"I loved this place so much, I decided to come back again the next week! This time, I decided to try their omakase. It was delicious and it was different from other omakases I have tried. They served all of the sashimi in one boat rather than course after another course. Nonetheless, it was still good and worth it for the price, especially if you like raw fish. The foie gras was my favorite, as well as the otoro. The service here is amazing, every time. Definitely give Nagomi Izakaya a try if you're in the area and have not yet tried!"
"This is a new cocktail bar with amazing ambience. They play classic vinyl records while you enjoy your cocktail. I recommend sitting at the high top to watch your cocktails being made and enjoy the vibes. I really enjoyed the Off Minor (gin, midori, yuzu, absinthe). They also have a selection of highballs. Downstairs, they have a sushi bar where you can be seated in front of the chefs making your sushi. Great place! Will definitely be back again!"

"Solid sushi in a homey, no-frills atmosphere. I haven't had sushi in a while so the first bite was manna from the gods. Just a note that on weekends, they only serve sushi (so nothing like tempura or katsu-based rice dishes) which was fine with us. Aside from some sushi/sashimi combos, the menu also featured a good number of rolls. I ordered the sashimi combo, with salad, soup, and rice. The salad was all right (your standard iceberg lettuce with lots of carrot and purple cabbage) and the soup was a touch too salty, but I was here for the fish anyway. Cuts were thick and generous, maybe a little unevenly cut in some places. Lots of salmon pieces, which I didn't mind at all, as a salmon lover. The unagi nigiri that I ordered as an add-on was exceptional (tender, with nice crisp edges) - I'll have to try their unagi rice bowl next time. The presentation for all our dishes showed consideration. Our waitress was kind and sweet and apologized profusely when the food took a while to come out. I think she was the only one working that night, so just something to bear in mind."
"Cute little noodle place that offers some delicious dishes. Service was quick and the servers were so nice and attentive. The place was minimal and very clean.I really enjoyed my sweet pork don and my friends were elated over their delicious noodle dishes! My dish was filling and really affordable. Excited to try more of their items next time."
"So, it's Lent season. Which means I get sushi on fridays for the next few weeks and of course my husband says "is there a place we can go to that has chinese and sushi?" enter my search for both. I am writing this realizing this was ordered for Thursday, but today is friday, so as I write this I am craving sushi because yes, it's lent. (don't judge me)Sei Bar always pops up on my delivery/pick up searches and I really don't have an answer for you why I have avoided it so much, I guess I have my favorites and I leave it at that. Well that changed last night. I decided why not give it a try, order for pick up and go from there. We got two hand rolls, two maki rolls, crab rangoons and a pork fried rice. Now I'm particular about my rice (see my other reviews lol) and when my husband requested pork fried rice i immediately became sour because I haven't had a pork fried rice I absolutely loved or cared for or liked or enjoyed. I'm also VERY particular about my fried rice so I really didn't have much expectation. And thank goodness I was proven wrong by this restaurant. The sushi was good - I'd come back again for that. But I would come back sooner for that darn pork fried rice! What made it so good was the aroma, the char siu pork (sp?) was VERY flavorful and wasn't that fatty, the rice morsels were still in tact. It was just good quality fried rice and I was so happy about that! It was really good! I am excited to go back and try other menu items and maybe eat inside next time!"
"This review is based off my order through the Chow Bus food app. I was so surprised how good this place was lol I'm glad I gave it a try and not base it off the reviews. Ordered around 830pm and got it around 920pm. The food was packaged good and the quality was really good. I ordered the Fire Red maki, Philly maki, and sashimi deluxe. The portion amount they give is so much. Comes with miso soup and rice. The sashimi tasted fresh I give it 8/10. The fire red maki was amazing! Highly recommend getting that!Overall, I highly recommend getting Fins for a quick sushi bite !"
