I've been to a few Michelin Star restaurants/former Michelin Star restaurants and it's always an experience. Barolo was highly recommended to me by friends (and Yelp!) as a Michelin Star restaurant that doesn't necessarily feel like one, in a good way. I think that description hits the nail on the head. My take was that it had the service and food expected of the distinction but not necessarily the atmosphere and prices associated with it. I was all for it!First off, I need to say Melissa, our waitress, was one of the best waitresses I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. She was very personable, had great recommendations for everything, and was knowledgeable about the entire menu. If you have the pleasure to dine with Melissa as your waitress, you're in for a good time. Now, the food. Wow. Everything we ordered was amazing. You would expect for a former Michelin Star restaurant to have top-notch food and Barolo definitely delivered. I ordered the Agnello (Colorado Lamb) and all I could say was "wow" with every bite. The meat was cooked perfectly and the beet purée and golden beets complimented the meat amazingly. On top of that, the Torta di Formaggio (cheesecake with lavender honey) was the best ending to the meal I could have asked for. It was the closest thing to a perfect cheesecake I ever tasted. Finally, the cocktails we ordered were some of the best I have ever had. I know this all sounds like I may be over exaggerating but try it out for yourselves!I cannot wait for my next experience at Barolo Grill!

So the entire restaurant staff takes an annual trip to Italy and we were lucky to catch them on their last night before they left. (Review was saved in draft...)Barolo Grill specializes in Northern Piedmontese cuisine with an extensive wine list to pair with. Although you can choose to order everything a la carte, we opted for their course tasting menu with their classic wine pairing option. First things first, the service here is impeccable. From their host to servers, everyone is very professional, courteous and work extremely well together. Our server was super knowledgeable about everything Barolo grill. He described each dishes perfectly, and gave us a little backstory of the wines we tried. Overall it was very entertaining and it felt like we were getting to know how the restaurant came to what it is today.Honestly, everything here was very, very good. Veal tenderloin and amberjack crudo: light, fresh and delicious. Only off putting item was the tuna pepper 'relish' but maybe we aren't Italian enough because it tasted like tuna mush...Wild boar spaghetti and rock shrimp rigatoni: Very delicious. Boar shoulder was tender and almost tasted like beef short rib. Rock shrimp and calamari in the pasta were cooked perfectly, and you can tell how fresh these were. Both of the pasta dishes were cooked to perfect al dente. Only downside is how small these were, because we wanted more. Braised duck leg and bistecca di manzo: Amazing. Huge portion, cooked perfectly. Duck legs were juicy, tender and not gamy in anyway. Beef tenderloin with pea puree and chanterelle mushroom is a must though. If you're doing the course option, this option is a must. Cheesecake and chocolate torta: Loved the fact that they were both savory and sweet at the same time, but was too full to enjoy... lol. Barolo grill is a must try, and we will def be back to try the other items on their menu!

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for over a year, and every time I have tried, often the day of, I have not been able to get a reservation. I highly recommend booking in advance! All I can say is this was one of the most hospitable, warm and welcome I have felt coming into a restaurant of this stature in a very long time. Definitely the most welcome in Colorado. The service professionals took a real down to earth approach to storytelling and took the time to ensure we were going to get the experience we were looking for.One of the first things our incredible bartender, Storm, did was ask us about dietary restrictions and food allergies. I appreciated being asked before the drinks were discussed because I have an allergy to grapes and cannot indulge in wine. For our meal we ordered two dishes from the starters/antipasti section, then we decided because the food was so delicious, to share a tasting menu that way we could get a wider variety and see what we'd like to order on our next visit. The ambiance was different in that the music playing was very transient, kind-of reminiscent of what you would expect in a trendy European-style hotel, while the lighting and decor matched that of a classy Italian restaurant with cozy nooks and eloquent reading corners. What I liked the most was the many separated rooms this restaurant utilized to make the experience feel like I was dining in someone's home and enjoying a home-cooked meal. While these did contrast, overall it somehow worked. The cocktails we ordered were some of the best I have ever had, specifically the strawberry-campari-mezcal riff on a negroni that was so well made. The bitter campari married beautifully with their espadín mezcal with the bright strawberry flavor acting as a blending agent. We later learned this was bartender, Storm's, newest creation.Really a job well done. Barolo grill is an approachable restaurant that can appeal to many audiences and age groups, as long as they are comfortable with a longer (several courses) dining experience than other restaurants nearby. Perfect for private parties, date nights, special occasions and after-work cocktails/small plates.Kerry, the manager also was gracious enough to stop by and thank us for choosing to spend our date night alongside his team.Grazie mille!!! We can't wait to come back and try more!

