Jody W. "Great place to stop for a beer and snack. Historic site in a historic part of this historic town. The bar feels like an old-time pub and then the seating area (where we we were) has windows for the perfect people watching scenario. Our server was very nice but just needed a little reminder to make eye contact when she walks by. She probably would have sold more drinks if she were slightly more attentive, but she was still lovely."

Kit D. "Very good place for dinner in a convenient location right by the New England Aquarium on Milk St. If you're anything like me, it's a real Bostonian privilege to be able to spend a day at the aquarium and conclude the day with dinner downtown. My girlfriend and I came here for dinner on a Sunday around 5PM. Right off the bat, I noticed that the restaurant is clean and elegant, and that the host was very friendly. Very good vibes right off the bat. I asked for a table by an outlet so I could charge my phone, and the host was very accommodating and went to go check if they had one available. We were seated, and I was happy that I could charge my phone while dining. We ordered Shirley Temples as our drink and two entrees for dinner. The Shirleys were very good, had a perfect amount of grenadine, and were aesthetically pleasing. For my entree, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which came with fries. It was very good and I enjoyed having ciabatta bread as the vessel. It was jam packed with bacon, chipotle mayo, and avocado. The fries were also very tasty, with the right amount of salt and a perfect cut (not too thin, not too thick, but juuuuust right!). My girlfriend ordered the Thai salad which she got as a half portion with additional grilled chicken. It was very good, but a bit on the sweeter side with the ingridients and dressing. It also came with noodles which were a good addition. In short, the food was very delicious, but the service was a bit on the slower side despite the restaurant not being crowded at all. We had to wait a while between ordering, getting our food, and getting the bill. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, so I give them five stars. This will now be my go-to place when I visit the wharf. Good job Granary!"

Linda R. "Perhaps the best Guinness in Boston. Not just according to me but according to many, including many visiting Irish gents and ladies. A classic Irish pub with a classic Irish pub menu. I have enjoyed many a pint here and many good meals. Today I had the Shepherds pie. It was flavorful but a bit dry. I did like the Irish brown bread that was served along side. Two at our table had the eggs Benedict and weren't very happy with them...too dry and not much flavor. The atmosphere was good- very friendly service. There weren't many people in the restaurant and the server made the rounds several times but we kept having to flag her down. It was kinda like she was making the rounds to make the rounds not check in on anyone. Slightly odd. Overall a great stop if you are looking for a legit Irish bar in Boston."

Ellen B. "We were staying at the hotel next door and came over to get a late dinner. The place was busy, but there is lots of seating and we were seated within a few minutes. The interior and ambiance were great, with a large bar area and huge table area. The open kitchen is always fun to watch. Our server was attentive and everything came out in good time. We had the fried pickle appetizer, the beet arugula salad, and chicken fingers with fries. All the food was really good. The pickles tasted either homemade or refrigerator pickles. The coating was maybe a little thick, but crispy. These were chips, served with a fantastic spicy remoulade. My picky daughter didn't love them, but I did. If I was hungrier and not dieting, I would have eaten them all!I loved the beet salad. Yellow and red beet chunks surrounded a fresh bed of arugula and greens with walnut sized perfectly fried goat cheese balls and macadamia nuts. It was dressed with a light balsamic vinaigrette. The dressing wasn't strong or oily and I either could have used a little more or maybe I should have used a dash of salt & pepper. The salad was great though and I really enjoyed it. The chicken fingers were 4 big pieces of crispy breast meat tenders with good fries. My daughter loved these. This is a great place in Arlington and if ever in the area again, I would definitely stop in!"

Big no to cheers though. Nice quaint place where there's always a place to sit down. Love the decor and almost has a divey feel to it. Haven't tried the food yet although doesn't look like a place where you'll go to grab a bite."

