An authentic Nigerian food experience! I found Boniks while scrolling the map looking for a place to eat. I am glad serendipity found its way to my plate. Egusi soup is my standard test for Nigerian restaurants. But when I overheard someone mention okra soup, I changed my mind. (Egusi and okra are my two favorites). The okra soup was the real deal. Topped off with tilapia (Boniks didn't have any more chicken), the okra soup had the flavor and the consistency I want. While a little on the oily side, I happily ate. I also had a side of fried plantain that had the exact ripeness and sweetness that I like. My friend enjoyed the beef and jollof rice. I sampled some of the jollof and wish I had saved tummy space for more!Note that you will need some patience if you visit during a slow period. I was there on a Monday evening, and it took some time to get served. It almost seemed like a one woman show. I didn't mind though because I was also there to hang out with my friend.

Really intimate experience eating and talking with the owner about the traditional flavors and cuisine of Nigerian food. The jallof rice and and egusi were really flavorful.

My aunt and I tried Boniks after Scott's Antique Festival. This was her 1st time trying African food and the experience couldn't have been better! The food was great, and the atmosphere was AMAZING We were standing at the counter when regulars came in. They were excited that newcomers had popped in so they welcomed us with open arms and they treated us to lunch. Boniks is tucked into a large and mostly empty shopping center but I guarantee it's worth the visit! The portions were large, restaurant incredibly clean, and of course the atmosphere

I ate here for the first time. I ordered egusi with mixed meat and jollof rice with mixed meat. I actually thought I would get a mixture of different meats. What I mainly recieved was big bones with this thick grainy gelatinous substance attached. I was just a hunk of fat. I don't know why they did not cut off the bones. What purpose was there for allowing such huge bones to remain with no meat attached or with just a hunk of fat on it? There was no chicken. A tiny little piece of very boney fish. About the size of what would fit in a spoon. And it was nothing but long sharp bones. There was one tiny dried piece of some type of beef that tasted as if it was prepared weeks ago. It was not even edible. The egusi itself was ok. But it lacked in flavor the way in use to egusi being flavored and the melon they use in it was not stirred in fully. It was grainy. The egusi had few greens. It was just the grainy melon substance, swimming in palm oil, with huge knee or ankle bones of some animal with fat attached. I won't ever return for their egusi. No not at all. It's not worth the money. The fufu good in that I could tell it was prepared fresh. So it helped when I used it to eat the egusi. The jollof rice was ok. It had a weird aftertaste. In fact much of the food had a weird aftertaste. The African woman working behind the counter was nice. She was more spirited than what the workers I usually encounter in African restaurants. She said Thank you continually. That alone makes me more likely to return to give their other dishes a try. Maybe they were having an off day. We all have them.

The food was cold and tasteless. The meat was old and hard. The service was poor. The place was not good seemed like it needed to be cleaned. Overall I will never eat here again. I can cook Egusi better and with more flavor. Ask my Nigerian friends.

My friend put me on to this place, was a bit skeptical at first but after tasting the food that all changed. Prices, food, and atmosphere was all great. Wont lie, the lady in the front gave a bit of an attitude but I got over it.

Good food....but the owner's attitude is soooo bad. I would love to patronize it more but get ready to be abused for good food. I question myself everytime I consider going.