"3 for the Wellesley location, the other two locations may very well be mind-glowingly good. But the food/service here was not up to par, especially for the prices. Of the dishes we ordered, only two or three were vaguely memorable. Yelp, you led me wrong with this one. *shakes fist at the sky*Food: The menu is split between Thai and Japanese. We ordered the shrimp shumai as an appetizer, which was one of the better things we ordered: thin wrapper, flavorful filling. The Thai entrees were where things fell apart. I got the hot ginger dish with tofu, with a medley of veggies. Taste was all right and the tofu amount was generous but nothing stood out to me with this dish. It certainly didn't contain anything that justified the $17 price tag (not counting the side of rice, which you have to order separately, see rant below). Also tried the unagi nigiri and the fatty salmon belly, both were not bad. Everything else, including the royal broccoli, was similarly mid and had the same "brown sauce" flavor. Portions were criminally small for the price. I had to eat a snack at home afterwards (and I don't have the largest appetite in the world).Indulge me with a mini-rant. Laughing Monk charges extra for a side of rice for all the entrees that normally come with rice. Ask any self-respecting Asian person if they will eat a stir fry or anything sauce-y without rice. I don't like it when restaurants do this sort of nickel and diming. Just make the entree more expensive to build in the cost of rice. Don't even get me started on the $2 side of wasabi and pickled ginger. Their online menu, which featured a number of sushi options that made us want to go (a chirashi bowl, an Uni don) is takeout only, with no mention of it being such. We didn't find that out until we got to the restaurant. Prices on the online menu aren't updated. All in all - pretty misleading. Service: Not particularly warm or friendly. We came on a busy Saturday night, which probably explains it. Parking: I have a soft spot for downtown Wellesley because parking is super easy and abundant. They even put little green hoods over the parking meters reading "Compliments of Wellesley." How nice is that? We found a spot right behind the restaurant. Overall, I don't think I'll be back. Eating out right now is too expensive to justify mediocre food/service."
"Initially I had gotten Momosan Morimoto confused with the sushi restaurant "Morimoto", but I learned that Momosan Morimoto offers ramen, nonetheless, this spot inside TD Garden's Hub Hall did not disappoint! We started off with the signature sticky ribs. They had great flavor. One thing I would have liked was if the ribs had arrived hotter, as they were already warm-ish cold when it was served to our table.I got the spicy tan-tan ramen and I loved it. It was delicious! The flavors for it meshed very well. The spicy dandan brothless ramen was also amazing. I would definitely come again !"
"Normally I don't like to do too much for my birthday, but my sweet Christopher is AMAZING and the BESTEST! He took me here for an early birthday dinner & Oishii's is always a great time. Tonight, we got the hamachi appetizer & salmon on fire, 3 maki rolls (toro truffle, for the love of salmon, & crunch mango), two entrees (chilean sea bass & squid ink noodles), & of course, had to end our meal with the lovely coconut sphere (my favorite!). We were not the biggest fan of asparagus or cucumber rolls last time we were here so we decided to skip out on those rolls. Everything tasted absolutely delicious per usual & cannot recommend Oishii's enough for sushi! Their menu is a bit on the pricey side BUT very generous portions and not skimpy like other high end restaurants. Dark ambiance here. Don't be shy to use flash for pictures hahaha. The toro truffle is a MUST, as well as the coconut sphere. 10/10 ;)"
"When in the east coast Aji Sushi Abt Newton , BostonGotta have some good uni and salmon roe. Chunks of goodies at a fairly reasonable price. Pretty fresh tooCraved sushi and got some take out with friends. It took just 15mins from calling to pickup. Got the Sushi Deluxe for $20, comes with a miso soup and salad. Also ordered uni, tobiko, and salmon roe as extras. I liked the deluxe set that came with a California roll + salmon, Hamachi, tuna, unagi (eel), shrimp. You can see they're quite generous with their portions too@midwestmunching for more on Instagram"
"Um, no...just no. This is not what one should ever consider good ramen, or even mediocre to be honest. This broth might as have been store bought chicken broth. Now that I think about it, they are located directly inside a supermarket food court. Is it possible that they.....naaaaah! That's too bad, as Kakkoii is a convenient 5 minute ride from me and the folks that run this are quite pleasant. It's with sad hearts I come before you today to say "Yelp nation, you have failed me". That's ok, it can't always be rainbows and unicorns!"
