"One of my favorite small neighborhood pub when am in the west beacon hill/Charles street area. Walk in the commons, say hi to the ducklings and then walk up here for a few beer. Big no to cheers though. Nice quaint place where there's always a place to sit down. Love the decor and almost has a divey feel to it. Haven't tried the food yet although doesn't look like a place where you'll go to grab a bite."
"Perhaps the best Guinness in Boston. Not just according to me but according to many, including many visiting Irish gents and ladies. A classic Irish pub with a classic Irish pub menu. I have enjoyed many a pint here and many good meals. Today I had the Shepherds pie. It was flavorful but a bit dry. I did like the Irish brown bread that was served along side. Two at our table had the eggs Benedict and weren't very happy with them...too dry and not much flavor. The atmosphere was good- very friendly service. There weren't many people in the restaurant and the server made the rounds several times but we kept having to flag her down. It was kinda like she was making the rounds to make the rounds not check in on anyone. Slightly odd. Overall a great stop if you are looking for a legit Irish bar in Boston."

Visit Restaurant Page"Solid food but I wanted to give a shout-out to a fantastic trivia experience! Trivia can be a toss-up. I've gone to others in the Boston area where the questions were impossible (to the point where not a single person got it right) or the sound was deafeningly loud (to the point where my watch registered a dangerously high decibel level and was basically telling me to GTFO to save my hearing). The trivia set-up at Town Tavern was perfect. Three solid rounds of questions, different categories to keep things exciting, a great trivia master. For people with sensitive ears, the noise volume was perfect. I could hear everyone at my table. It was the most fun I had at trivia to date. Food-wise, you can't go wrong with the bar food. Our table split an order of onion rings (really enjoyed the sauce) and my chicken Caesar did the job of making me feel healthy-ish. Which of course I then undid by basically inhaling a slice of the basque cheesecake on my own. Loved the wedge fries here, I may get just an order of that for myself next time. Prices were pretty affordable. For a group of eight that ordered drinks and desserts, the total came out to about $183 before tax/tip."
"We were staying at the hotel next door and came over to get a late dinner. The place was busy, but there is lots of seating and we were seated within a few minutes. The interior and ambiance were great, with a large bar area and huge table area. The open kitchen is always fun to watch. Our server was attentive and everything came out in good time. We had the fried pickle appetizer, the beet arugula salad, and chicken fingers with fries. All the food was really good. The pickles tasted either homemade or refrigerator pickles. The coating was maybe a little thick, but crispy. These were chips, served with a fantastic spicy remoulade. My picky daughter didn't love them, but I did. If I was hungrier and not dieting, I would have eaten them all!I loved the beet salad. Yellow and red beet chunks surrounded a fresh bed of arugula and greens with walnut sized perfectly fried goat cheese balls and macadamia nuts. It was dressed with a light balsamic vinaigrette. The dressing wasn't strong or oily and I either could have used a little more or maybe I should have used a dash of salt & pepper. The salad was great though and I really enjoyed it. The chicken fingers were 4 big pieces of crispy breast meat tenders with good fries. My daughter loved these. This is a great place in Arlington and if ever in the area again, I would definitely stop in!"
"Swung into the corner pub for a quick bite as I was craving some buffalo wings. This quaint little bar is everything you love about "a corner pub." The service is friendly as were the customers who stuck up conversion . I ordered wings and was surprised . For the record , I don't prefer breaded wings so when they came ( breaded) I gave a little sigh ... I was really impressed upon trying them how crispy and tasty they were. The bleu cheese was perfect and fresh as well. Very good meal highly recommended!!"
"Great place. Parking is a bit tight so perhaps grab a Lyft. Food was superb and the portion sizes were massive. Great value. So many great beers as well. Cozy atmosphere too. Take a chance in this place you will be happy you did."
