This was the worst meal I've had all year, I had pasta with tomatoes and garlic olive oil. Literally no flavor and it was drowning in oil. Like I had to shake each noodle. No amount of parm could save the flavor. My boyfriend ordered carbonara which was swimming in some thin, weird, cheesy sauce that looked canned. Nothing like carbonara. So gross. I don't get the hype. We were visiting from out of town and it was highly rated. I have a gluten allergy and was so excited, but I can make pasta 100x better at home. I don't understand the popularity at all!The only positives.. our server was very nice. My boyfriend said the bread was amazing. I did not get gluten sick.

La Famiglia Giorgio does not take reservations. It is first come-first serve. We arrived around 6:30 and waited around 10-15 mins for our table to get ready. We were seated upstairs in a relatively small yet spacious room. If you have balance issues, I would request to sit downstairs as the upstairs is a steep climb. The meal comes with bread which can be dipped in a delicious oil and herb mixture. I read a review where someone thought the bread was stale. I would also agree with that description as the bread we were served was also pretty hard. I ordered the eggplant sauce and picked tortellini as my pasta. The sauce was delicious and packed full of flavor. The eggplant was perfectly breaded and sliced in thin enough pieces where it didn't overwhelm the dish. My husband ordered Little Al's favorite. He enjoyed the overall flavor but felt it was a little more cheesy than he would have liked. Overall, he wished he had picked a marinara sauce. The overall presentation of the food was poor. It seemed as if the food was just slapped on and nearly overflowed the plate. The overall portion sizes are massive. If you go, likely you will be leaving with leftovers. We did eat our leftover a few days later and thought the flavor was still pretty good. Overall, not a terrible meal but we wouldn't go back if given the choice.

My knowledge of the North End isn't worth squat, so I asked a true Bostonian what restaurant he recommended for unpicky tourists like Jamie W and me. He said pretty much any place is really good. He may be right because we completely lucked out with this popular spot run by the Giorgio family. They've obviously figured it out since they've been in the same Salem Street brownstone for almost three decades. There was an hour wait for a table, so we figured we'd wait in an even more ridiculous line at Mike's Pastry to stock up on after-dinner cannolis. Our timing proved fortuitous because our table was ready just as the cannolis got packed in twine. We could tell this was the kind of Mamma Mia-style place where portions were elephantine and pasta sauces, meatballs, and sausages tasted like they came directly from her kitchen. We toyed with starting healthy with salads, but who were we kidding? We were facing a basket overflowing with rustic Italian bread (photo: https://yelp.to/YhuhZuawGZ) accompanied by a plate covered in a pool of olive oil saturated with melted butter, minced garlic, and peperoncini (photo: https://yelp.to/MJMf6Yjmui). Jamie was in the mood for pure comfort and ordered a $6.99 crock of Pasta Fagioli, a housemade tomato-based soup.It was earthy hearty with pancetta, cannellini beans, and pasta (photo: https://yelp.to/sOdQLrKq8_). I went for the $12.99 Stuffed Mushrooms, a tasty quartet of caps stuffed with their signature mushroom breadcrumb stuffing (photo: https://yelp.to/9elIc2QCwk). Our gigantic pasta plates came next. They offer 21 different sauces, so they were serious about their pasta. It's unusual to see puttanesca on a menu, so Jamie seized the opportunity. He ordered the $26.99 Linguini in Puttanesca Sauce with one of the biggest Meatballs I'd ever seen (photo: https://yelp.to/rBoNyvlPUf). The puttanesca was a spicy marinara sauce with sautéed anchovies, garlic, olive oil, capers, onions and black olives. The meatball had a nice consistency that was almost melty. I went for the $26.99 Penne in Bolognese Sauce with a whole Italian Sausage (photo: https://yelp.to/Ags4GAVG_Y).The Bolognese was a hearty, meaty sauce made with ground beef, pork, and veal simmered for hours in a combination of red wine and cream and combined with San Marzano tomatoes. Really delicious and it took the heft of the penne to absorb the sauce. We had massive amounts of leftovers to take back to the hotel. I should mention the $2.99 Diet Cokes were also gigantic, 32-oz fountain drinks (photo: https://yelp.to/MKWITB1zo1). Whew, we was stuffed.FOOD - 5 stars...big plates of Italian loveAMBIANCE - 4 stars...a bit squeezed at our table but not too loudSERVICE - 4.5 stars...our server was great, the front staff not so muchTOTAL - 5 stars...now I know a North End restaurant I can recommend unequivocallyRELATED - Exploring Boston? Very solid food ata great price. Service is very friendly. The vibe is very cozy here and makes you forget you are on the busy streets of the north end. I hade the veal parm and added gnocchi. Veal was very tasty and cooked well. The gnocchi was pillowy soft and the read sauce was full of flavor. I highly recommend this place, especially if you are a tourist.