"This rating is based on the character of the people working there.I was visiting Oak Grove Cemetery (both parents there) and someone took the shot glass I leave there as when I visit I take a shot and leave a shot. To put it politely I was upset. I look for a pub close by and Black Horse popped up. I went there explained the situation as I needed a shot glass. Not only did they give me a shot glass but the said my drink was on the house. Kudos to the young man at the front, the bartender, and the owner for empowering his employees to do what is right. To bad stories like this do not make the news. Thank you and I know where my wife are going out to eat next.Matt"

The service is friendly as were the customers who stuck up conversion . I ordered wings and was surprised . For the record , I don't prefer breaded wings so when they came ( breaded) I gave a little sigh ... I was really impressed upon trying them how crispy and tasty they were. The bleu cheese was perfect and fresh as well. Very good meal highly recommended!!"

The inside of the restaurant has a cute ambiance and decor; the outside is a little confusing to me because they still have Christmas lights and decorations up (as of mid February). Although I am pretty festive, this feels like a lazy move. Service felt a little rushed; stopped by every minute to ask for our order, and delivered the bill before we had even decided if we wanted more drinks or dessert. However they did treat us to an appetizer.I tried the steamed gyoza, spicy tuna roll, and the otoro and wagyu nigiri. The spicy tuna roll was large (and filling) and the nigiri were fresh and unique flavor- the wagyu was my favorite!"

If you want to take everything as it comes and come as you are for a casual night of fun -- this is your place. The magic of this place is that everyone will feel like a regular here. The bartenders make sure of that. Order a beer and saddle up to the bar to meet a new friend. Who knows, you may be sharing a pitcher or doing shots with them by the end of the night. They all scary very big selection of some nice small batch bourbons which is just my choice and she had lots of patience had no problem with the different things I was requesting and she just was right on top of everything, I know it was a Monday night. Joy G. "Solid food but I wanted to give a shout-out to a fantastic trivia experience! Trivia can be a toss-up. I've gone to others in the Boston area where the questions were impossible (to the point where not a single person got it right) or the sound was deafeningly loud (to the point where my watch registered a dangerously high decibel level and was basically telling me to GTFO to save my hearing). The trivia set-up at Town Tavern was perfect. Three solid rounds of questions, different categories to keep things exciting, a great trivia master. For people with sensitive ears, the noise volume was perfect. I could hear everyone at my table. It was the most fun I had at trivia to date. Food-wise, you can't go wrong with the bar food. Our table split an order of onion rings (really enjoyed the sauce) and my chicken Caesar did the job of making me feel healthy-ish. Which of course I then undid by basically inhaling a slice of the basque cheesecake on my own. Loved the wedge fries here, I may get just an order of that for myself next time. Prices were pretty affordable. For a group of eight that ordered drinks and desserts, the total came out to about $183 before tax/tip."

We each got the sushi lunch special of 2 rolls + miso soup, and it was a good amount of food. For our maki, we selected spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, eel & avocado, and the crazy roll. Fish tasted fresh and rolls were a good size & balanced. The spicy rolls weren't very spicy and also had some tempura crunchies for added texture. For drinks, we got iced green tea and yuzu soda, which were both bottled and served with a glass of ice. The yuzu soda was super refreshing and tasty - I'd get this again. Their menu is pretty large, and I'm excited to return and try more."

Honestly, I didn't have high expectations as the menu looked pretty generic. I was proven wrong by their execution...The meatloaf sandwich was nothing short of the most fire meatloaf and freshly made gravy I've had. An amazing combination of flavors with the crispy onion strings, mozzarella, and mushroom. I took half home because it was very filling and it was still great after re-heating. The grilled banana bread dessert definitely hit. I thought the banana would overpower the taste but it was mild and the sweetness of the cream evened it out. I'd bring guests and friends back here."

FUN!We both ordered the Fisherman's Combo plate ($13.95) - deep fried shrimp, fish, and calamari. The seafood was placed upon a bed of thick cut fries and accompanied by a dollup of fresh cole slaw. Food was good, given that it was bar food. Service was super friendly! The place was crowded and it oozed with a team spirit! What I liked best was that Budwiser was there at the pub running a special - if you drink a Bud, you get a choice of a Tshirt. The clam chowder was nice and creamy and the French onion was very tasty. We enjoyed our beers and ordered another round. We had a good time hanging out and watching the game on TV."