"It was cool finding this spot. I needed a bar close by and this has everything I need. Lots of t.v.s, good music, pool table, friendly bartenders. What I didn't like is while I was there these young patrons were playing a drinking game that required them to bang on the table. It was disruptive and no one stopped them. It was killing my chill vibe. I went there to relax that totally threw me off. I know that want people to have fun but if it's affecting the other patrons they should ask them to stop. So rowdy"
"This spot id pretty solid with awesome food and pretty stellar service. My friend and I needed burgers and she needed a martini - because she's a mom and that would also drive me to drink.... I needed a burger and avocado. They had a burger with caramelized onions, avocado and bacon - it was freaking delicious and came with TOTS!!! Like any bar - later at night you get the annoying loudmouth or too and the service starts going downhill..."
"Been a long while since I had the pleasure of coming back here to dine on their amazing little roof top. Service was very friendly all around, the food was as good as I remember, and the vibe is just cozy and nice."
"Elm street taproom is a lively bar-restaurant by Davis. They played 2010s hip hop and RnB which seemed to fit the crowd. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations as the menu looked pretty generic. I was proven wrong by their execution...The meatloaf sandwich was nothing short of the most fire meatloaf and freshly made gravy I've had. An amazing combination of flavors with the crispy onion strings, mozzarella, and mushroom. I took half home because it was very filling and it was still great after re-heating. The grilled banana bread dessert definitely hit. I thought the banana would overpower the taste but it was mild and the sweetness of the cream evened it out. I'd bring guests and friends back here."
"My colleague and I tried to find a bite to eat before going to the Celtics vs Heat Game (Round 3 of playoffs). We found McGann's Pub on a side alley. FUN!We both ordered the Fisherman's Combo plate ($13.95) - deep fried shrimp, fish, and calamari. The seafood was placed upon a bed of thick cut fries and accompanied by a dollup of fresh cole slaw. Food was good, given that it was bar food. Service was super friendly! The place was crowded and it oozed with a team spirit! What I liked best was that Budwiser was there at the pub running a special - if you drink a Bud, you get a choice of a Tshirt. Guess who walked out wearing a Bud Celtics tshirt, and got a bottle sleeve cooler and a mardigras Celtics Beads?!"
"Excellent bar to watch the game, enjoy some cocktails, and Catch the Boston vibe if you are visiting from out of town. Nice bar with high top counters and table seating. Fast paced and sports bar crowd. Great beer line. Good food options. Friendly bartenders. Worth a visit and seems to be a hot spot for locals to watch a game."

Immaculate vibes, great for a late evening meal, not great for chatting. We were looking for a late dinner in the financial district and I'm so happy that Dooley's was the closest open kitchen. The friendly community bar was filled with folks of all ages and all were there to listen to live music and have a great time. The food was alright and service impeccably quick for how packed the pub was. It's much too loud for conversation, but absolutely worth a relaxed evening concert.

This is a neighborhood gem that has been revitalized by the current owner.Firstly, the place is spotless, and you can see staff attending to cleanliness regularly- sweeping, mopping and cleaning tables. A+The atmosphere is old school pub/bar/restaurant with various micro environments lol! No seriously you can feel like you're in a bar, at a sidewalk bistro or a relaxing restaurant. All the food we tried was great and generous and well priced. We took guests and everyone cleaned their plates and raved! We especially love the turkey tips and steak tips with mashies and their signature potato "flag" which is like a giant potato chip. Scoop up your potatoes with more potatoes?!?! Yes please. We also like the chicken which can be made buffalo and the dumplings, and the options for sides of basmati rice. They have a way with potatoes, and the french fries are sooooo good and perfect. Also great desserts. We loved the carrot cake and ice cream and can't wait to try the basque cheesecake next time. My friends enjoyed the salmon plate and pulled pork Sammy. My absolute fave thing about this place is their hyper responsible alcohol consumption "policy": they will not serve you more than four drinks, and if you order a third, you have to order food with it. This prevents it from being a barfly hangout and contributes to an awesome, friendly, convivial atmosphere.

Service was good during the rush. The food came out hot and was good. Really enjoyed the steak tips which were very good. Atmosphere was ok but just your normal bar/grill restaurant.

What a pleasant surprise! We stumbled upon this place while hungry and in search of a meal. From the moment we walked in, it was clear we made a great choice. The wings were a amazing! And the service? It was top-notch, making us feel like regulars on our very first visit. Great little place.