I was excited to hear that they are farm-to-table, and they go to Italy every year to get inspired. The inspiration shows in the food. The ambiance was nice, people were dressed up, rare for Denver, the decor was elegant yet simple, which is what I love, it's all about the food. They have a huge wine list! The service was professional, timely, and knowledgeable. Our waitress knew all the dishes, and wines and was able to suggest great pairings for me. That said, there were a few misses in the food. We started with the crudo, which was delicious, well-balanced, and a great sharing portion to kick off the meal. Insalata Primavera tasted like spring on a plate, the produce was fresh and delicious, like it was just picked. We then shared the Agnolotti del plin, which was delicate and delicious, but it came out cold. If we weren't hungry, we would have sent it back. There is no reason for pasta to be cold when it's served. Then we decided to get the veal tenderloin, this was a huge miss. It was kinda bland, overcooked, and also lukewarm. It's a shame, veal can melt in your mouth and I expected something different. I also didn't care for the presentation, it felt boring rather than creative and playful. We switched it for the duck and were not disappointed. I appreciate that the waitress was there to check in at the right time and immediately offered to switch the dish for us. Lastly, we got the chocolate olive oil cake. This desert was more beautiful than tasty. I didn't taste much olive oil in it. I would recommend this place for a fun dinner or date night, and will definitely be back. They have a few outside tables, but unfortunately 6th can be a bit noisy.

Very cute area and attentive service. Everyone I was with ordered the tasting menu which was a good way to try multiple things. My favorite was the seafood appetizer and the dessert. The bread was also a fan favorite. The cassoulet honestly wasn't very good for my taste buds but well played.

Such a fun dinner here! This will be our new go to Italian spot in Denver. The bread was sooo good. We tried salad, calamari and cheese souffle for appetizers. Then I had lamb stuffed pasta for my main. Absolutely delicious. Service is very attentive. Wasn't hard to find street parking but they do have a small lot that fits maybe 10 cars too

The restaurant is in a Cherry Creek neighborhood that is just beautiful. We walked there after having drinks at another establishment in the area, so I can't comment on parking. We were a party of five with reservations at 7:30 on a Friday night. There must have been an onslaught of reservations at that time because there were so many people waiting that you could hardly move around. There is no where to go, so we felt very much in the way of the servers. Once seated, our server Josh was very attentive and explained the food preparations in detail. We all ordered the tasting menu, which meant we had almost all of the selections on the menu. By the time we got to the dessert course, Josh went MIA, so we waited a very long time for our check. In the interest of keeping this review from being too long, I will highlight what we thought were the best dishes of the night. For the Antipasti, the pecorino cheese souffle and the chilled terrine of foie gras were the favorites. The Frito Misto with dill horseradish crema was also great. For the Primi Piatti, the risotto with the trio of purees was fantastic! This was my favorite dish of the night. The gnocchi was good, but we've had better gnocchi elsewhere. The agnolotti was VERY lavender forward to the point that is all I tasted, and the spaghetti alla puttanesca was just weird. I have never had tuna with tomato sauce before and it did not work for me. And the large caperberry on top did nothing to enhance the dish. For Secondi Piatti we chose the duck, the pork tenderloin and the beef tenderloin. The pork tenderloin was the favorite with a lovely preparation and root vegetables. The beef was cooked perfectly and we loved all the different ways mushrooms were served with it. The sauce on the duck was very strong tasting and over-took the lovely taste of duck. For the Dolce we had the cheesecake, chocolate ganache, and a peach special they were offering that night. All of the desserts were wonderful. When we return to Denver, I would make reservations here again and order the risotto and the pork and beef tenderloin dishes.

Great 4 course tasting menu at an affordable cost! Our waiter was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu offerings.Felt like I was at a restaurant in Rome! The look and feel inside the restaurant was intimate, relaxing and sharp.I really enjoyed each course that I chose. My favorite by far was my main entree which was the pork tenderloin. Cooked to perfection with so much flavor!I will absolutely be back!

Resting on former laurels. When visiting Italy for annual staff trip they failed to return with basic hospitality.Food 3Service 3Hospitality 2 Ambiance 2.5 (walked past a couple seated at a table placed behind the bar stools on way to the bathrooms)Went to Barolo to celebrate after a disappointing visit one month prior which we treated as a one off experience. But recent visit was no better and in a significant way worse. On arrival owner/manager was advised that we were celebrating a major life event. Ordered the most expensive wine in the category suggested to complement our multi-course meal. The meal & beverage experience was average but what was most disappointing is a restaurant, built in part on wonderful experiences including wine meals, could miss the boat so profoundly in the failure to properly acknowledge a singular life event. In spite of a business no brainer, nothing was done in the way of a token appetizer or desert to recognize the occasion. Barolo seemed more focused on cramming as many seats as possible than remembering an "upscale" restaurant is in equal parts about an enhanced customer experience.