"Great sushi spot in Waltham. Service is super friendly. The sushi was very good. There are a number of specialty rolls to pick from. They have a very good variety of options. The fish was fresh and definitely delicious. The tuna was especially good, almost melting in my mouth. I was surprised at how good it was. Overall, it's worth a visit. I don't know many great sushi places in Waltham but this one is now on my list for favorites in Waltham."

Grabbed drinks and bites at the bar while we waited for a table to grab sushi. Cocktails were creative and the chicken karage was yum. Would skip the mushroom dumplings, everyone in our group found it to be a bit off. Sushi was fresh and delicious, but overpriced.Great ambiance, music anattentive and friendly staff.

This is hands down the best Japanese restaurant in all of Boston. My girlfriend and I went tonight on our drive back into town and we both have a new favorite overall restaurant. The service was excellent, the server (likely an owner) was extremely nice and utterly adorable. The sushi chef (also probably an owner) was also extremely nice. Every single item we got was above the bar, most of them by a long way. The teriyaki sauce was amazing, and clearly homemade, the katsu sauce was to die for, and the udon was very good with plenty of meat and each different item in the udon was excellent. Finally, as someone who has never really met sushi they liked before, the sweet potato roll was perfect. I understand now why sushi is supposed to be eaten exactly as is, because the balance of everything is perfect. We will absolutely be returning, as well as sharing this place with our friends!

I've never had mazesoba before- I am a big fan! This new place was surprisingly not as busy as the other noodle restaurant next door during lunch hours, as we were immediately seated. The interior is small but lovely- bright and cozy and the plates were beautiful. I ordered the tan tan mazesoba and my friend ordered the shoyu. We were not sure how to eat it but luckily there were instructions on the menu. The meal was flavorful, not too heavy, and surprisingly more than I could finish in one sitting. The server was also kind in suggesting us to mix the leftover sauce in rice that they provide. Definitely a place worth to stop by for lunch or dinner.

Great food, I usually order from Everett and the only thing I ABSOLUTELY think is unprofessional is that they will ask you for a tip before you have a chance to give one. One time I ordered online and didn't realize I could tip on there, well he got to my place and I didn't have any cash on me and he stood there and asked where his tip was... super rude but he clearly didn't care. He looked like he was ready to fight Here's a tip:You have long time customers that also share how great the food is with friends and family , but sei bar u must train your delivery men.DONT ASK FOR A TIP, it's not professional. Medford - location is nice and a good place to sit in and eat with a date, family or kids...Oh yea, I still order from there but I only do pick up now. As a matter of fact , I'm about to get some sushi from there today. Wakefield is okay - and portions seem smaller but food is stilllll good

Went twice and loved it the first time when we just had sushi and the scallion pancake, had a way worse experience the second time when we tried sushi and one of their stir fries. The servers were hustling everywhere and moving fast when we saw them but I could tell other tables were getting antsy and feeling like they weren't being served. We felt that a little too.The custom cocktails can be good but the beers were a huge ripoff. There was no draft beer, which is fine, but when I asked which beers were on tap they pointed to one of them on the menu so I ordered it and when they brought it out it was a regular sized bottle for not that cheap. I would suggest getting a soda or just water. The stir fry was pretty disappointing, which bummed me out a little as we really liked the place before that and once I had the stir fry I realized they weren't doing anything that special outside of some of the sushi rolls.

The Tom Yum Koong (spicy shrimp soup) was very good. Great proportion of coconut milk. We got attracted by the Boston location and came to this location instead when near the area. There aren't that many items in the menu compared to the Boston location. However, the food is still very good and worth a visit. Both the Thai dishes and the Japanese dishes are good. Would recommend this place. Service is fine.