Went back here during phase 2, their patio is super nice and one of the only (if not the only in the Allston area). The drinks on tap were limited, which was disappointing, and the service pretty slow (and the menu is a shorter list, due to the present crisis I am assuming), but overall had a very nice evening in a very nice setting with friends.

Ode To The Garlic Steak SandwichSometimes it's good to give a place another try before writing a critical review. Impressions from the first visit were: loud, crowded and the food was not memorable. Almost didn't come back but I'm glad I did. This time it was loud and crowded but it felt like a warm and friendly local pub. At the time of our arrival the place was mobbed and boisterous again but on this with Friday night it made for a fun evening. While it looked like we'd have a long wait, a table was available quickly and we continued to enjoy the bar area. My meal was an incredible surprise. The garlic steak sandwich was phenomenal- literally the best steak sandwich I've ever had. Not shaved steak but succulent and tender steak tips- that were just delicious and melted in my mouth. I don't know if I'll ever be able to order something else at this place. The grilled chicken sandwich also was well received (but not an ATF like the garlic steak sandwich).FHP has a quality selection of draft beers featuring many of the outstanding local micro-brews. I enjoyed a 4-5oz pour sampler for $9 that included some great local IPA's. Service was friendly and prompt an accomplishment given how busy the place was. A little sound deadening would be a welcome addition here, but please don't change that garlic steak sandwich!
Visit Restaurant Page"Cornwall's is a busy English bar. There's mostly college kids at night, but so worth checking out. The pickles are life changing. I had them fried and fresh. Both ways are AMAZING. They're lightly fried to perfection. My husband had the Ruben and said it was really good.Service is friendly and attentive, even though they're busy.Varied draft beer list - something for everyone. Definitely need to stop by when you're in the area."
"The pub was popping Friday night! Came here with my bf for some drinks and bites Friday night and the place was packed! We quickly got seated and ordered some beers. They have a few on tap and more bottled beers. We weren't that hungry and wanted some small appetizers to share. We ordered the chicken wings which came with a couple of sauces and some tater tots. The wings were yummy and the sauces were good. The tater tots came with a side of their specialty house sauce which was nice and tangy. We also ordered a couple of soups. They had clam chowder and french onion. We couldn't decide between both so we ordered one of each to share. The clam chowder was nice and creamy and the French onion was very tasty. We enjoyed our beers and ordered another round. We had a good time hanging out and watching the game on TV."
"Really fresh sushi at an affordable price!!! The inside of the restaurant has a cute ambiance and decor; the outside is a little confusing to me because they still have Christmas lights and decorations up (as of mid February). Although I am pretty festive, this feels like a lazy move. Service felt a little rushed; stopped by every minute to ask for our order, and delivered the bill before we had even decided if we wanted more drinks or dessert. However they did treat us to an appetizer.I tried the steamed gyoza, spicy tuna roll, and the otoro and wagyu nigiri. The spicy tuna roll was large (and filling) and the nigiri were fresh and unique flavor- the wagyu was my favorite!"
"Had really great service. The server and the way it was amazing took care of a room of 30 of us with only one little pad of paper by himself. There was also a really good bartender on the front side. She really knew her stuff. They all scary very big selection of some nice small batch bourbons which is just my choice and she had lots of patience had no problem with the different things I was requesting and she just was right on top of everything, I know it was a Monday night. It was super quiet, but they still were really good in that respect will be going back again."
"Really enjoyed our time here. Friendly atmosphere, great tunes as well. The drinks are not crazy expensive considering it's in the heart of Boston. The bouncer, David, was the life of the party. He went around singing songs in front of everyone. While we didn't have any food, the food looked great coming out. Specifically the pretzel and nachos. When I'm back in Boston, will certainly come back."
"This restaurant is a part of the group that brought you Russell House Tavern and Hourly Oyster. I think it may be the best of the three! We had the chicken wings, beet salad, and slow-roasted half chicken and it was mind blowing. The service was excellent and attentive even on a very busy Saturday night. The beet salad was a standout and the flavor of the slow-roasted chicken was insane. A strong recommend!"
"I was in town working at Harvard and walked to this bar. Ag and I ate there a couple of times and the prices weren't crazy, but the food was amazing and the bar menu options for drinks were very delicious and different. I would highly recommend for a business meeting, date night, as they also had outside seating, and the Weight staff and bartenders were very nice."
