Boss Hog's Chicken & BBQ

Supposed to be pepper steak over rice but had the texture and thick gravy like beef tips over rice. For me, the green peppers did not add to this dish. The cabbage tasted like canned food. One bite and I was done. The buttered potatoes were the best dish but served very very hot temperature. Burnt my tongue eating them. / Meatloaf dinner normally very good. One bad plate where cook was too heavy handed on the seasoning.

It was AWFUL. The pot roast was so greasy and had globs of fat in it. The collards were bland. The stuffing would have made Amazon proud as a filler. The fried thighs made us want to go to Bojangles. Worst of all the server was grumpy and unhelpful. If she could have been ruder I don't know how.Go to Hog Heaven . Food is WAY better and service is EPIC.

Had a barbecue pulled pork sandwich that was amazing and barbecue beans. That were just incredible. However, the place waswas a little dirty napkins and crap on the floor needed a good busing. I would go back again the folks there were friendly and accommodating.

My North Carolina born mother and aunt raves about Boss Hog's BBQ. And they' know BBQ! I enjoyed the fried flounder; generously portioned and just lightly battered. The hush puppies were almost too good; we couldn't stop eating them! If you ever make it to "Little Washington" this is a must try!

It's so good I have been here two days in a row and will go by again today for lunch. Yes, I have been impressed with this BBq restaurant. My first visit was about a year ago. At that time, I got a bbq rib plate with 2 sides. I got it again yesterday. Monday, I got the bbq pork plate with 2 sides which I will get again today. It's generous portion that they give you. In fact, it's enough to eat for lunch and then again for dinner which is exactly what I am going to do today.It's n Scene: The best side that I like here is the sweet potatoes with marshmallows. I always get that as it is delicious. I also like their black eyed peas and potatoes. Menu items ordered yesterday: BBQ ribs with extra bbq sauce, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, tomato potatoes along with some homemade hush puppies they always give you.

Unfortunately I am sad to say that my meal of ribs was totally unsatisfactory. I have always loved Boss Hog's and have looked forward to their ribs. However they are now smoked/grilled or whatever??? until they are hard as a rock, literally "dry as a bone" and it is impossible to cut the ribs apart. They slapped a little sauce on them on their way to the steam table. They used to cook them in their wonderful sauce and they were juicy, tender and meaty. Save your money and make the drive to Deadwood in Bear Grass for their ribs. You get more, the ribs are meatier than most, tender and not dry. They are "fall off the bone" tender and moist. The $ is the same but the ambiance of the western theme is certainly more pleasing and worth the drive and the wait, since they are only open Th thru Sun. I complained to staff and they did replace with another "freshly cooked" half rack but they were just the same so I have to surmise that it is the quality of the meat and their current cooking method. There were two other customers that had the ribs and they too were complaining and saying the ribs used to be moist and juicy with the previous cooking method. I hope Boss Hog's will reconsider and go back to their original cooking method. I have not gotten their chopped Barbeque in a while but it was good with the sauce on it. I do like their stewed potatoes, green beans, collards, apples and the hush puppies. They are "southern cooked" which I am used to.

Would say it's kind of middle of the road. Nothing to write home about, but your not gonna be disappointed at the same time

No prices are posted so buyer beware. The dark chicken quarters were very small...charged us for 2 slabs of ribs when we only got one. 3 entree's ...5 sides...water to drink $43+. Food was good but we can't go back at those prices. You're eating out of styrofoam with plastic forks. AND the girl checking out was handed the phone and then she had to bill our order again...ya don't take calls while taking care of a customer.

I had the worst service there tonight. They were not busy when I went in and ordered. Had to wait on hamburger steak but did not mind. I was told it would take 20 minutes and I agreed. After 25 minutes no hamburgers in a plate for me even though I waited for them. Then lady in back wanted to argue with me she had just brought them out. I asked did anyone communicate with anyone a customer was waiting on them. After a conversation that got heated between her and I she told them to fix my plates so I would leave. Don't think I will go back with that service. All they needed was to communicate and it was never going to happen had I not asked about my plates. Food is good. Service not so.

The bbq sandwich had a good smoky taste and plenty large. The only complaint was the very small portion of fries. Crinkle cut fries not too tasty either.
