The only real reason to go to Brasil is because of their copious outdoor seating. The back patio is lovely - ample shade and shielded from the busy traffic of Westheimer. Their food and drink is decidedly mediocre. I have never been wowed or impressed by anything from their menu, ever. Yesterday, for example:--Beet and goat cheese salad: 4/5 - no complaints here, it had the right balance of components, although the beets weren't the freshest.--Hawaiian pizza: 2/5 - enough pineapple, but really skimpy on the other components. And no sauce, just cheese :/ they threw handfuls of arugula on top to make it "gourmet," which is a huge pizza pet peeve of mine. (I will die on the hill that throwing wilted greens on top of a pizza is NOT something that should be done in order to raise the price by $3-5)--Margarita carafe: 2/5 taste, 1/5 experience - this was particularly bad, but also on-brand, for Brasil. Their happy hour chalkboard clearly advertised an $18 margarita carafe, on the rocks or frozen. We proceeded to order a carafe on the rocks, which our server argued wasn't a thing, until he turned and read the chalkboard. He then turned to discuss with his manager(?), who informed him, "yes, the carafe is $18 during happy hour, four margaritas for the price of three." Five minutes later, after we (finally) ordered it, they brought to our table a half-filled carafe that was mostly ice. Half-filled not being an exaggeration, it looked like someone had already poured out half of it. We barely got two margaritas out of that thingI've been to Brasil many times over the past 4-5 years. The readily available outdoor seating for large-ish groups is really the only reason we find ourselves returning

I came here recently for a dinner meeting. It was loud for a dinner mtg but not their fault. They should've picked a different spot. Anyhow, the food here is yums! I ordered the special, the Mediterranean Steak bowl. The food presentation was okay, but def could've been better. I thought the basil sprigs could've been cut in half due to how big they were. Also, I am not sure if this is how they intentionally cooked the rice, but I thought it was overcooked. The rice was clumpy as if it were cooked in a pot too small for the amount. I also feel the pickled carrots could've been sliced a bit thinner. The dish was very good. I didn't get to take a pic of my plate, but I took some to work the next day. I also had the house lemonade, which was bomb! Get it! plan on returning for the fig and prosciutto pizza. It looked divine (I sung that word to emphasize the look).

I came here for a quick bite with friends before heading around the corner for ice cream nearby. Brasil has been around for some time and apparently was one of the first specialty coffee shops in Houston all those years ago. I've had them on my list for awhile so it was nice to cross it off the to do list. Getting here was easy but parking looks like it could be challenging. I was lucky enough to grab a spot out front on the street, but had to be careful getting out and crossing the street. This comes with the territory for most spots in this general area. Customer service was great. The staff behind the counter was super friendly and steered me in the right direction on what to get.I wasn't super hungry when I got here so a Struggle Bowl seemed like a good choice to me. I felt like it was going to be this dainty bowl, but it was quite large and very filling. This bowl was filled with some of my favorite ingredients and flavors. It came with rice, chicken, cabbage, serrano peppers, cilantro, chipotle mayo and jalapeno sauce. I'm a big fan of a nice bowl where I can just mix everything together and eat. This was that and delicious. All the flavors went well together and I did not feel guilty eating it whatsoever. They also have a few other bowl selections as well. The menu for lunch, dinner and breakfast had lots of variety and options.Other than parking, this place definitely checked all the boxes for me. Chill, comfortable and delicious food. I will be back.

Really great Vietnamese coffee and vegetarian tacos. I had the morning bowl and it was also delicious. The crispy rice was so good and even though it wasn't very filling it was very healthy the vegetarian tacos specifically the mushroom one was very hearty and with Vietnamese coffee, it was filling enough for a light breakfast, I love that you can order at the front desk before you sit down so that you can just come in. Have a quick breakfast with your friends and then leave whenever you are ready. Good service good vibes good price.