"Very good place for dinner in a convenient location right by the New England Aquarium on Milk St. If you're anything like me, it's a real Bostonian privilege to be able to spend a day at the aquarium and conclude the day with dinner downtown. My girlfriend and I came here for dinner on a Sunday around 5PM. Right off the bat, I noticed that the restaurant is clean and elegant, and that the host was very friendly. Very good vibes right off the bat. I asked for a table by an outlet so I could charge my phone, and the host was very accommodating and went to go check if they had one available. We were seated, and I was happy that I could charge my phone while dining. We ordered Shirley Temples as our drink and two entrees for dinner. The Shirleys were very good, had a perfect amount of grenadine, and were aesthetically pleasing. For my entree, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which came with fries. It was very good and I enjoyed having ciabatta bread as the vessel. It was jam packed with bacon, chipotle mayo, and avocado. The fries were also very tasty, with the right amount of salt and a perfect cut (not too thin, not too thick, but juuuuust right!). My girlfriend ordered the Thai salad which she got as a half portion with additional grilled chicken. It was very good, but a bit on the sweeter side with the ingridients and dressing. It also came with noodles which were a good addition. In short, the food was very delicious, but the service was a bit on the slower side despite the restaurant not being crowded at all. We had to wait a while between ordering, getting our food, and getting the bill. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, so I give them five stars. This will now be my go-to place when I visit the wharf. Good job Granary!"
"I stayed at the hotel and had dinner here with my husband after he arrived late one evening. I love the English pub feel and they have beautiful and elegant furniture (like the rest of this gorgeous hotel). We sat at a quiet table in the corner and our server came over and gave us water and some complimentary chips. I chose one of their mocktail drinks called the Blood Orange Diesel, which consisted of blood orange, rosemary, and grapefruit tonic. VERY good. $10. It was actually really delicious - I loved the ginger/orange flavor. Not too sweet like mocktails tend to be. Noms. On Sunday and Monday from 3-9pm they have $2 oysters so my husband ordered 6 of those and loved them. We settled on their fresh salad as a starter with spinach, pears, candied nuts and vanilla dressing. For entrees we split their tavern burger and the steak frittes. Both served with perfectly cooked French fries - I didn't want to stop eating them... steak was delicious and the burger was VERY good. Great ambiance and a huge specialty cocktail menu - a nice place to come for lite bites and drinks before or after an event. We were impressed and would come again - some sticky toffee pudding and other desserts were available as well."
"My party of four came here for dinner and drinks tonight before a show at the Wilbur. All I can say is YUM. My husband had the double burger and I had the hot Nashville chicken. The chicken was hands down one of the best meals I've had in quite some time. It was tender and fall off the bone. It came with mac and cheese and this delicious street corn. I was beyond impressed. The ambiance has a chill and relaxed vibe. It very much reminds me of my favorite pub in Ireland. Brian and our waitress were FANTASTIC. I will keep this place on my MUST VISIT the next time I see a show. I recommend if you are going to eat here before a show that you call for a reservation. They fill up fast and I can't definitely see why!"
"Good SpotTried Casey's last night after someone recommended it. It is a small, casual, clean, neighborhood restaurant and the crowd seemed liked regulars. Although I heard the steak tips were great, we ordered a pizza which was very good. The waiter was polite and friendly and told us they had a DJ there some evenings and once in a while a band will entertain. The prices are fair. I will definitely go back for the steak tips another evening. The tables are all high tops but comfortable. Give Caseys a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. Thanks"
"What every good neighborhood bar should be. No scene, no expectations. If you want to take everything as it comes and come as you are for a casual night of fun -- this is your place. The magic of this place is that everyone will feel like a regular here. The bartenders make sure of that. Order a beer and saddle up to the bar to meet a new friend. Who knows, you may be sharing a pitcher or doing shots with them by the end of the night. Yes they have food, varieties of drinks, etc. Don't overthink it. Just go and have a great time!"