I was really impressed with the food here, the sushi rice was the best I've ever tasted and I've eaten a lot of Japanese food. We had roasted brussel sprouts in soy sauce with parmesan cheese, an odd combination that works, soft shell crab bao buns, salmon poke bowl, spicy yellowtail roll --very spicy, and shrimp tempura roll with cucumber and avocado. Everything was fresh and delicious. They also serve ramen and have cocktails. Would definitely return if in the area.

"I love this restaurant and bar. One of my favorite places to watch football and have a good strong drink. And did I mention they have a jukebox? With Covid I have been ordering takeout. It has lost some of it's quality and my stomach has taken a beating. But will be back at the bar as soon as it reopens. The take out is super fast if you need something quick. Big portions as well."
"Fantastic first time experience at The Q. We made reservations on Opentable and arrived a few minutes early. The place was hopping but we were able to be seated within 10 minutes. We had a party of 5 and got a nice corner booth at the front of the restaurant. The service was excellent with food coming to the table within minutes and our water glasses topped off every few minutes. The food was outstanding. We had kimchi, a paradise sushi roll and beef tongue for appetizers. For entrees we had more sushi, beef noodle soup, general guas chicken, kung pao chicken, and a mala soup. Hands down the best dining experience we had in Boston."
"Super yummy lunch place! I tried the Kappo sushi burrito and it hit the spot :) I loved the different fillings--great flavor and texture, and I felt like the ratio of fresh vegetables to fish was good. I also appreciated how there wasn't too much rice, which sometimes detracts from sushi burritos at other places that use it as filler. Poké places often have sushi burritos that taste more like poké--this one tasted closer to a maki roll with extra veggies and crab salad packed in.I think it was a good amount of food for me--I was quite full after finishing, but I could imagine other people with bigger appetites being not quite full with just a sushi burrito. There are a number of other options on the menu that look great, though!Overall though, it was super delicious, and I'm definitely going to try to come again! The outdoor seating was great for social distancing and was nice during the midday, especially now that it's springtime."
"Oh Douzō... you were doing so well, and I was about to sing your praises! Then I made a "mistake"... I ordered the Spicy Yellowtail. That's when the experience took a nose-dive off a cliff. I initially ordered the Caterpillar Roll & Crunchy Roll. The Crunchy, while different than what I usually get, was fantastic. Crunchy and soft textures, and an interplay of savory, salty, and sweet flavors. The fireworks show that well-executed dishes should be. The cuts of tuna & salmon up top were very generous, so even though there wasn't fish inside, it worked for me. The cucumber added freshness, and the tempura and fried onion added crunch. Rounding it out, the mango sauce was not at all overpowering, lending a gentle sweetness. Meanwhile the roe added a pleasant, subtle salinity. The Caterpillar was a phenomenal iteration of one of my favorites: the eel/avocado/cucumber roll. While not as intricate and complex as the Crunchy, it still worked well. There was a fair amount of eel, which combined with the avocado and eel sauce amplified the soft, sweet, and savory flavors. The cucumber and spicy mayo, meanwhile, were subtle and not at all overpowering. The rice, up to this point, was high quality. Then, I made my "mistake." I was hungry for more and ordered the Spicy Yellowtail. Things went downhill a little, then a lot. First, the rice was mixed with scallions. Now, while I don't like scallions, I don't deduct points just because of personal preference. Where this roll went wrong is the sheer amount of tempura combined with a tiny piece of fish. Unlike the Crunchy, the fish was fully lost within. I brought this up to my server who offered to change it to one that is how they usually make it. Ok, great! I went for it. I ended up regretting my choice, especially since I didn't want to send something back a second time. What I was served reminded me of gas station sushi. The whole roll was a little limp and didn't look super-appetizing. Though, it's the taste where it really flopped. The yellowtail here was the kind that was pre-made: chopped, mixed with too much mayo, and stored in the fridge. Thus, a limp roll with a cold, bland, mayo-heavy filling, and nothing else. Especially after the Caterpillar and Crunchy, it left a bad taste in the mouth - pun very much intended. Finally, before I wrap it up (pun not intended this time), I have a few more points to share. Don't worry, these are positive!1. The service was excellent. It was speedy, knowledgeable, and attentive.2. The vibe is modern and upscale. So much so I questioned if I was underdressed, even though my daily attire is business casual.3. Their menu is fantastic in that there are pictures for most everything. Even with items I am familiar with, it was great to be able to visualize what I would be ordering before ordering it. It is due to their exciting menu that I want to give Douzō a second chance. However, one thing's for sure, I will be staying far away from the Spicy Yellowtail (or regular yellowtail, for that matter)."
