I am eating at Banh's Cuisine right now and highly recommend it. The best Vietnamese/ Chinese food in the area. It is a hole in the wall so don't expect bells and whistles but the staff, service, and the food are all excellent! I eat here often and highly recommend the specials. And because I'm a fan of vegetarian food, which is very hard to find in the area, I especially think they do this well. This is a staple and I always go here for authentic Vietnamese/ Chinese food.

I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while and have heard great things about it. It's a very small, hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but there are a few tables indoors as well as some outdoors tables for seating. I found out that the bathroom sink is located outside of the bathroom which was interesting. The workers were all friendly and the food came out quick, but it was just okay. The vegetable rice roll was pretty disappointing because it was literally just lettuce and rice noodles wrapped in rice paper. Other Vietnamese spots I've been to usually serve 2 rolls per order and add other vegetables like cabbage, carrots, and mint to the roll, but this one was very plain. I tried some of the special vegetable pho and it was also just okay. The broth was decent but the vegetables were a little hard and overall I've had better. I also tried a bite of my friends sweet and sour chicken and found the sauce to be too sweet / tangy for my liking. I know a lot of people love this place, but in my opinion it was just ok / below average.

Atmosphere: Banh's Cuisine is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant on 9th Street with an intimate and local vibe. Definitely a slept-on spot in Durham.Service: Ordering and receiving food is easy, and everything comes out quick and fresh!Food: We've tried several of their Saturday Specials -- the Hu Tieu (#1, pork, shrimp, celery, ground peanut in rice noodle soup), Bun Thang (#2, rice noodle soup with shredded chicken, egg, pork), and Roast Pork Steamed Bun (#4) -- as well as the Sesame Chicken. The soups were warm, filling, and light! We especially liked the Bun Thang, which was more savory and had tender bits of chicken. The Sesame Chicken was also a filling meal for a great price. Overall: Banh's Cuisine is such a wholesome, feel-good spot. With reasonable prices and delicious food, this is easily a standout not only on 9th Street, but in the Triangle area as a whole!

I haven't added my review of their banh mi! It's perfect.Unfortunately, it's only served on Saturdays and usually sells out around lunch- go it in the morning and snag one! It's vegetarian, and filled to the brim with tofu and eggplant. Their bread is perfect. It's also topped with shredded carrot and sprigs of cilantro. Everyone needs to experience this ASAP. There's nothing quite like walking to Banh's at 11 am and sitting down with a glorious banh mi.

This is the best Chinese food in Durham. Friendly service and clean food. Which is very hard to find in Durham. The sesame chicken is awesome.

I came for the Saturday Vietnamese specials, along with everyone else in Durham apparently - the line was out the door! I got the hu tieu and two sticky rice-based snacks (banh chung and xoi muoi me). They weren't bad, and were certainly better than any other Vietnamese place in Durham, but taste-wise I'd still drive to Cary/Morrisville for a few places over eating here. However, Cary and Morrisville are not walking distance from my house, so I'm sure I'll be back. The hu tieu was comforting but kind of over-celeried in the broth. It did have a ton of ground pork and the shrimps were sizable and sweet.I preferred the banh chung in the battle of the sticky rice dishes - but I'm a sucker for anything wrapped in a banana leaf.

I can't believe Banh's has stuck around all this time; it's one of the few establishments that is the same as I remember. I very infrequently get back to Durham (lapses of many years), but when I do, I always stop by Banh's and it's always good. If you're lucky enough to be there on a Wednesday or Saturday, the Vegetarian special is an absolute gem. I got there later today and they served a summer roll instead of the broccoli, but that was pretty good, too. Super chill inside and the employees are nice. Thanks always Banh's !!!

Without Banh's, well... Durham would feel empty. I love this establishment and its owners and staff so much that if anything happens to any part of Banh's in my lifetime, I will be devastated. I love the specials on Saturday and Wednesday and on other days I go with either kung pao or ginger chicken with steamed rice. You go for the food and the attention to detail the staff demonstrate. My family has been going to Banh's regularly since we moved here in 1993. When I was a small child, they let me spend an afternoon learning from them how to make spring rolls and I never forgot this experience.