"Great place to stop for a beer and snack. Historic site in a historic part of this historic town. The bar feels like an old-time pub and then the seating area (where we we were) has windows for the perfect people watching scenario. Our server was very nice but just needed a little reminder to make eye contact when she walks by. She probably would have sold more drinks if she were slightly more attentive, but she was still lovely."
"Just went in for a beer. It's a nice Lil bar, the bar tender was nice. I didn't interact with her much. It's a nice bar, has that good ole Boston bar feel."
"Came here with my girlfriend for a quick mid-week dinner and left feeling satisfied and impressed! The eatery is small, and has a dark-cottage like feel. We sat ourselves and were served promptly. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, which was very juicy and jam-packed with minced pieces of fajita vegetables. It was delicious and cheesy. Every ingredient was very fresh and of good quality. It came with a side of cheesy refried beans, which were incredible! They were so good I'd honestly order them on their own. Wow! My girlfriend reported that her Bahn Mi sandwich was good, but a little on the hotter side. If you're a spice lover like me, though, that is a perk! Overall, we had a great dinner at Shay's and will definitely be back!"
"Violin playing when we walked in, very friendly waitstaff, bar tender was sweet and gave great service! Got a Guinness from the tap was delicious, Shepard pie was superb, really flavorful and big enough to share. The bar itself is a typical Boston bar, nostalgic and fun"
"My favorite neighborhood spot! I visit here every month or so and always ask myself why I don't come more often.Don't let the location and dive bar facade fool you, the food here is sooo good and it's a favorite local hang among everyone in the neighborhood. The inside has a dark and cozy pub feel, while their large patio out back is a really fun, almost trendy spot to hang out in during the summer. The patio is also dog friendly which is always enough to get me in the door.I highly recommend the fish and chips, wings, and any of the pizza, but I've yet to be disappointed by anything really. The draft beer list is good, but not huge, and they have a full bar to top it off. The staff is also really nice and service is quick. This place is a must for anyone passing through the neighborhood and it's super close to the Sullivan Square T station. I've also heard rumors that they have live music from time to time. TLDR: it's worth a visit :)"
"Yelpers I feel like we back Baby!!Although a sista did not snap any pics, trust me the food was legit! I originally went to the Waltham location years ago & remember not a welcoming feel. Jenn was our Waitress/Bartender, we arrived on a random Monday evening with my teen niece. The crowd was mix from regular neighborhood folk, 20s to families. I was with 2 other diners and the both got Burgers 1 with BBQ, the other with BBQ + Bacon and I went with a Salmon Fall Salad. Now y'all know I don't do Salads that thing with Hittin w/butternut squash, goat cheese cranberries you know all the healthy ish!Cajun fries were Bangin, Burgers were made to perfection. TBH shout out to the Chef, staff & Jenn who held down on a chill Monday!! #nopics #gettheburger #fish #cocktails"
"A lively bar to hangout and grab a drink! This Irish themed pub has a lot of space for bar seating, and table seating for food options. Great staff that are always around for quick service.Best part is, NO cover charge!"
"Great spot for sushi & other Japanese fare close to Malden Center! We came to try their lunch menu, which they offer every day from noon to 3pm. We each got the sushi lunch special of 2 rolls + miso soup, and it was a good amount of food. For our maki, we selected spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, eel & avocado, and the crazy roll. Fish tasted fresh and rolls were a good size & balanced. The spicy rolls weren't very spicy and also had some tempura crunchies for added texture. For drinks, we got iced green tea and yuzu soda, which were both bottled and served with a glass of ice. The yuzu soda was super refreshing and tasty - I'd get this again. Their menu is pretty large, and I'm excited to return and try more."
"Their website says it's the only place you can drink a cold Sam Adams by a cold Sam Adams and I think that's hilarious. Had to come, of course! It's right off the Commons so it's an easy location.Service was good. It's a seat yourself type of place. My burger was phenomenal but ironically, the Beantown beans were not good in my opinion. They tasted old for lack of a better explanation? I'm from the South so I've had my fair share of baked beans and these were not it. Just don't order them and you'll love the food here- like I said, the burger was fab.Not sure if there's AC - it's not cold but it's not as hot as outside so do with that what you will.Prices are average, maybe even better than average depending on where you are in Boston."