"Positively the worst takeout order I have ever had in my life! I ordered the tofu pad thai but it bore no resemblance whatsoever to this menu description. Just some noodles with lots and lots of onions. Absolutely horrible."
"We had an amazing dinner at Fuji at Ink Block. We dined Sunday night. We had a nice bench table at the end. Our server was brand new and organized our meal beautifully. Our nigiri's were great. We loved the tempura soft shell crab roll. It was quite a meal. They do a bumping take out service."
"My sister highly recommended eating the ramen here on my short trip to Boston, so we tried it out, securing a table for 2 relatively immediately on a busy Sunday evening. You order at a counter then take a seat, and you'll be alerted by an electric gadget to grab your food at the counter when it's ready. The staff member at the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable about accommodating to dietary restrictions and allergies. Each of the ramens can be ordered Standard or Signature (additional $1 for a smoked ramen). We tried the standard ginger curry (somewhat spicy) and the yuzu sesame (option to add spice which was mildly spicy). I am amazed that everything is plant-based as some of the plant protein (yuba tofu skin) tasted very close to beef. I loved the yuzu sesame broth which was not too salty and had a bit of subtle tartness. Would definitely get it again! The curry broth meanwhile was very rich and flavorful with spice. I'm so glad we decided to stop by!"
"Don't be fooled by the staid interior and lack of in-person diners in this local Asian establishment. This restaurant, serving mostly Szechuan Chinese dishes, is a real treat in the Belmont Center district.Walking in, you're greeted by ... 2 large screens. Yes! There are not many people at the register. The screens let you choose a variety of dishes, from hot noodle soups to more traditional entrees to cold dishes. It's a bit disorienting not to have more human presence, but I guess that's just the way they run things. The dishes themselves were often top notch. The homemade pork and chive dumplings were often a bit too tough on the skins, but you could tell that they were homemade. The hot and sour beef noodle soup with glass noodle was as advertised a nice mix of hot and sour; they noodle itself was chewy, not too mushy soft, and not too tough as to render it inedible. The peanuts were crispy and really nice. The wood ear added some nice textures, and the soup itself was flavorful. I would have limited the amount of oil in the soup. The XLB (Xiao Long Bao) was really good - might be the best in the Boston area (not a town known for its XLB)! The skins were relatively thin and the soup inside really hot. Too bad there weren't ginger strips to accompanying the useful vinegary sauce. The Hand-pulled Biang biang noodle with spicy cumin lamb was quite good as well. The dish could have been presented with a bit more finesse; the lamb bits were all mixed in with the noodle, and the noodle itself was a bit thick. But the flavoring was excellent and many of the lamb pieces were rendered tenderly. The baby bok choy with tofu skin was definitely stir-fried in a lot of oil! They were really yummy, but I felt they got that nice crispy veggie effect by using a lot of oil. This environs presents something of a conundrum ... who's the market? It looks way too casual for the prices to be located in the low 10s / high 10s range (dishes were served entirely in plastic containers). But the quality of food is on par (and in some cases better) than many other Chinese restaurants in the area. But those restaurants are usually conceived of as carpeted dine-in / service places. If indeed the establishment is looking to create a casual dining experience in the Belmont area, then maybe it should remove some of the more usual shared entree type dishes on the menu (e.g. hot oil spicy fish, the famous Szechuan dish). But again, who are the expected patrons here? If they do want to have a sit-down place, make the chairs somewhat nicer (and maybe brighten up the place).Service was really quick.Looking forward to seeing this place do well!"
