Brown Street Coffee & Bánhery

We stopped here several days in a row - why? Because it was good! Great coffees and wonderful light eats. Staff is very friendly, courteous and customer oriented. Unfortunately, I leave today so this will be my last visit this trip. Definitely recommend.

A cozy coffee house in a residential neighborhood in Fairmount section. I did not get to try their banh mi, but their Vietnamese coffee is awesome! Loved the depth of the coffee and just the right amount of sweetness. I also ordered their matcha latte with almond milk and loved the smoothness. Other matcha latte I tried at other places were good, but 90% of the time had the gritty texture. However, at the Brown Street coffee house it was so smooth! The service was good and friendly. Would love to come back and try their banh mi next time.

Brown Street Coffee is a brilliant business! It's a unique cafe that serves traditional American coffee & breakfast along with Vietnamese banh mi's and coffee! Their coffee is one of the best I've had in Philadelphia! Their cubano is made with a nice strong espresso lightly sweetened with brown sugar. Brown Street also sprinkled cinnamon on the drink! Their Vietnamese coffee was delicious too! It's had a good balance of strong Vietnamese coffee and sweetened condensed milk (it wasn't too sweet). The chicken banh mi was good too! They added jalapeños to the sandwich, which I wasn't expecting for breakfast but not bad. There was plenty of chicken and veggies within the sandwich. The bread was a bit rough and will rip the roof of your mouth. The employees working the counter were polite. I was surprised by how they personally knew many of the customers walking in! It truly felt like a small town coffee shop where they know the locals. I went here to practice drawing and I drew the front counter. The space is lovely for focusing and spend a morning to get creative. I will definitely come back here. My experience was very pleasant.

stopped here for lunch and a quick study sesh around 12:30pm on a Thursday, and I'm so glad i did! It did get slightly busier as the lunch hour went on, which makes sense given how good the food is! The place is small, but it feels cozy and not crowded.I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and the pork banh mi, which were both so good. The Vietnamese coffee is not like the traditional Viet coffees you'd get at a pho place (shoutout Pho75 for the best iced Vietnamese coffee in Philly); Brown Street's is very strong and thick and doesn't really have that sweet condensed milk taste. Still, it was unique, chocolately and smooth, and also really caffeinated!Their pork banh mi is one of the BEST banh mis I've had in general-- the pork is tender and juicy, and it is topped with an ample amount of pickled vegetables. Every part of the sandwich from the crispy bread, fresh toppings, and flavorful, juicy meat was done perfectly. Oh, and the banh mi is pretty decently sized for what you pay. Definitely highly recommend!

The sandwiches hit the spot for a breakfast sandwich. Pretty standard fare on that end of the menu. The mac & cheese with bacon was an interesting option and was pretty tasty. They were toasted well. The the price is pretty reasonable for the food. The coffee & tea we got were fine, they have a pretty fair amount of options for the tea which was nice. Overall, nice place to pop in for breakfast if you live in the neighborhood.

Nice selection of sandwiches, pastries and beverages. Good location and wait time isn't bad.

Stopped by here today after other coffee shops were packed. My eyes lit up realizing i could pick up a pork bahn mi too. I got a peppermint mocha and an egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. My sandwich was so delicious. I also picked up a bahn mi for dinner. Everything was around $18 which was a little expensive but with it, in my opinion. My bahn mi was spicy today but i didn't mind. They had chicken, korean bbq, and i think a veggie option, but the pork is my favorite. I waited about 20 minutes for my food but i was happy this place was packed with in person customers and online orders.

The posted hours to this place are incorrect. I walked in at 4:40 pm to order a banh mi and was told that the closing time is in 20 minutes (i.e., 5:00 pm) but you can't order because the kitchen is closed. So I guess the customer is just supposed to guess when the last order is "allowed" to be placed. Life is too short to play dumb guessing games like this. I've ordered from here for a long time and now you've lost a longtime customer.

Such a great little coffee shop! I love the atmosphere and the coffee and food are delicious. I've had their grilled pork banh mi and their special chicken salad. Both were phenomenal and both I wouldn't hesitate to get again. I'm already bringing and recommending Brown Street to my friends since it's so close to me, but also because you can taste the freshness. The Vietnamese iced coffee was the perfect balance of sweet and espresso. Will be back!

Worker couldn't be bothered to whisk the Matcha enough to properly blend it. She left chunks of Matcha powder in the drink! She obviously could care less to exert herself. And was extremely rude.
