Paid parking on the street. You may get lucky and find a spot out front or around the corner like I did. We were immediately greeted and seated by the hostess and shortly after our server came over. I ordered the mimosa flight and she told me that it came with a full bottle, which I thought wouldn't be a problem cause I thought I was sharing....it was great though. Our meal (French toast meal w/fried fish and chicken and waffles) was good and seasoned appropriately, not too much and the food wasn't soggy as if overcooked and sitting, everything was fresh.

Yesterday, I visited Bookers for brunch with my family. The first thing was flies all over the table. We were seated right next to the kitchen. Second, I ordered the French toast, which I didn't like the taste. The waitress was really sweet and got the manager for me.I asked if I could get something else because I didn't like the French toast. He told me that if the foods come out per the menu, it's not a tasting kitchen, so I would have to purchase something else.Third, the menu should state that if you order it, you pay for it like it or not. They lost a customer yesterday, and my family will not be returning either. I went there last Thursday for the Happy Hour and loved the vibe, but the way I was told to eat what you ordered, like it or not, was unacceptable for a restaurant. I work in food service every day, and I wouldn't have never told a customer to pay for it and eat it because you ordered it.Unprofessional, Unacceptable

Bookers has established itself as a Philly standard. You want great food, smooth vibe and great people, (Customers AND staff!), ...right in the heart of the 'hood (as noted by one who grew up here!),...served at a standard that makes it an easy choice over ANYWHERE in Philly,Bookers!(...and don't get me started on their other spot, Bayou next door!)

Visited Booker's on a Monday for brunch and was not disappointed. I was able to park right out front, was warmly greeted by the hostess, and seated right away. Our server was friendly and let us know that we could easily have substitutions. Instead of the traditional chicken (tenders or wings) and waffles, we ordered chicken tenders and French toast. The chicken was nice and crispy and seasoned well. The French toast was accompanied with syrup, whipped cream and we added a side of strawberry compote. For drinks, we had their peach ginger mock tail. This drink was refreshing and the right balance of sweetness from the peach and kick from the ginger.

Hey, Yelp family! Yes, I'm making a review JUST about the bread pudding. I have tell ya'll about our date night at Booker's and this bread pudding situation--it was pure dessert nirvana! Picture yourself snuggling up with spoonfuls of warm, gooey bliss that melts in your mouth. It's as if they bottled up Grandma's secret sauce lol Hi, Grandma! (She doesn't Yelp but gets mad if I don't shout her out anyway)And let me tell you, you can taste the homemade flavor in every bite. I asked and there's defintiely an Auntie in the kitchen making it HAPPEN. I literally thanked her for making my day. What is the best part? The people at Booker's treated us like family. Seriously, their customer service is top-notch.So, the next time you want something cozy and pleasant, stop by Booker's for a taste of their famous bread pudding. You'll be hooked, just like we were!

Hanging out with the fellows. Biggest Salmon burger I have ever seen. It had a nice sauce with onions and tomato and fries. Also had the Bistro salad with goat cheese, raisins and dressing.

This was a first for my sweetheart. We didn't have a reservation but was seated. The waitress C was amazing she took the time to let us know about certain foods that were on the menu. I felt the place was very romantic, nice, comfortable, and beautiful. There was a woman playing the violin while we were having our dinner. A GREAT place with great food.

I visited Booker's while in Philly for National Black MBA Association conference! We made it a necessity to visit this establishment since it is Black owned! The Service: The customer service was really great! I forget our waitresses name, but she was extremely nice!! I remember she had her hair wrapped. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu. The Atmosphere: They have a bar, seated tables in the back and tables outside. The music was ON POINT! Every song was a 90's R&B hit!! I was singing the whole time. The Food: For appetizer, I ordered CRISPY BRUSSEL SPROUTS ($16) - Brussel sprouts tossed with Craisins, candied walnuts, NO GOAT CHEESE! These were delicious! For my meal, I ordered the SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN FILET ($24) - Boneless, skinless, crispy hand breaded breast strips with fries, collard greens w/ smoked turkey. This was pretty much chicken tenders. I did NOT like them. They tasted very dry. The collard greens were tasty though, as well as the fries. Overall, my experience was okay. The best part was the music. If I'm in Philly again, I'll visit once more for brunch.

A friend had recommended Booker's, so I decided to check it out during a quick Philly trip. I had originally considered brunch, but the dinner menu looked better. We enjoyed all of our food with the standouts being the seafood mac and cheese and the catfish. While the food was great, the service was all over the place. We were dining with my 4 year old and his sliders came out a considerable time after the rest of our food. I assume they forgot because I don't understand how sliders and fries would take the longest. The other service concern was that they gave us a QR code menu instead of a paper menu, and the prices of items did not line up. When I mentioned it to the manager, he mentioned rising costs. Change your prices if you need to, but keep the menu prices consistent with the check. While I thought that he should have offered to adjust, it was fine that he didn't because there were also some items that rang up for less than the menu price, so it balanced out. A word of advice, get the seafood mac abs check your bill.