Was recommended by a friend that this was one of the best in the North End, but I think this may be one of the worst restaurants I've tried in Boston. The best word to describe the food is mediocre. We ordered the sangria, calamari, frutti di mare with fra diavolo sauce, and veal parmigiana. We ate only a few bites of the food and packed the rest to go. The best thing was the sangria. The portions here are big, but it's lacking in flavor. If you want to try this place, def make a reservation as it gets packed. They will only seat you also once your entire party arrives. The service was good.

Nestled off Salem Street in Boston's historic North End, La Famiglia Giorgio's (LFG) is more than just a dining spot--it's a cherished tradition for many, including my own family. This charming Italian eatery has been our go-to for years, consistently delivering a delightful experience that keeps us coming back.During our recent visit, I was once again reminded of why LFG holds such a special place in our hearts. Accompanied by my wife and daughter, who both follow a gluten-free diet, I was pleased to find an array of gluten-free options on the menu, including pasta. This accommodation is not only appreciated but also seamlessly executed. Our server's expertise and attentiveness ensured that our dietary needs were met without compromising on taste or variety. As always, the service was impeccable--prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. This level of consistency in service is one of LFG's hallmarks, contributing to the overall warmth and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. When it comes to the food, LFG never disappoints. The portions are as generous as they are delicious, making each meal a satisfying experience. I opted for the lasagna, which was a hearty, flavorful masterpiece. My wife and daughter chose the Chicken and Broccoli, topped with a luscious dollop of ricotta cheese. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, highlighting the fresh ingredients and traditional Italian flavors that LFG is known for. It's worth noting that La Famiglia Giorgio's is always bustling with patrons, a testament to its popularity and excellence. To avoid long waits, I highly recommend making a reservation. The lively atmosphere adds to the charm, making each visit feel like a special occasion. In conclusion, La Famiglia Giorgio's is a must-visit destination when exploring the North End of Boston. Whether you're a longtime patron or a first-time visitor, you can expect a memorable dining experience filled with delicious food, outstanding service, and a welcoming ambiance. Every trip to LFG is a reminder that some traditions are worth keeping, and this one certainly is. You won't regret making the trip to this beloved North End establishment!

You better be hungry. The portions are huge. The restaurant is very popular and always has a line or a wait. If you can make reservations, then be sure to do that. The restaurant has an old-world charm. We had to wait around 30 minutes to get in, and it was worth the wait. We had a wonderful time and they staff is very friendly. Our party of four and we ordered the following. Stuffed mushrooms, warm goat cheese dip, San Antonio pasta, rigatoni and meatballs, lasagna, and seafood pasta. Just check out the pictures.

Absolutely loved my stop here. Our waiter Alejandro (Alex) was amazing, very friendly and full of recommendations, he didn't make us feel rushed at all and made the experience very enjoyable. We sat in the upper level and it was very quaint, the exposed brick was nice to see. The food itself is amazing, extremely filling and rich. The portions are HUGE, we barely made a dent in our plates and took the rest to go for some yummy leftovers! Would love to come back here!