I haven't been to this place in at least 10+ years. I feel like it's a neighborhood staple. People come here to study, get work done, enjoy a coktail before going out, or just an easy family night, etc. I noted that previous reviews had said management forces you to order food immediately upon arrival in order to remain in the dining area. And that you must order food to use the wifi, etc. I waited for my friends a bit, and no one hassled me, so that's good. Me and 2 other Elites came here to fill our bellies before we walked over to Jeni's Ice Cream for an Elite week treat. I was hungry but not starving. The menu gives off comfort food for sure. I feel as though that's what gives it this sort of charm.Service - was straightforward. You order at the bar counter, and get a number. Our server, Cristino, helped me decide what I wanted to order. He was very friendly. They have a water station thats self-serve. I decided not to order any cocktails, but they did have a long menu of options. Food - Cristino shared that he really loves the grilled cheese, as he gets it here for his free meal. It's one of his favs. I love grilled cheese, and any time I see it on a menu, my interest is piqued. So it was an easy decision. It came out super cheesy & nice thick bread, which I love, 5/5 on that. I had already read the reviews that folks were not a fan of the soup. I agree it does taste like canned mariner sauce 2/5, it can be doctored up more. I do like that it was thick to sop up with the grilled cheese. My friends enjoyed their meals, it was just enough food. Parking- street parking only, no lot. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. So because of the nice service, I rounded up to a total of 4/5.

Came to Brasil to have brunch with a few friends on Sunday morning. The parking here is difficult- street parking only. You order your food at the bar and they give you a number. I ordered eggs, Benedict and one pork tamale. I paid my total through an iPad system and didn't get a receipt. The first plate that arrived to my table were three tamales. I assumed that I had a miscommunication and accidentally ordered a set of tamales rather than just one tamale. I started to eat them when my eggs Benedict and my one pork tamale came out. I let the staff know that I had received multiple tamales because I wanted to make sure that whoever was missing them got their food. I think a manager came to validate what happened with the tamales and then he tried to take them from the table. I said to him that I had already eaten some of it, and I would be happy to keep it, and he made it very clear that I did not pay for them. At first, he left them on the table, but then he came back and told me that the chef was mad and that he needed to take the tamales back . I asked if he planned to serve them to someone else and he said no he needs to throw them away because that's the protocol because I didn't pay for them. It was a rude presentation, he was yelling at me to "write my little review and he didn't care." It extremely wasteful to throw away the tamales that I would've been happy to consume. I guess it's a great business model for them to ask for the tip in advance of the service (which I put 20% because I'm a decent human) for THAT service. Lol Not sure why you wouldn't make a customer happy and say our bad- you keep them. I don't plan to come back. Food wasn't good anyway.

I came for lunch, but arrived early enough to order breakfast (before 12). I ordered the tamale breakfast with two eggs, tamale of your choice, and refried black beans. I selected the pork tamale, and while I enjoyed the flavor it was hard on the edges like it has been microwaved. I couldn't even cut the ends with a knife. I asked for eggs over medium, and one was served fried. The side of refried black beans comes in a 2 oz ramekin. The service started off well. The woman at the counter was great, as was the person who brought us our food. A tall man with white hair came to our table around 12:40 to take our plates, to rudely inform us that it was lunch, and get us to leave. The restaurant wasn't even half full of customers. Now I know why. I won't be returning

I've been a patron for 25 years and live in the neighborhood. The servers are all great, I recommend the breakfast tacos and the California Dreamin Hamburger has a kick to it- you need to share it with someone else.Everything is good and the music is specifically picked to suit the Bohemian atmosphere of the Montrose and the cafe. Music especially good at night. Pay close attention to the flowers and the music if you visit.I have never had bad service and we visit alot on Sunday morning for breakfast with friends and other times as well. They do not take orders over the phone for takeout. Weezie on West Main & Woodhead. 03/25/2024I give it 4 1/2 stars. This is what the Montrose used to be 20 years ago.People in the montrose support local, try to do business in the loop and enjoy the unique and unusual that this area has to offer.

Great spot for working, chilling, date night, or friends groups! Full service bar. Events are happening throughout the week. And monthly specials. The food and service were AWESOME! Me and my date for 2 dishes and split it and both the spaghetti bolognese and blackened salmon was so heart and stomach filling. (Sorry about the photos. The food is so good I forgot to take earlier pics) . The down side; no parking lot. Street parking available. I WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING!!!
