricey (it was over $24 for a cheesesteak with minimal toppings and a side of fries) and honestly I expected a bit more out of what's considered a staple entree in Philly.I know By George isn't one of the places that people typically go when cheesesteaks are mentioned, but we were in Reading Terminal Market and the spot looked good, so I checked it out. They pretty much add an extra fee for anything and everything you add to your meal. Cheese is like + $3, peppers is like $2, etc etc. I only added 2 toppings and fries and I was sitting at over $24.The cheesesteak itself was ok. The meat was tender and good quality, but the flavor was kind of lacking. I feel like it needed more seasoning or kick to "pop." I think I would've given the place one more star if the price point was a bit lower, but given the price I had higher expectations.Only interaction with service was the person taking the order and he talked so quick, you don't really realize that everything he's asking you want is actually an extra charge. Ambiance there is inside the Reading Terminal Market which is pretty busy/chaotic during most hours. They also serve other food that looks decent, but I think I'll probably try my hand at one of the other many cheesesteak spots inside Reading Terminal Market if I have a craving.

You see the cheesesteak picture is only half because I broke the rule of camera eats first. That's how much I enjoyed this cheesesteak. It's been my favorite one I've had here so far. I had cooper sharp ketchup mayo onions salt and pepper. The line was long because it was lunch time but the cashier was efficient fast and friendly. It was clean and I would definitely eat there again.

This place is in reading terminal and has many pizza options. The pizza itself is a classic, greasy (in a good way) pizza with an excellent cheese pull when you bite. I got the veggie pizza slice and was pleased by the amount of toppings that were on the slice. There is also pasta salads and calzones available. A spot worth checking out!

Only in Philly for a quick day trip and had an out of town guest who had never experienced the city. In trying to maximize our time, we decided to take a chance and consolidate the Reading Terminal Market experience with finding a solid cheesesteak to check that experience off the list. We bypassed Tommy DiNic's roast pork masterpieces and Beiler's bakery scrumptiousness to take a chance at By George. Having lived in Philly decades ago, I was hesitant to use any stand inside the Market as a good benchmark of the city's offerings. That hesitancy proved unwarranted. By George provided a very solid example of what a cheesesteak should be : the right amount of grease, the right chop to the steak, and a great balance of cheese to meat. I had the mushroom cheesesteak with provolone/onions/hot peppers. I was completely satisfied. It brought back old memories as soon as I bit into the sandwich. The hot peppers added just the right splash of vinegar to help cut through the unctuousness of the meat and cheese. In fact, the other sandwich was ordered with the hot peppers and, while still tasting good, lacked that little extra to make it more memorable. The only interesting downside was that they don't have cheese whiz. I personally prefer the provolone, but for those who was the the "whiz wit", not here

Hidden in the Reading Terminal the pizza section on one part of the "L" shaped counter, other Italian dishes on the other side. Ordered a regular slice and a tomato slice to go. The service was slow and where the stand is, close to an exit, people are bunched up on top of each other waiting. When I got back with the pizza, they pack it on paper plates and cover it with a paper sleeve on top of each other which causes the cheese to stick. But, the pizza was very good. A great place to grab a slice but of course difficult to eat at the station.

Not a beef Philly cheesesteak connoisseur so unsure what a good cheesesteak is. It was fine. No strong flavor. If light eater, can share with another person. Meatball is generous in size (3 bites?). Sweet-ish marinara sauce. Standard Cesar salad (light on cheese). Busy market place. Got it to go. 5-10 min wait
