Baker Street Bread

We recently moved to the Chestnut Hill neighborhood, and this is our favorite neighborhood cafe. It's a short walk from our place. There's a small outdoor seating area and ample indoor seating. There is fresh bread, which I assume is baked on site. The pastries are good, the coffee selection is solid, and there is a small selection of delicious food (my favorites are the breakfast burrito (pictured) and the BEC (bacon, egg, and cheddar) breakfast sandwich). The staff are always friendly. Sign up for the loyalty program, and grab The Chestnut Hill Local at the register when checking out. It a great read to accompany great fare at a great place.

Since 1992 this artisan bakery has been serving up coffee and specialty breads.Came for a hot fresh flavorful cappuccino. All we could say was yummmm and be back soon.

So cute! Situated on a cobblestone street (street parking). Ordered @ counter from posted menu on wall. Friendly staff. Delicious coffee! Sandwich was totally worth it! Grab & Go sandwiches, salads, soups, spreads, etc.

I can't believe I've never reviewed our go to place for breakfast and breads when our little guy wakes us up too early and we're en route to a playground far too early and mama needs coffee. Note that this place does get backed up when it's prime breakfast time and the wait can be excessive with little ones but dang is it good.

I think I would be able to give a higher rating if we had been able to enjoy lunch. We arrived a few minutes before close of lunch service. At that time you can get whatever is in the case to the left of you upon entry. Soup, sandwiches, potato and chicken salad. It would have been ice to know that the soup was available to be heated up regardless of closing for lunch. NEWSFLASH!!! that the soup was available to be heated up regardless of closing for lunch. Yup. I ordered a choc chip cookie, you know, because they were sitting there all big and cute...saying things like eat me. You know you want to....so I did. I won't spoil the surprise, but there was a hint of a little something extra that made for a novel and fresh choc chip cookie experience. You're welcome. There is an espresso machine. With buttons. I am sorry to say there was no joy to be had in javaville. Skip the cortado. I can speak on nothing else. Also counter staff couldn't be bothered to be even a tiny bit pleasant. I am not certain I could bump this up to a 4 if I had arrived on time for food.

The service used to be nice and that is what kept me going back until the last few trips. I witnessed poor treatment of a cashier by the supervisor... reason being the cashier made a mistake that I wasn't even upset about! However, she reprimanded me in front of me, which was rude to the supervisor and embarrassing to the cashier. On the last trip, there was ill and poor treatment towards customers, it was pretty sad to witness that type of behavior. I'm sure what's happening to this place but it can't be good for business nor should anyone ignore this behavior.

Things have really gone downhill in the past few months. The vegetarian quiche has disappeared, no more cobbler, the macaroni and pasta salad both taste different, my wife felt ill after eating the chicken salad, what's going on? I don't know what's happened there recently but whatever changes they've made they need to undo. I'll still drink the coffee, and maybe the occasional bagel, but otherwise I can't recommend this place anymore. J.N.

I love Baker Street Bread! Their breakfast sandwiches are served on soft brioche buns. Coffee and coffee drinks are really good. They are fast and friendly!

Appealing to the eye, minimalist design and a curated menu and bakery experience that "over-performs." Strawberry cream cheese pastry is one of the most unique menu features and a must try. The apple crumb biscotti was a little underwhelming however, the bagels where stellar - very fresh. Amazing service and great hospitality. I definitely recommend this place for an early stop through because the foot traffic can pick up quickly.

Baker Street's sourdough bread is very good but not sure it's worth the 1.5 hour round trip. Too bad customer service is lacking and leaves a lot to be desired. I placed an early morning phone order for two sourdough loaves and advised I would pick up the next day at 4:30pm. The next day I arrived earlier (4pm) and was ignored by the four workers behind the counter despite no one else being in line. It's not like they didn't see me because they all looked/stared at me without saying a word. I don't have a third eye to be worthy of those stares! No tattoos or piercings either for that matter. I told the counter person I was here to pick up my order and was very curtly(!) told "we thought you changed your mind!" Hello, I was there a half hour earlier than scheduled....was the attitude really necessary?!? The cashier was stone faced and said nothing when I told him "thank you" which I attribute to poor parenting when simple common courtesy shouldn't be too much to expect, and especially for someone working with the public. Management clearly doesn't care either given the other reviews on Yelp regarding poor customer service. No bread is THAT good!
