I tried this place tonight and it was awesome! The service was great, the food was super tasty, and the atmosphere is perfect for watching an Astro's game. I got the Big Axe Philly and it was awesome! I never would have thought of putting queso on a Philly cheesesteak, but it totally works! I can't wait to go back! Also, the axe throwing is supposed to open tomorrow and they recommended making reservations to make sure to get a lane

Start for a drink at the bar. Bartender was by yourself and very preoccupied with other tasks. Beers were reasonably priced. The low star rating is simply for the service during this visit.

Food is forgettable but the service was good. This is a bar and grill so why are we standing to the Star Spangled Banner in the middle of our dinner? The ambiance is bark and furnishings old. We will not be back.

I'm not from Texas but I know a good burger when I get one; beefy burger served on brioche buns with lots of 'stuff' according to your order. We started with the Tots and sampler app plate and it kept getting better. The wings were HUGE (no kidding 'everything is bigger in Texas')! We were a VERY large party on a Saturday lunch and the service was fast and friendly. Of course, we tried the axe throwing and I'm sure the staff watching us on the side was entertained. Without much to compare since I didn't even know where I was, I wouldn't not go if I found myself in that area again.

This is my fifth or sixth time here. I have yet to eat anything I didn't like. They have a great selection and excellent customer service.

Gave them three stars because I am rating this based off of three different visits. The first time my husband and I came the food was great and the service was great. The second time I came with my mom and the food was good but the service was slow and we were there during the middle of the day and the place wasn't that busy. The third time I was there I came with my husband, my parents, and my best friend with her husband. Food was good but the service was terrible. Took forever to get drinks, took forever to get food, and then to check out the waitress didn't bring us the complete check and then in the end she ended up having to give us two different checks even after we asked for a check for the whole table. We were going to do the axe throwing but the place got packed but at least we got to go on Wednesday when they have 60 cent wings and ladies night half price axe throwing.

Great atmosphere. But poor service. Show up at big axe and have to pay a 5 dollar cover charge per head. Walk in to realize the establishment is full of teeny boppers. Sit down and order a round of drinks and sluggishly get them. Go to order second round and no drinks for 25 minutes. Ask to throw axes waiter states getting waivers and they never show up. Someone in the party decides to order a round of shots to surprise everyone on the way out..... surprise another prolonged situation. The waitress brought the tab before the shots.....

The food was decent, but my recommendation is to get a print out of your tab after every drink and check the prices. We asked first how much for Blanton's, Weller 12 and Eagle Rare and were told all were $16/pour. So imagine my surprise when I got the tab and they charged us $32/pour. Server said she had not inquired about Weller 12, but I watched her write it down. I don't even pay $32/pour for super allocated bourbon like CYPB or Weller SIB. The entire bottle of Weller 12 is $65 retail. So we basically bought 2 bottles and only got 6oz. In addition, table placards say Jack is $4.50, but you can see here they charged us $8. When I asked the bartender, she just said "those must be old signs"!?! I was surprised at the lack of customer service given there were less than 10 people in the place all night. Do not recommend.

As a local resident and a former Axe regular, I don't like leaving this rating. Alvin has limited choices for bars and restaurants, outside of fast food. Why Corey refuses to put more effort into capitalizing off that opportunity, I have no idea. The bartenders and servers have been and continue to be amazing! That might be the only thing keeping the regulars coming back and attracting others to give it a try. The food used to be good. It was consistent and fresh. There also used to be a daily special. When they expanded the space some months back, they refreshed their menu and added some items. We were optimistic, however quickly disappointed in the quality of the food. My husband and I used to come at least once a week. We decided to take a break from Axe for a couple months to hopefully let all their changes settle. We tried it again last night. It was 7pm on a Saturday following Thanksgiving. There may have been 15-20 people there, total, including the staff. Beers were cold and unfortunately so was the food. I ordered the club and my turkey chunks were still frozen in the middle. The store bought frozen fries were the only thing we ate because they were hot. My husbands wrap was soggy. The bartender was great as always, apologetic and offered to remove our food from the bill. We told her it was not her fault and we will pay for it; we were just disappointed that things were not improving.

We visited here with some local friends who had never tried this place. We started with the Big Axe Tots. It's tator tots with bacon, sour cream, and scallions. You received 8 tots lightly sprinkled with a drizzle of sour cream for $10. Really?? Extremely disappointed with this. Never again. On to the good. The burgers were large, cooked very well. My wife had the Club which she thought was very good. I had the Big Axe burger and could only eat half as did the wife with hers. My sandwich was huge and nicely done. Our waitress worked very hard at keeping drinks filled and checking to see if we needed anything. Overall we'd return. Just not the appetizer.
