The service here is good. The owner was friendly and welcoming. I had the chicken burrito and tortilla chips. The food is more California than Texas-Mex, so the flavors are a bit milder and more muted, than the cheesy spicy tastes you might be more accustomed to. I enjoyed the burrito, which was huge. The restaurant was clean.

Massive burritos. The kind that make you think... What was I thinking? The selection is pretty big too, and the price is kinda up there as well. But worth it because they don't skimp on anything. The burritos are served with fresh chips and salsa, which unfortunately is not very good IMHO. A better salsa would really work here, and a creamy avocado salsa would hit the spot tóo. But other than that, we've always been happy with this place.Enjoy!

Walked in on a Saturday at noon and the place was empty & surprised. This place is clean, well maintained and the lady at the front was really nice. I got the spicy shrimp Diablo burrito. These things are HUGE. lots of rice, beans, fresh tortillas. A bit more on the proteins would be nice but I'll be back to try a steak or chicken. The shrimp has a kick! Pretty good spot. The verde salsa is killer!

Picked up Rosarito Bowl, Diablo Burrito, and Bean and Cheese Burrito. Ordering over the phone was easy - service was very friendly and welcoming. Food was ready for pick up in 10 mins. Food tasted very good; quantities were ample, and the accompaniment of nacho chips and spicy salsa just hit the mark. Paid $46, including 20% tip. Great neighborhood place to visit/pick up food...

This new fast casual Cali-Mex took the place of a vegan Mexican spot that was quite good. This one is also quite good if you are partial to the Cali-Mex style. The quality is great and the portion sizes are appropriate for the pricing. We had Fish tacos and the nachos and both were very good. Quiet and not too busy the Monday lunchtime we were there and service (counter style) was quick and efficient. The food is cooked to order and wait time was very reasonable. Honestly not my favorite style of preparation and thus the 4 stars but there is little to fault here.

Always a great meal option, extremely filling, tasty and a good price point. I can't get enough of the surf and turf burrito - the best of both worlds.

Finally a carne asada burrito! I used to always have to go back to California to get Cal-Mex. This place is pretty good! The horchata was okay. It was very sweet. I wouldn't order it again. I also didn't care for the tortilla chips. The chips were fresh but just not the taste I like. I did enjoy both the green and red salsa. I found the carne asada meat within the burrito to be more flavorful than the traditional carne asada you may find at an Alberto's. I would visit again and try something different.

Cannot recommended enough. Seriously have to try their breakfast burritos!!! Their lunch is really great too but I have not gone out of my way to get breakfast like I have for their's. One time I worked from home for 3 hours waiting for them to open for breakfast before going into the office.

I was initially thinking this spot was a Chipotle alternative, maybe with a California twist, but it's not. It's more like a fast casual Mexican spot that is counter service. They don't have the make your own bowl, burrito, or salad option. Most of their menu consists of burrito variations. The remainder is mostly nachos, tacos, and flautas, some of which are build your own. After having lived in California for 4 years, I was curious as to how the taste measures up to Mexican I had when living there.I ordered the California burrito and a fountain drink. The Cali burrito comes with Carne asada and fries inside. The first bite wasn't good because I bit a huge piece of gristle that I had to spit out. The Carne asada for the remaining bites was dry and a mix of more gristle and average tasting beef. It didn't feel or taste like high quality by any means. This is a filing meal, though, since the burrito is thick and large, and when wrapped into a burrito, it's a couple of layers of tortilla and rest filling. It is almost too much tortilla for the amount of filling, actually. All burritos come with chips and salsa. I chose the spicy salsa. It has a deep red Chile taste that is something you are more likely to find in New Mexico or cali, but not houston. I didn't end up finishing my burrito since it was just too dry. I feel beef may either not be their best protein or it was just an off day. So I will likely come back to try their chicken and / or fish, which is Alaskan pollack. One note, they have a sign on the sidewalk at the entry, which shows ice cream at the bottom, but they do not have any ice cream.

The burritos are huge! I ended up eating mine three separate times to finish it!! I ordered the chile relleno burrito with beans; my husband ordered the Aztec. Both were amazing!