"North End is a really small shop that doesn't stand out much in appearance but really delivers in food quality and service. LOBSTER ROLLI tried 3 of Boston's top ranked lobster rolls and North End's ended up being my favorite. I was a bit surprised that this was my favorite since I favor hot lobster. The interesting thing was that the 3 rolls I tried varied in both size and price quite drastically. I'd describe North End's lobster roll as medium sized. At $18, North End's lobster roll was easily the best value of the lobster rolls I saw in town. The lobster roll here has great balance. The cold lobster tastes great and the toasted bread works perfectly together. I loved the structure of the roll. It all held together till my last bite. Visually, it wasn't the greatest. Since all food is take out here, the rolls are just wrapped up and handed to you in a bag. SERVICEFriendly, welcoming people."
"Was in the Boston area recently and ordered Sushi Today via DoorDash. The food arrived approximately 45 minutes after ordering. The sushi was nicely packed and the bag was secured by staples. It included a few pairs of wooden chopsticks and soy sauce packets. Unfortunately, no napkins though. Ordered their Spicy salmon maki, spicy tuna maki, and california maki "maki special" for about $15.50. This was a good value for three different maki's consisting of about 24 pieces. Also, ordered a HakoTuna signature maki which contained spicy tuna, tempura flakes, tuna, avocado, and spicy mayo. This was made without seaweed so it was more of a sushi sandwich. See my picture. It wasn't bad but I expected the tuna to be spicy. We also ordered another California maki. The crab was just sticks of fake crab meat. I personally prefer the California rolls made with chopped up imitation crab mixed with mayo. A Togo menu was also included in the bag."
"We arrived after 6:00 pm on New Year's Eve. Many places were closed, and Boston Commons was already crowded for the festivities. We popped in for a quick meal. We had a couple of sushi rolls, poke, and shrimp tempura ala carte. There were a lot of take out customers, some regulars were greeted by name. After a while our order was brought. The food was OK. I was disappointed that there was no tempura sauce for my tempura."
"Another great place to escape from the work grind and grab some good eatin' on Moody if you're craving sushi and/or Korean. The front of the restaurant was just a plane Jane looking regular restaurant but as soon as you step in, it was pretty nice, roomy, and clean. My coworker had the beef bimpibap lunch special and I had the spicy maki lunch special. The sushi here was great--sushi rice was very moist and the spicy tuna was on point. No complaints. The bimbibap came out sizzzzzzling which made the meal so inviting. With the egg on top as well. My sushi maki just had no trade value. It was a tootsie roll going against the butterfinger bar on Halloween. I'll have to try the bimbibap next time! Restaurant had plenty of space to host their guest. Of course on Moody, bring your parallel parking chops with you or park in the city parking lots off streets.Cheers"
"Ebi is the best. Great quality and prices! I love their toro and it's very reasonably priced ($7.50 mkt). We've been coming more frequently this year after having a lovely time in March for a birthday dinner. The service is always friendly and they have been super accommodating of any allergies/special requests. It's usually busy on Friday and Saturday nights so they have a wait list at the door. It's usually not too bad of a wait but they do want you to stay close by. Highly recommend!!"
"*This review is regarding a delivery order This New York transplants search for decent Chinese food continues! I don't know why I moved to Massachusetts if I was going to be so picky about the food, but alas...I went looking Sweet and Sour chicken up to my NY standards and China Sky did not disappoint. ~Food~Full disclosure --- I stick to the same three things when I get Chinese: 1-Sweet and sour chicken, 2-Sesame chicken 3-Egg rolls. This review will be for sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls. (check out my review on Peppercorn house for amazing sesame chicken) They are good...not great but good. Someone less picky than me would likely give them five stars but I'm giving four because I've had better (both in NY and MA). What I really like though, is that they are consistency. While it isn't the best Chinese food I've ever had, I can trust that its always going to taste like I expect it to. There are other Chinese spots I enjoy more but every now and then they have a very off night. China Sky always seems to be on their A game! ~Price~I would say there are right in the middle price range of what one would expect from Chinese takeout in the area. They might even be a little cheaper."
