They really should try to advertise those attention more to attract more customers. But regardless, the restaurant already seems to be doing great without such additional advertisements. There are people waiting in line while we dined there. Also, there was literally a row full of pickups/deliveries waiting--I counted at least 12 orders waiting to be picked up at one point. The curries were good. Mango lasse was good as well. We will definitely be back."

For Indian cuisine, I only go to one place in the South End, Mela. And my friends have been accommodating me by going there when we decide on Indian. However, I've heard them talk about Punjab Cafe and I just go yeah yeah yeah. My husband randomly took me here since we were nearby. I had zero expectations of this place. Upon entrance, there is an area where all the awards they've received were. Then, we were greeted with a smile. We tried a cod pakora, garlic naan, and three curry entrees. The curries were very tasty. But that garlic naan, is HEAVEN. I've never had better naan than this! It was so fluffy. I can't stop thinking about it. If you're in the area, you have to do yourself a favor and try them out!"

The French toast was delicious, I loved the extra spice (cardamom/cinnamon). The paneer pakora was so yummy-especially with the mint dip. The eggplant masala was melt in your mouth-just heavenly!! And the coconut basil chicken was delicious!! The basmati was nicely spiced and fragrant. Had a very reasonably priced glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. We are looking forward to having our leftovers for lunch tomorrow and adding Kashmir to our circuit!"

It was quite crowded inside because of graduation weekend but they managed to squeeze us in. They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from, and we tried their chicken tikka, vegetable biryani, and tofu vindaloo. My favorite was the chicken tikka, which was incredibly flavorful and the chicken was tender. The portions were all filling and went well with a side of naan."

They have a huge menu to choose from and some dishes already come hot and others you can request spicy. We decided on the shared bread basket because it came with onion naan, regular naan and a different puffy bread. All of which were super yummy! We finally decided on getting a biryani dish because we never do and picked lamb. We also got the lamb vindaloo and a chick pea dish. The service was amazing! It was a hot day and it was nice having our cups of water refilled constantly! The food came out nice and hot and they even had mini cute heat trays to keep our food nice and warm throughout our entire meal. The food was delicious! And we ordered most dishes spicy and they really were! We will definitely come back again!"

Will warn that the food is fairly spicy....so make sure to order items that will cool the heat (raita). Good portion sizes.....always end up with a lot of left overs, and price is very fair. Jin Y. "Had a late night craving and I got in my Yelp/grub hub order just in the nick of time - saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, extra rice, and Diet Coke (I know I'm a basic b but I like what I like). I was staying in a hotel in Natick so total w delivery fees and tip was just shy over $60. At first I had sticker shock which I always get when ordering delivery nowadays but when the food came I was so happy because there was so much food that I could easily eat leftovers the next day (which I did, and it was delicious even cold). The chicken in the tikka masala was on the dry side but there was ample sauce and the chunks were generous. The paneer in the saag was a bit more firm than the kid I usually get in so cal but the spice in both dishes as well as the ample sauce made up for it. I didn't realize the dish was going to come with a giant take out box of rice - if I had known maybe I would not have ordered extra rice but it's all good, I ate most of it divided into two meals. The garlic naan was elite. The driver forgot to give me my Diet Coke and had to return to give it to me but that's not the restaurant's fault."

Normally I would get chicken tikka masala (extra spicy ) or butter chicken. But last night, I tried their tandoori chicken for the first time and it was amazing! I've had tandoori chicken before from other places but Shanti was so much more well seasoned. Of course , I had to get it spicy. Both the flavor and spice was amazing . You can either get it as a whole chicken or half chicken. I believe it was $17-$18 for half a chicken and it's probably $35-$36 for the whole chicken. Half chicken feeds 2-3 people. It usually comes with either rice or plain naan. TIP - MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR EXTRA LEMON. IT PAIRS SO WELL WITH THE CHICKEN. As always, always ask for their condiments. All their chutney sauces is amazing. It's a must have."

Jessica S. "My coworker recommended this restaurant as it had good reviews and was conveniently located to meet up with another coworker from our company. It's located next to a child care school in a weird intersection on Bow St in Somerville. There's paid street parking around the area but may be difficult to find especially during lunch and dinner rushes. My group and I ordered steamed Chicken Mo Mo and the Beef Chilli to share. The chicken mo mo was soooo good. Unliked Chinese XLB, there was a lot of spices and flavors in the mo mo. Delicious! The beef chilli was also really good but also incredibly spicy LOL. Tons of different spices marinated with the beef, bringing out a flavor blast in my mouth. I wanted to keep eating but the spiciness kept killing me. I ordered the lunch special Chicken Tikka Masala. It came out in a plastic take out container (all the other foods were like that too) and there was only a small portion of the tikka masala which threw me off. BUT the portion didn't matter as there was a lot of meat and the curry, omg. Very thick and sooo full of flavor. I've never had tikka masala that was this thick! Delicious! A hidden hole-in-the-wall gem that deserves a little more credit. The quality and the flavor profile of the foods were really good! Definitely would love to come back in the future."

