Southside Market & Barbeque - Bastrop

Southside Market & BBQ is a traditional Texas barbecue place where you can either order prepared food or take home to cook. The menu selections are plenty and will find something to your liking. I ordered the Turkey plate and with Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad. It was a large portion of food so prepare to take the rest home. I also tasted pork ribs off my wife's plate and they were delicious. I enjoyed the turkey where it had great flavor and soft enough to cut with a fork. The Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad had great flavor. The sweet tea was good too.They were fully staffed from the meat cutters to the cleaning crew. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

Sooo yummy! Been here twice now! Both times amazing brisket ! The sides are not the star - the cheese jalapeño filled bacon wrap thing is something you must try! The brisket is wonderful- the employees were kind both times. The place was generally clean and well kept.

Good honest food at a fair price. Consistently good, not as pricey as other restaurants. Little to no wait, always quiet & super clean, plenty of room, no tipping expected. Self-serve pickles, jalapeños, onion. Sausage jalapeño cheese bombs and pork steaks are filling. They never have lamb ribs when I'm there, but I hope to try that one day. Service has always been patient and polite.

Ordered 2 mixed brisket sandwiches and the buns were old & stale and the meat was dry!! Expect much better for the high prices!

One of the biggest things aboutthe Bastrop Southside Market is the wide variety of Soda options at the fountain. I was amazed to find RC AND Coke, a couple Hi C options, and many more. What a great variety!I got a baked potato with brisket and all the toppings. A delicous meal that is very filling. Perfectly baked potato and the toppings just blend in and make an incredible flavor.Wifey got a sandwhich and some potato salad.The only thing I can say I don't really like about Soutside is the BBQ Sauce. I'm not a fan of their sauce, its just a personal thing about the flavor.

The best thing on the menu is their fatty brisket; so good, so juicy and flavorful! Mac and cheese is lacking, my 5 year old had to ask for salt to shake on it because she said it didn't have any taste :/Husband said his ribs were dry, both baby back and spare. They were out of lamb ribs so we ended up getting baby back ribs. The family meals are a pretty great deal for the amount of food you get. Husband loved the beans! Service was a tiny bit slow, even with more than 5 employees behind one counter and another employee behind the meat counter for desserts and to weigh steaks... Spent almost $200 here yesterday but would say it was all worth it

What an amazing experience. This place did not disappoint. All of the meats were tender and delicious. And I wanted to take home a gallon of the pickles and BBQ sauce! So delicious. It is counter service and everyone is very friendly. Very spacious dining room and patio, so there is room for everyone. Worth the stop here if you're traveling!

I have to say that every food item I have eaten at southside barbecue is good. The food is kind of pricey but if you're willing to pay for good barbecue, this is the place in Bastrop. Around meal time, the line can get fairly long but does move consistently. Personally, I think the sliced brisket is the best meat. All of the meat plates are good. I have tried their baked potato with brisket and was very surprised that I just did not care for it. I'm usually a fan of stuffed baked potatoes but not these. If you are still hungry after eating, they have peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert!The inside dining area is very spacious and you can either sit at one of their long tables or in a booth. They also have an"outer" dining area which is still enclosed, with windows on all three sides and has more of a picnic atmosphere. Our family has had several birthday meals and gatherings out there. It's a nice space with a little more privacy for a large group. And they don't mind if you bring in a birthday cake! Southside is usually our go to place when we have guests from out of town.

Maybe I went too early in the day. There was literally no one there when I arrived, which I was pleased to see as I thought that would translate into good food and good customer service. Customer service was friendly but felt a little rushed as if they wanted me to hurry and order. I did ask for recommendations from the cashier who recommended the two meat plate. The sausage was good. The brisket was also flavorful but extremely fatty. Neither meat had a hint of smoke which was disappointing. Portions were small. My kiddo said the mac & cheese was good. I had a baked potato, which was also small, but it was a baked potato and was what you would expect in terms of flavor. Overall okay experience.