"My friend and I came here for dinner on a Sunday night around 6:15pm. It wasn't too busy and we had no issue grabbing a table. We shared the sushi/sashimi combo, which came with 8 pieces of sashimi and 8 pieces of sushi. Everything was fresh and tasted good. Not a life-changing meal, but definitely a solid sushi spot!"
"This was my first visit to All Seasons Table. I liked the space, and even though it is supposed to be modern Asian, it could have been any restaurant as there were not many inflections of Asian-inspired decor. The place feels clean and modern. The front end was nice. The menu for Columbus Day was dinner only at 1:00 in the afternoon. That sort of dinged my impression at first, but there were a lot of choices, as we were presented with four menus. We selected a shrimp tempura sushi and spicy edamame for the appetizer. The sushi was spot on, actually better than many places I've been to over the years. The spicy edamame was tasty but lacked a little bit of salt though it did have a nice spice, just right. For our dishes we had Pad Thai and I got the pineapple walnut shrimp. It was presented with the tail sticking up and looked adorable. It was a little odd that the pineapple in the center was not part of the actual sauce and was cold. It was basically the traditional shrimp and walnut dish that you would get in many restaurants just with pineapple in the center. I decided to squeeze a little bit of lime on it and be honest with you. I highly recommend that to the chef to possibly consider, it made so much difference for just one little teeny wedge of lime squeezed on top at the finish.I used the restroom which was not as stylish as the restaurant, it was straight-up utilitarian, it almost felt like you were in a restroom for a completely other type of business, just seemed out of place. All in all, I would definitely return to this establishment as the food was above average across the board."
"Honestly what you'd expect given the previous reviews and the fact that this is in a random hotel along Memorial Drive. The service was okay at best - the hostess was very inattentive and the servers weren't the most attentive. Our sushi roll and soups came out in a reasonable time which was nice. The ambiance felt relatively clean, however I will say thatrhe floor was sticky in the lobby of the hotel which you need to cross to get to the bathroom. Very strange. The chef was entertaining enough and did their best I think, but the show wasn't inspiring or anything. They had a normal hibachi show with shooting food in people's mouth and the onion fire which was overall not bad to see. The food that came out at the end wasn't spectacular either, just mediocre in flavor and portion. Overall, I went in with relatively low expectations and this place met them. Not a bad meal or experience, just not the greatest and there's likely better places to spend this amount of money."
"Haven't been back here since 2022. So glad to come back and had lunch at Aoi. Same friendly owner greeted me at the door. Service was pleasant.Had three maki combo, toro sashimi, ikura sushi!!! They were all so delicious! Toro sashimi could be more fatty. Felt like the price was a bit high for the toro quality. They were Chu toro not the fattest toro (fatty toro) * see the picExcellent ikura nigiri!!! Would definitely order that again! Everything else was great! Nice and friendly server! Ambiance is comfortable and clean."
"Cute spot for lunch. It's pretty dated, but cozy and the owner was by himself when we came for lunch. The sushi is great price to ratio and very filling.Ofc we went for the flaming bruins maki, the baked scallop maki, and the red dragon maki. Now i must say majority of the maki have shrimp tempura in it as a base with various tuna and salmon etc on top. Great flavors and he's generous with the portions. The sashimi was fresh and large slices! The agedashi tofu needed to be heated more but the owner made that right real fast! Thank you for that! Overall this isn't a super fancy, super high end priced spot. If you want good flavors fresh fish and at a good price, come support him! Will be back!"
"I recently gave Pokeworks a try and opted for the spam musubi. It was decent--nothing spectacular, but definitely a good option if you need a quick, filling meal on the go. The spam musubi (wrapped with plastic) is convenient to carry while traveling, making it a handy snack or light meal. There was a bit of a wait, but we did come during a busy time, so that was expected. The overall experience was okay. If you find yourself in need of a quick bite and are in the area, Pokeworks is a solid choice."
