So I went to a black bear diner in another state so this was the first time in Texas, and boy I had a great experience! Come here for brunch for sure!I got a unique chicken fried chicken (I believe) Benedict and it was so savory and good! I was so, so impressed!Definitely recommend for a low key easy going brunch. Our waitress was so nice and it was cool how we got such fast and good service even though we sat at the bar.

Breast Timmmmmme! I cashed in on my Free Bear Choice Breakfast which comes with a waffle, pancake, or French toast, eggs, and sausage/bacon. Note, there are no substitutions. However, my previous pics show substitutions, I must've paid extra. Can quite remember. I don't eat eggs, so I chose the waffle and bacon.I went during the day so I was customer number 5. Location: Open your eyes, because if you drive too fast past it, you will probably miss it. It is nestled in the shopping center next to Ulta Beauty and other neat businesses. Parking: BB Diner is in a fairly large shopping center, so there is plenty of parking. I lucked up and got front spot. Cleanliness: You can tell unfortunately they do not have enough workers because the unoccupied tables needed more than tidying up! You can tell they were once occupied because of the left over plates, cups, etc. The staff seemed overwhelmed! The Service: From what I can see, there are two people working the floor and one person cooking in the kitchen, so service was a bit slow. But, they were sooooo super polite and you can tell they are doing the best they can. Management, please give them a pat on the back.Poor workers, my first waffle was super burnt. They have had to take it back and remake it. The new waffle was light and fluffy and the bacon was perfect. Maybe the evening will be better with a different shift or perhaps another day when they are fully staffed.

This is an absolutely stellar upscale diner in the University area of Sugar Land. I'd heard about it several times from a friend so we made a point of coming out and trying it on a random Sunday when we didn't really have any other plans. There was a bit of a wait, but the experience was still spectacular. Tables turned over reasonably frequently, and we were seated in a booth, which is my wife's preferred seating arrangment. We both opted for the Bear's Choice on our first visit, which is a combination breakfast similar to a Grand Slam, but more upscale. We ended up getting enough food that we were full through lunch. We ended up coming back here to eat Thanksgiving lunch since we found out we weren't going to be hosting and didn't want to cook a lot for two people. Again, we received massive servings of turkey, potatoes, green beans, and stuffing to the point that we ended up taking half home and getting the full leftovers experience too.The drive is a bit out of our way, but we'll definitely be back here.

Great food and great service! We went on a busy Saturday after high school graduations and we still managed to get a seat, after a very short wait. The food was fabulous and the service was friendly and amazing!

BBD... aka Black Bear Diner.. such a cozy spot that reminds me of GoldiLocks and the three bears... except this bear theme is originating from Nor'Cal. Hence the theme of alll the northern trees and Nor'Cal Diner Vibes.. and yes.. some of my favorite diners are in California (my HomeState). On with the food. This spot has been tucked away within the land of Sugar since 2019.. I've been visiting since then and have always enjoyed the grub at BBD. Albeit, their are some days when the foods perfectly on par, and then on some days when its just okay. Within my most recent visit... lines were out the door, frigid air was kickin' in and groups of folks were simmering within the cozy diner. Thankfully a group of us were seated promptly and found good seats closer to the entrance. Due to the fact they were busy.. it seemed the food was just okay this time. I ordered a beef patty melt with fries and coleslaw. Fries were blonde in color, cold, and such few. Patty melt was okay. Pancakes were warm and tender as they typically are. With such a huge crowd on the weekends, food can be subpar at times. Other than that, I have always appreciated BBD's expansive menu. Their hot chocolate is sweet, warm and creamy, and their desserts are quite nice as well. Savory hot items such as their omelets and other sandwiches are typically good. Dining experience and service? Great. BBD has a nostalgic, woodsy, Nor'Cal feel that will make any nature enthusiast appreciative of their whimsical theme of all things bears and forests. They even sell a few bear plushies, socks, and all cuddlesy stuff at the front (where you pay). Service has always been warm and appreciative. Servers almost always check up on you. Though, they ought to put table numbers or order numbers on the table. At least twice during the weekend rush they brought out wrong food orders to our table. All in all, this is a spot that many cherish. Perf for families, friends and groups of folk that wanna chat over coffee, pancakes and all the sweeter things in life. Until next time!

My experience was, "it's ok." Ordered the hash browns and bacon "super crispy," bacon was folded over and limp. Sent the hash Browns back a few times.. but you could tell they weren't crispy when they were brought out. Eventually they made it right but I'm not a fan of sending things back multiple times.

BBD is located on a strip mall with free parking lot. There are plenty of indoor seatings, and some outdoor seatings. Other than food, BBD sells bear merchandise too. The menu comes in a form of newspaper. You will be spoilt with choices, and they have an all-day breakfast menu. I had the classic eggs benedict with creamy grits while my partner had the fish and chips. For the eggs benedict, the poached eggs were done right. However, the hollandaise sauce was a little too rigid. The creamy grits were not creamy enough and it was lumpy. As for the fish and chips, the fish wasn't fresh and it was very dry. The fish wasn't crispy too. I received good service but the food was disappointing.

Do you like bears? Do you like to eat breakfast surrounded by bears with waiters that remind you of waitresses from Supernatural with their personality? Then why aren't you here already? The breakfast is fun and has that diner/upscale IHOP/vibe. At the entry there is all this bear merchandise to get you in the mood for I guess what would be considered Vermont/Wyoming/up north decorations. I don't know. I haven't made it to that part of the country yet, but in my head that's what it looks like. The menu looks like a newsletter or old timey newspaper. I didn't realize that was the menu until I was looking at in more detail as I thought they were just going full on hard core with bear news or something. They have lots of options for people who like to eat healthy and people who pretend to eat healthy, and those who are like I'm about to get mauled by Smokey the Bear, give me that bacon! My food was good and this is one of the few places I was able to eat eggs. Me and eggs have not been on good terms for a few years. The large variety of options is what made it worth eating here. Everything on my plate was delish and tasted like it was made to be consumed greedily so we could order more food. However, I got full. Otherwise, I would have happily ordered more food. The clientele was a cool mix of parents, families, single ladies, people trying to look cool, like it really attracted everyone so the vibe had a genuine and authentic family friendly vibe-not the hellish forced vibe you feel at say a Chucky Cheese.Plus you're surrounded by cute bears. There are more cute bear merchandise near the check out and pastries like...bear claws. I mean, look I get it bears are cute. They are after all nothing more than standing puppies, so yeah they took this theme to the max and I'm not mad about it. Definitely come here if you are in the mood to reconnect with either Yogi Bear or you want good diner food with fun lively waiters.

Last week, I returned to Houston from a Vegas expo and needed some greens in my life. I looked online and saw that the Black Bear Diner had a tasty cobb salad on their menu. The family got in the truck and headed out for dinner. Food was tasty!! Wife liked her corn beef hash and my crispy chicken cobb salad was great!! It's officially my new favorite salad spot!! But I need to be honest, next time - I'll have them remove the purple onions. They were too much for me. My kids enjoyed their grub. 6yo had pancakes and my 9yo liked his chicken strips...just wasn't enough for him (we realized the kiddie menu doesn't work for him there. )Service was great. Our server was on point. She got slammed at one time but handled everything. Black Bear Diner vibe was great. The decor is too awesome. Bears are everywhere! They even have a full-size jukebox. Yes. My boys and I selected some tunes. Oh and the banana cream pie. HOLY CRAP BALLS!! Soooooo good. I would stop by just for that.
