It was the weekend of the Boston Marathon so the streets were busier than normal. We were seated at a communal table. Most if not all were like this so they can fit more people. Fortunately my friend and I were seated right at the window so we only had people on one side. This is a no frills restaurant, which means don't dilly dally. You never feel rushed, but the atmosphere didn't make us feel like we should stay beyond what we needed to enjoy our ramen.Speaking of, we both got small sizes. It may look tiny, but we were both very full when we finished. Broth was creamy, thick, and savory without being salty or over powering. Noodles were perfectly cooked. I loved the menma and the ume on top. It was the perfect meal for a busy Boston day of walking around the city.Don't sleep on this place!"

I had never had cold udon noodles before, and it was great!Interior is cute with some nice decor and plenty of seating. Service was nice, quick, and attentive. FOOD: ~Cold Uni Udon (5/5): Cold dish! I love uni and ikura, so this hit the spot. The broth/sauce was a dashi flavor. Mixed it all up and was the perfect balance of umami and salty. The coldness of the dish really ensured the integrity of the udon noodles, and they were so perfectly chewy~Sukiyaki Udon (5/5): Hot dish! Tasted like hot pot! The beef was very tender and had a decent amount of cabbaged that was perfectly braised. I loved this dish. This is definitely a must try!"

We went to the hostess desk and a person sat us down outside of the restaurant since we had a baby carriage. We waited 20 minutes before my husband went to ask if a server can come assist us with getting our waters. We waited about another 10 minutes. The waitress that came over was nice and got us our water. We noticed many people coming in way after us already getting their drinks and food at this point. When we finally got our waters, we placed our orders in. We were hungry and so were our toddler and baby. The food came out about 15 minutes later and the waitress never came back to check how everything was. She came back once we were done and to give us our check. The food was great, surprisingly. I got the spicy pork szechuan ramen; ramen with half a tea stained egg, red onions, snow peas, spicy chicken broth, cilantro, scallions, and szechuan pork/teriyaki sauce. SO GOOD. Everyone enjoyed their food. Unfortunately the service was lacking at this location. Don't think we'll return."

Joy G. "Great Thai food - I had to exercise some serious restraint to not finish my green curry because I wanted a portion for leftovers for the next day. The inside is not very big so if you don't want to wait for a table, suggest coming during the early hours. We tried the corn cake as an appetizer. It was pretty good, though the individual corn nuggets got stuck in my back molars. Loved the spicy peanut dipping sauce that came with it. My green curry was seriously one of the best iterations of the dish I've had in a while. Good coconut flavor, packed with veggies (eggplant, string bean, carrot, zucchini), and the tofu I ordered as a protein soaked up so much of the flavor. They offer lunch/dinner portions for the curries. I picked mild for spiciness because I'm a total wimp and it was still pretty spicy for me (so just know their "regular" may actually be quite a kick). The pepper signs on the menu are pretty accurate. I also can't pass up homemade ice creams, especially with black sesame as an option. It nailed the black sesame flavor (i.e., not too sweet) but the texture was a bit too icy and hard to spoon. Next time, I may skip the ice creams and save the stomach room for more of the appetizers/entrees. Next time: the tom yum noodle soup, the crab fried rice. Parking: street options available."

Depending on how I'm feeling, I'll either get a beef chow fun ( 乾炒牛河) or 3 meats over rice plate (三拼飯), with extra ginger scallion sauce! For the three meats, I like to get char siu 叉烧, soy sauce chicken 豉油鸡, and either duck 烤鴨 or octopus if they have it. I also enjoy their cold plate options, just to snack on. I love the cold spicy chicken feet and sometimes duck feet. Very quick service here, even if the line is out the door. Food is made fast, 5-10min ready. As for sit down/dine in, I haven't sat down to eat here in a minute. I've gotten very used to just ordering takeout from here and be on my merry way."

Hubert H. "Excellent soba place that offers a wide variety of dishes. The soba is their specialty but it seems as if they're willing to offer other stuff like sushi as well. The appetizers might have been even better than the soba. The dragon ball avocado cold starter was beautifully presented, with roe and crabstick inside. The mayo might have been slathered on too heavily, but otherwise a nice dish. The homemade tofu was a light appetizer that brought out the homemade soybean flavor really nicely, with quality fish flake and seaweed garnishes. The galbi and shitake mushroom yakitori skewers were quite flavorful, especially the shitake. The pork kimchi hot soup dip with cold soba was fairly excellent; I wish that the buckwheat granules of the cold soba were more pronounced on bite, but the soba was definitely fresh tasting. The pork kimchi soup was a nice complement as well. The pork used was belly; that could have been clearer on the menu. The Ebi Kakiage Hot Soba comes with a creative deep-fried mixed vegetable with shrimp concoction. It was an interesting take on the more usual tempura options. This evening's presentations were a bit too oily, but the concept was strong and in general quite delicious."

