Bungalow Downtown Dining

We went here to celebrate my birthday. Started out with the pineapple jerk wings. They were very good. Shots in between. The drinks are steakhouse priced. But it was good. Got the tomahawk steak and some sides. We also added on the sauces which they recommended: Hickory Smoked Butter,Garlic Herb Butter and Spicy Cajun Butter The presentation of the steak was amazing. The sides were all really good. The crème brûlée corn was a bit too sweet for me. But it was a different taste/experience. The Brussel sprouts were also good.It's dimly lit and could be a good spot for a date or a group. I enjoyed it. Service was great from start to finish.

I went to Bungalow for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday. The aesthetics are nice and elegant. They have a nice wall to take photos at and serve champagne upon walk in. For the appetizers, we ordered the Dynamite Shrimp, Creamy Seafood Dip, and Fried Calamari & Shrimp. The Creamy Seafood Dip was AMAZING!! The best app of the night! The Dynamite Shrimp was a bit of a disappointment. 3 jumbo shrimp for $20. Would not recommend if you plan on sharing an app. I ordered the Pan Seared Salmon Filet and we shared a side of Mac & Cheese. Both of these items were delicious!! The service was pleasant. They brought my friend a small dessert for her birthday but would not let up cut the cake we brought due to health & safety reasons. So if you plan on bringing a cake here, don't.

I was in town on business and was told about this amazing restaurant downtown. I was so disappointed in the food. The service was great and the ambiance was amazing. I ordered the Tomahawk Steak ($195), Jerk Wings, Bang Bang Shrimp, along with Mac & Cheese, Asparagus (fried). Now let's talk food!!!! The Tomahawk was presentation was amazing but the steak was the worst I ever had in my life, it was like chewing on cowhide. I spit out more than I ate. Went I brought it to the attention of the manager he told me it was a A5 prime cut. (No sir it was not)!! He offered to cook me something else but I declined because my jaw couldn't take no more. The fried Asparagus is absolutely disgusting, unless you like eating raw straw! They didn't cut the base of the asparagus so it was a mouth full of straw! Everything else was spot on and would recommend them. Please be aware that they charge a 20% service charge regardless of the party size, then ask for a tip. This is foolishness at its best!!!!!!!!!Now finally after sharing my experience with the manager I was hoping for a discount (nothing free) but none was given. I paid over $450 for a meal that was not consumable.

The restaurant was aesthetically beautiful, classy, & clean. We were given some free champagne when we checked in for our reservation, which was a nice welcoming touch. We didn't wait too long to be seated after checking in, which we appreciated. The place wasn't loud, so it's a good place to chit chat during dinner.All of our food and drinks were good but not out of the ordinary; this is more of a neutral comment because it's not necessarily a bad thing. We ordered lychee martinis, strawberry lemon drops, tuna tataki salad, brussel sprouts, seared salmon steak, wagyu jerky pasta, strawberry spinach salad, lobster mac & cheese, & loaded mashed potatoes. I shared the brussel sprouts, seared salmon steak, and wagyu jerky pasta with one of my friends; they were all good. The brussel sprouts had flavor but weren't crispy (which is fine since the menu didn't advertise for crispy), seared salmon steak was good & not dry, and the wagyu jerk pasta was also good & didn't feel heavy which I liked. My friends did not complain about the other items they ordered, so I will assume that the silence meant they were also good, but not anything out of the ordinary or extra special.Really my only not as positive comment was that waiter was nice at first but misheard one of the dishes we ordered. He didn't argue & fixed the order, which was good. However, his attitude and friendliness towards us did a 180 after that.Overall, this place is a good spot to go to for a nice dinner with friends for an occasion or a date night.

The service was very good. When we arrived, we had no reservation but were seated immediately. Our waitress, Dajaih was very attentive and knowledgeable. She descriptively described several of the entrees and beverages. Her use of adjectives was so spot on. The presentation of the food was appealing. The entire experience was great! I rated them a four star due to the brunch menu being somewhat limited in regard to a lack of breakfast items.

Very nice atmosphere great for celebrations, group gathering with individual tickets, or couples date. Warm hospitality the service is spot on.. We found that the fried snapper was the big Hit. Amazing brussels sprouts, asparagus, and warm bread as an additional option to your meal. the other great options were the strawberry salad, mashed potatoes, wings and the pan sheared salmon. and as usual downtown, consider parking fee. We plan to try the Heights location next time.

Bungalow was a great experience. It is located downtown on Main St so packing would have to be on a offsite parking lot located around the corner at the back of their building. We arrived on time for our reservation and it took 30 minutes for us to be seated. You were told if you arrived more than 15 minutes late you would lose your reservation. Why weren't we seated in that time frame?Once seated, we ordered our appetizer which was the Seafood Dip. This was excellent! We could have ordered 2 and had them for our main course. e also had two drinks which one was a BOF and cant remember the other but my wife enjoyed it.Next for our entrees we ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and the Grilled Pork Chop with Asparagus and Mac and Cheese sides. All were excellent. The only problem here was it took a long time for our entrees to come out. hence the reason I took 1 star off this review due to the two things I mentioned above. Neither of those things I mentioned would keep me from revisiting or recommending them to my friends. The service was good and all of our food was excellent and also there were large portions. We had food to eat the next day. I look forward to my next visit.

Red Snapper was delicious. Great customer service (Imani our waitress was very knowledgeable of food and drinks). Decor is beautiful and relaxing.Will be back to support!

If you're looking for a fabulous and really upscale restaurant in Houston, I highly recommend Bungalow Downtown Dining. In a city we visit only a handful of times per year, a city teeming with great food, this is one of those rare places we've repeated. Every single detail is fabulous: from the complimentary champagne to the glittery orange slice in my cocktail to the exquisite tomato-saffron soup to the Cajun ribeye to the lovely and enlightening conversation with one of the owners, this is truly a dining adventure . We will come back again again!

This was my first time here and our server Bella was great! I had the veggie pasta which was pretty good and the ambiance was beautiful.