Kebab Factory is one - hopefully I've reviewed the other two but won't steal KF's thunder by revealing them here. There is so much variety here in the menu, you'd be right to be suspicious. But all of it is actually good. So you score twice: you'll never get sick of the place, and you'll discover new food even if you're very familiar with Indian and Pakistani foods (unless you're of that background and maybe you know more from home than I did in my upbringing). I really enjoyed trying the 3 sauces it came with, each of which had a totally different flavor. We ordered garlic naan, lamb curry, and duck vindaloo. The entrees came with plenty of rice, which helped to soak up the curry, in addition to the naan. If you're a fan of spice, order the curry spicy for a nice kick.Overall, it seems like this is more of a takeout spot, but the restaurant itself has a decent ambiance. We had goat curry, mixed biryani, some shrimp curry, and tikka masala. All but one dish gets 5/5, as they were delicious and the meat tender. However, the second you walk in, you are greeted with the smell of delicious food and an incredibly friendly staff making the atmosphere welcoming and homey. I loved how the owners would engage in small talk and ask how the food was/which dishes were our favorites. I came here on a Saturday for the weekend lunch buffet for $17.99 per person. There's a large assortment of options to try which was awesome! It's so thoughtful how they separated their vegetarian options from non-vegetarian options. I also liked how they had a section just for chutneys!! I truly enjoyed everything that was offered, but my favorites were: - Tandoori Chicken: incredibly tender and juicy chicken marinated with spices- Gobi Manchurian: super crispy yet packed with flavor- The Nariyal barfi (coconut dessert): not too sweet and so tasty! - Mango Lassi ($3.99): this wasn't a part of the buffet, but it was delicious and refreshingEverything was hot and fresh as the staff consistently ensured nothing was empty. Our plates were always cleared from our table if empty and our glasses were always ensured to be filled with water. If I haven't emphasized it enough, the service was amazing! Minerva's food is amazing, and the buffet price for the quality of food is fantastic, but the attention and care to the customer experience is really what makes them a terrific restaurant. The tikka was not bad - I guess they've had enough complaints from people who thought they were ordering the dish with gravy that they included a small jar on the side, which was a nice touch. Portion was small for $12, but that's often the case with paneer tikka. Nothing to write home about flavor wise. The achar was awful! It has a simple decor a and a bit of a dark (as in dimly lit) ambiance.A choose to have a cocktail - the Himalayan green that had gin, tequila, and sour apple. Sour apple was the predominant flavor but the cocktail was very drinkable, It came in a martini glass with short straw. My wife and I got the veggie dinner for two with some additional cherry naan. They were nice enough to let us sub-in a banana momo special into it, which was ok with a bit of banana flavor. The predetermined apptizers were 2 veggie samosas (nothing out of ordinary) and a very good Mulligatawny soup. I ordered the Kabuli Chana to be spicy hot and it was great. Imagine a perfectly heated chickpea base with a thick red sauce.Dessert was equally enjoyable. We shared a sweetened carrot cake with milk that was only fine but the milk based balls in honey were fantastic.During the Covid lockdown we tried their takeout and was equally satisfied. That is the reason for this update. This is a medium size restaurant that features pictures of the Indian Holi Festival on the walls. The festival is very colorful due to the brightly colored chalk dust that is thrown into the air. The result is an explosion of color. After looking at all the colorful pictures, you will not leave this restaurant without a smile on your face. For lunch on this trip, we started with mango lassis and an order of Peshwari Naan. The lassis were very good with a lot of mango taste. The Naan likewise was very good and very hot out of the oven. For the main course, I ordered the Hydrabadi Mirch Aur Baigan Ka Salan, consisting of roasted red peppers and fried eggplant in a coconut curry sauce. My wife ordered the Lamb Sali Boti, and we shared both dishes. Each dish was prepared perfectly and tasted really good. The lamb was so tender, we didn't need a knife to cut it. The Basmati rice was prepared using cumin seeds, giving it a very unusual, yet very good flavor. We wanted to try their deserts, but did not have room.