So far, Noodle Barn has been the most decent that I've Door Dashed in Boston. Bun Thit Nuong - meat was well seasoned and had a little char on it, and the veggies were cut super thin. The noodles were too thin, but at least they weren't dry, which makes it not edible. Also the eggroll the put in there gets soggy by the time it gets to the customer. If they cared about food quality, they would put the eggroll in a separate bag so it stays crispy, especially since you're paying $2. for it. The fish sauce was also super watered down and didn't have any chili garlic or anything in it. In California, this would be 2 stars, but for Boston, it's 4 stars."

The bowl was packed with thinly sliced chicken, scallions, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and salted bamboo. I opted for extra bean curd skin as my add-on. My favorite part though had to be the broth. The jjajangmyeon is also pretty good from here. Last night, we ordered the seafood scallion pancake, a small spicy tangsuyook, seafood jampong (D7) with extra veggies & seafood, & stone pot pork with rice. Very generous portions, in my opinion. The prices may look a bit steep but it's because most of the dishes are meant to be shared family style. Seafood kimchi pancake was alright, it wasn't crispy and kind of mushy... probably wouldn't get that again from here. The tangsuyook was good! They definitely do make one of the crispiest tangsuyooks around. The stone pot pork was yummy and the jampong was amazing as always. Lots of shrimp, calamari, & noodles. They have a table setup outside the restaurant (they even had hand sanitizer for you!) and you can simply walk up and mention your order. The star of the show were there rice bowls! The chicken was well cooked, properly seasoned, and so flavorful. The grapow had a spice to it but it was right on point. And for $8, this is great value for your money. You essentially get a big meal and now you're free to try more variety too! The only change I would have made is requested for more sauce (I like my rice dishes covered in sauce, that's just me!). The spring rolls with the plum sauce made a perfect side dish. Next up, the pad Thai and pad woon sen were tasty and hit the mark. Pan fried noodles were perfectly crispy in a separate styrofoam container while the gravy with pork and vegetables with in another large container. Since we had just picked it up, it was hot enough to pour directly over and soften the noodles. Chicken skin was well salted that it didn't really need the scallion and ginger oil. I liked how you can modify the spice level of every dish and request, for instance, no scallions or extra. Everything comes out to the table freshly prepared. We ordered:1. Crunchy garlic cucumbers: This made my breath stink to high heaven for the rest of the night but for anyone who loves garlic, this is for you. 2. Wood ear mushrooms: I love the texture of wood-ear but the sauce they were doused in was a bit too vinegary and spicy. One of the few dishes we didn't lick clean. 3. Overall I think they use solid ingredients (especially compared to the typical Chinese restaurant) but the flavors can be tweaked. They have wok air which is nice. I wouldn't feel like my mouth is dry from msg afterwards. Not my type of place but would be open to coming again. Interior We don't like how they kept the previous restaurant's decor with all the dark wood and dim lights. Chinese food esp this type isn't meant to be moody. I literally saw a couple need to use their phone flashlight to read the menu. Booth seating works for me. Heating is uneven across various parts of the restaurant. We ordered: stir fried rice cake, sweet and sour pork, boiled fish in chili oil, yong ping braised chicken, sauteed snow pea leaves, stir fried beef with pickled vegetables Stir fried rice cake It was a surprise that it's not too oily too mushy and has wok air. The seasoning is uneven so some bites are too salty. Sweet and sour pork This was surprisingly still crunchy with sauce coating each piece. Meat is fresh. Flavor isn't the best but the balance of other parts makes this pretty solid. Boiled fish in chili oil The fish is flounder filet pieces but thankfully no freezer taste. My mom requested mild spicy so they eliminated the fragrant oil, and we immediately realized how bland it is without. The guy was nice enough to give us back the fragrant oil, promising that it's not spicy. True it's not spicy and not mala either. It tasted better but still not a flavor I like and found it not intriguing enough. It was a surprise they have a bunch of veggies at the bottom. Yong ping braised chicken It looks so dark and dry but surprisingly actually still juicy inside. The only problem is too salty and oily. Sauteed snow pea leaves We ordered this instead of choy sum because this feels relatively more worth considering the price difference. It was mediocre. We got it only for the sake of veggies. The actual sprouts aren't tender and quite rough. Stir fried beef with pickled veggiesThis was my least favorite. The beef was mushy and thin. I don't like pickled veggies. I read some reviews saying that this is authentic and yummy such that Chinese people would go to. No offense but when I went everyone else was non-Asian. There's so many Chinese in Boston, I 500% bet that if something is authentic enough and proper Chinese social media it'll be flooded with them.