"I recently visited Matsunori Handroll Bar, and the food was incredibly fresh and delicious!- Akami Jelly: Lean tuna with ponzu jelly- Miso Butter Cod: Black cod marinated for 72 hours, served with homemade miso butter cream- Spicy Scallop: Scallops topped with spicy mayo and masago tobiko- Scallop: Scallops with cucumber, sea salt, and lime zestPlenty of street parking options outside and around the block -- best to go when there's no Red Sox games!"
"Called the restaurant around 6 pm and made reservations for 8 pm that same night. Dinner is offered at 5:30 pm and 8 pm and is roughly two hours long. The bar sits about 17 or 18 people and there are several tables and chairs. We were informed we had to sit at a table because we had our young children with us. Parking is street parking and was ample/free when we arrived around 7:50 pm.Omakase is eighteen courses with the option of adding bafun uni, which we did. A la carte is not an option. There was a course breakdown on the menu. It was: Soup * Assorted Sashimi Plates * Assorted Sushi * Toro Japanese Fishes * Caviar * Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef * Foie Bras * Truffle Kitchen Specials * Hand Roll * Umami Dessert. It was nice having a breakdown. It would've been lovelier having a list of everything prepared. I'm not an auditory learner so it was hard following the description of all the dishes. That's just a personal preference though. We also got the set A sake tasting which came with three glasses. You have the option of starting with set A and continuing further to sets B and C, the last which offers five glasses, if you're enjoying it and want to keep drinking. We were perfectly content with set A. They also offer an assortment of champagne, beer, and sodas.Everything we ate was delicious. I swore I heard a chorus of angels singing when I ate the toro. The Umami spoon was amazing. Wagyu and foie gras decadent. Husband really enjoyed the fluke. Aji was one of the best I've ever had. No regrets about adding the bafun uni.Service was warm and attentive. I'm glad a 20% kitchen appreciation fee is automatically added to the bill and that gratuity is optional. We added extra cash on top. They deserve it for how hard they work. Ahmed was one of our servers and made our experience a great one. He explained all the dishes to us personally so I didn't feel like we were missing out on anything at the bar. Our food also came out roughly around the same time as those sitting at the bar.Place is decorated simply and not pretentious. My husband was in dark jeans, a button down shirt, dress shoes, and a blazer. I had a dress, jean jacket, and flat sandals on. We were the most dressed up by a lot. Everyone was pretty casual. I have no clue if that's on par for the area since we're not from around here.I thought the price was very fair given the quality of food and service. I'd wholeheartedly suggest this place to anyone looking for a solid omakase experience. I see reviews bringing up places like Sushi Nakazawa, which I've also had the opportunity of dining at. I think comparing Umami Omakase to the former is unfair as I don't feel like Umami is trying to be them. I didn't come to Umami expecting it to be like Sushi Nakazawa and I'm glad it's not. At Sushi Nakazawa, my children would not even be allowed in the main dining room. I appreciate the different approaches to omakase. Also would it not make more sense to compare omakases that are within reasonable proximity to one another and not ones that are a five hour drive apart? Just a thought."
"Great food on Newbury st! They serve Omakase nigiris 13pc for dinner, 11pc for lunch at $38 and $37 respectively. Dinner comes with miso soup and lunch comes with miso soup and salad. Both come with matcha mochi which were freshly made and so delicious! Fish pieces were not as vibrant in color compared most other good sushi restaurants but that might be because they choose fish without (much or any! coloring added. I'm not entirely sure. Fish options for the omakase dinner included sea bream, ikura, uni, squid (one of the best i've had!), unagi, salmon, fatty tuna, regular tuna, marinated tuna, yellowtail, jumbo shrimp, scallop and omelet. Rice was also not too much which I appreciate. Also ordered the potato salad which is one their signature. Comes in a bed of fried onion. Potato salad is made with boiled eggs, pickled vegetables. Not too salty or sweet. Service was wonderful. Our server was very kind and friendly. Tailored to our needs well! The interior is a mix of modern, class and Japanese styles. Very clean space and comforting yet upbeat music."
