I got lucky with a bar seat since I was dining solo, but even then the wait was an hour. So so many people dedicated to waiting in line, so I knew this place was a must-tryWhat I ordered:Oysters: They were perfect!! I ordered a variety to try, and none disappointed. The briny ones were my favoriteSweet clams: This was my first time having clams served raw, and they were SO GOOD! The unexpected flavor made them even better than the oystersSea urchin: Loved how they served it in its shell. The presentation was so aestheticI'm definitely coming back! Totally worth the hype :)

Arrived on a weekday night at 6:30. They don't take reservations, so we stood in line. Took about 80 minutes to get seated. This place is completely packed (narrow aisles) and quite loud. Servers are very friendly. The food in descending order:Clam Chowder - this was one of the best chowders I have ever had. Large clams and plentiful. Really good clam flavor and very rich and creamy.Lobster Roll - we got the hot buttered version. Tons of lobster. Simple, but satisfying. Comes with a ton of tasty fries.Oyster Piggybacks - this was very interesting, but in a good way. It was like blueberry cornbread dessert topped with pork and a fried oyster. Honestly, I didn't really know what was going on, but it was a fun dish.Urchin Bucatini - the special - this was very interesting, but in a weird way. The sauce wasn't thick enough to cling to the pasta, so most of the bites tasted like wet pasta, pork, and cheese. The sauce was a thin soup consistency. Tasting that, I got more of the urchin flavor, but it was pretty tart.I have mixed feelings about the dishes we ordered and certainly was not a fan of the wait. If you do decide to come here, I would definitely recommend the chowder and lobster rolls. Plenty of people around us were trying their vast selection of fresh oysters, so that would probably be a good go-to as well.

We waited 45 minutes on a Monday evening! Lobster roll is the way to go!! Large juicy chunks of lobster. However, their fries were disappointing. We also got the clam chowder. It was good and I didn't mind it but it was super liquidy. My husband thought it was strange so if you like creamy clam chowder, this isn't for you and I would skip. We also got their Monday special ... the sphaghettini. It has a very generous portion of lobster but I thought the flavor of the dish was just meh. It wasn't worth the $40+ price tag. I would much rather get the lobster. Also, their jumbo cocktail shrimp is good too! We didn't try their oyster because it's not my thing. It's yummy but I don't think it's worth more than an hour wait. Also, you'll probably be sharing a table if you're a party or 2. We were sitting very closely to a group of guys ... we didn't mind but we could hear their entire conversation lol.

First, be prepared for a line because it's that popular. I stood in line for about a half an hour, but what's so great about that as you get to know the people in line from all over the world and once you get your one seat at the bar you realize how cool this place is.Then you meet Bianca. She's going to take care of you in every possible food way... OK and wine.I had the fried clams which were fantastic and then because of Yelp, I was given a plate of Crudo that was remarkable. I had to share it with my neighbors, what a great gift from a restaurant.I walked away with new friends and Bianca and another great experience at Neptune. That's all you can expect in a restaurant 3000 miles away. Loved it.

I have to say it is really worth the wait and this place is really good. First time the line was way too long so we gave up. So this time we decided to came at an awkward time and it was also raining Can't believe there's a line at 3:30pm lolWe sat at the bar and didn't wait too long for two people Highly highly recommend the lobster rollIt makes you feel like the other lobster rolls you've gotten elsewhere before were all fakeVery generous about lobster meat and love that butter brioche bread

Oysters oysters and more oysters from Washington state Maine Maryland to name a few. We ordered west coast varieties including the velvety Kumamoto! Calamari was super fresh like everything we ordered. The johnnycake with smoked fish and caviar was a great last course with hot honey butter drizzled over the top! Service is quick as the line outside can be long with eager customers who want to experience Neptune! Be prepared to share community tables and meet new friends as the cozy place is ideal for this!!

1000% WORTH THE WAITWe happened to be in Boston a month ago and 4 of us swung by the Neptune Oyster Bar at 7pm on a Saturday .....saw a huge line (probably 20-25 people) and bailed and went somewhere else. (Bad choice it turns out). I was in Boston again 2 weeks later and decided to just wait in the line (I was a single so figured I would have a better chance to be fast). Got there at ~5:30 so a little early, but there were still like 15 people in line waiting to get into the full restaurant. The people infront of me got a lobster roll from somewhere else just to munch on while they were waiting - (I guess that is an OG move, but i wanted to save stomach space)After about 10mins a lady came out and asked each group how many they were and I was the first "1" response. I got in after a total of probably 30-40 mins of waiting. Not that bad. Ate at the bar. Had a half a dozen of amazing oysters, a local beer and easily one of the best swordfish dishes I have ever had (the Saturday night special that night was swordfish puttanesca.). EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMEND

When planning my Boston road trip, Neptune Oyster was the number one restaurant on my list. With a party of six, we arrived around 10:30 AM, and there were only two parties ahead of us. So, we decided to explore a couple of blocks. To our surprise, when we returned just 15 minutes later, the line had almost wrapped around the corner!Neptune Oyster opened at 11 AM on the day we visited. We were just one table away from being seated in the first round, so we ended up waiting an extra hour before getting our table. Once seated, the lively environment made the wait worth it. Our waitress was really friendly and took the time to explain the menu.We ordered six Maine lobster rolls, fried calamari, a five-variety assortment of oysters, and the Spanish octopus. * Maine Lobster Roll: The lobster was huge--I didn't expect such a generous portion! While the lobster was fresh, it could've used a bit more mayo and seasoning. The bread was soft, but I was hoping for it to be toasted or buttered, which would have elevated the flavor. * Fried Calamari: Perfectly fried and a great dish to share, thanks to the generous portion. It was crispy and delicious. * Oysters: The true standout of the meal! The assortment of West Coast and East Coast oysters was incredibly fresh, and I loved comparing the variety. The quality was top-notch. I would definitely come back to Neptune Oyster just for the oysters again--they're immaculate. * Spanish Octopus: Cooked to perfection and served with cauliflower. It was tender and melt-in-your-mouth good. All in all, Neptune Oyster lived up to the hype with its fresh seafood and vibrant atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Boston.
