Food Truck Time: Bam Pow Chow @ the Railhawks gameI was super excited to try Bam Pow Chow because the menu looked very appetizing. I ordered the Fried Red Tomato Sliders with an avocado sauce and corn relish. This came with 2 sliders for $7, you can add an order of french fries for an additional $2 (if you love waffle fries then you will definitely want to do this). The food tasted great, I would recommend this food truck.

When you hear that a local food truck has a new owner and he's a talented chef who has been at the helm of some of the areas top restaurants (former Savoy, Glass Half Full, Midtown) you seek them out. We caught up with Bam Pow Chow and chef Marshall Smith at Compass Rose. The menu had four entrees; Angus beef sliders with grilled Provolone, and chimichurri, pulled pork sliders with tangy apples and scallions, the Big Fish sandwich with a lemon dill ranch and cucumbers and fried red tomato sliders with corn relish and avocado sauce.Sides are separate and options include French fries, corn fritters, mac & cheese with bacon, and onion rings.First off, the menu is well priced and the portions are generous. We ordered the Big Fish sandwich and the Angus sliders, and for sides, the corn fritters, French fries and mac & cheese with bacon. The Big Fish sandwich is a large deep fried filet resting on two slider buns. The deep fry reminds me of fish & chips takeaway in the UK, it's crispy and flavorful, but with cucumber slices and dill ranch. The Angus sliders are topped with chimichurri, cooked really well and full of flavor. They were actually described by my daughter as "incredible." The slider buns are worth mentioning. Not run-of-the-mill buns, they are elevated and worth the carbs. The sides are stars too. The French fries are a mix of white potato and sweet potato, fried crispy and dusted with we guess to be garlic and Parmesan(?). The corn fritters...I hesitated ordering them because if fritters are dry, they're terrible. These were the exact opposite of dry. The corn fritters are moist and cake like, and they were served with a spicy mayo for dipping. Finally, the mac & cheese with bacon. This side is more than a side, and the chopped, fresh bacon crowning it takes it to another level.Overall, we enjoyed every bite. High marks from my crew. We can't wait to see how Bam Pow Chow evolves with Smith at the helm. Don't miss out.

When I was the "Beer Battered Deep Fried Hot Dog" on the menu, I knew I HAD to order it. Crunchy, juicy, fried goodness. A layer of melted, shredded cheese, shredded napa cabbage, bacon bits, sliced chives, and a dual drizzle of avocado cream sauce + Sriracha? I was sold.I also tried my FIRST cronut! The dessert (tower) consisted of two cronuts with fluffy chocolate mousse on the top and bottom, surrounded by whipped cream, drizzled fudge sauce, and a strawberry on top. Mmmm.... The cronut itself was light and air-pockety. The layers reminded me of filo dough and didn't have much flavor. The sweetness radiated from the toppings and mousse. Guaranteed to give you a sugar-high!I really wanted to try out the rabbit spring rolls, but I was disappointed to not find them on their truck menu... I guess they are a seasonal offering?

Not a man-sized helping, but great quality, tasty.I ordered the beef sliders, no sides, total came to $10.72.Burgers were very good, cooked well, juicy, chimmichurri was not overpowering and complemented the burger/provolone well. Bun sort of had the density of a potato bun, not sure if it was or not, but it brought the whole thing home.I have a small greivance with the price and how greasy/wet the bottom of my little tray got, which almost soggied my buns. but sometimes food is messy, and sometimes you've got to pay a premium for quality.I would definitely order from them again if I'm at a rodeo or some such, maybe be braver and give the peanut butter banana hot dog a shot.

I ordered the Big Fish Sandwich and thought it was very tasty. The fish was a very big piece of what tasted like fried cod. I really enjoyed the sliced dill and spinach which contrasted with the flaky crispy fish texture. My only minor complaint is that I thought the bread bun was not big or sturdy enough to hold the sandwich together. The sandwich fell apart into its separate pieces half way through. Overall, I was impressed with Bam Pow Chow and would love to try the other items on their menu sometime.

Bam Pow WOW! BPC hit the spot recently when we ran into them at Beericana in Holly Springs. Not only have they come HIGHLY recommended by several of our favorite Yelper friends, but Lindy P. and Sara B. couldn't stop raving about the NY strip sliders topped with an incredible chimichurri sauce; with the visual food-porn they described, we couldn't pass on the opportunity to partake. My tastebuds tingled with the cilantro, shallot, red pepper goodness that is chimichurri sauce, and the provolone topping an incredibly tender NY Strip slider was perfection. $10 for two good-sized sliders were easily split between two, and you can pay an additional $2 for a large helping of hot-out-of-the-fryer french fries. I highly recommend seeking this truck out, they pack a bold punch of flavor and won't leave you disappointed.

Bam Pow Chow, I'm in #Foodie Heaven thanks to the Food Truck Rodeo here at my office park today! I was one of the first in line and boy was I pleased with my choice.3 tacos for $9. The tacos are served in these little crispy crust tortillas. Lightly greasy considering they'd been fried, but honestly not overdone at all. There are four kinds of tacos, including the summer veggie, but here is what I got:1. Beef & Bacon w/ Smoked Tomato Dressing, Napa Cabbage & Scallions (Hold the scallions for me please.) The tomato dressing was terrific on top -- I'm not a tomato person.2. Pulled Pork w/ Apple Jicama Slaw -- perfect combination. The slaw complicated the pork perfectly! 3. Shrimp Ceviche w/ Baby Veggies, Avocado, Cilantro & Scallions. I forgot to ask to hold the scallions, but it was another sweet combination. The shrimp was flavorful with an awesome compliment by that avocado drizzle.I really wanted to try the Duck Spring roll from their online menu, but they didn't have it with them today. I perused the online menu before headed down to the courtyard parking lot area where the trucks were and was pleased to see that the line was moving quickly. After asking about the tomato sauce, I learned that it was a husband, wife, and daughter running the show together. Really cool. What made the experience ever sweeter? My Coca Cola said "Superstar" on it. Oh, yes. Thank you.

I constantly search for this food truck to try and eat it's sliders as often as I can. Get the chimichurri flank steak sliders. They are absolutely delicious. If you don't want that, you won't be disappointed by their other options: pulled pork slider was outstanding and even the hot dog was, while unconventional, perfectly balanced. Delicious. One of the best food trucks I've ever tasted in NC!

While I'm on a roll writing food truck reviews, I had to throw in a review for Bam Pow Chow. This truck takes the definition of foodie on wheels to a whole new level!! We first discovered them at Brueprint Brewery in Apex, and once we tried a few different kinds of their tacos, we were in love :) We've had them several times in between but they've now switched to sliders, and they're equally tasty (though I'm partial to the tacos!)The flavor and culinary influence in their food is so impressive. I don't think they make tacos anymore, but the Angus beef tips taco topped with bacon & a crema drizzle was the best. At Beericana, we tried the NY strip steak with uber-fresh chimichurri=- whooooa. So. Damn. Good.!!! Though I haven't tried it, I've heard their cronuts are amazing too. Just follow them on FB or twitter to find where these goodies are located :)Their customer service is second to none. Lauire & Sean do a fabulous job, and their younger daughter (~10y/o maybe) helps run food at some events- so cute bc she makes receipts & such! In addition to food truck rodeos & breweries, they host company picnics, corporate events, weddings, parties... be sure to contact them for your next event!
